Congratulations To Matt Taibbi For Winning Wall St. Cheat Sheet's Best Reporter Award
Damien Hoffman could not have picked a better person for his Wall St. Cheat Sheet Best Reporter Award for Outstanding Journalism: Matt Taibbi. Matt, who effuses just the right amount of gonzo, deadpan, fact, fiction and paranoia, embodies perfectly the qualities of what a real reporter of our Kafkaesque reality should exemplify and strive to - namely, through the grotesque (yet grounded in reality) to bring attention to the small details that the establishment has long sought to keep deep in the shade, in perpetuation of a status quo that has persistently and increasingly benefited just a small minority.
Zero Hedge wholeheartedly agrees with Matt's conclusive observation:
As someone who covered politics for several years and then moved into finance, I think this is a very fertile ground for journalism. There is a lot here to go through. We need more outsiders looking at this insular world because the people who have been covering it have been there so long, they don’t see the forest from the trees anymore.
So, for anyone who wants to get a good story, Wall Street is definitely the place to go right now. There is simply a lot of disgusting behavior that needs to be examined by journalists, and I hope a lot more people look into it.
Congratulations Matt.

Death to Vampire Squid!
This a fantastic pick.
Outside of political journalism, business & financial journalism needs a serious overhaul.
We need to get rid of the cheerleaders and bring in the hard hitters. Here's looking at you, Matt Taibbi, Zerohedge & Walstreetpro 2.
Talibbi is right on. we need real journalism
Goldman and Bank of Amerika run the markets along with Geithner, and beagle boy Ben. There is no free markets, only welfare capitalism and socialism for capitalism.
good articles; good articles 4 slow news day ..http://www..
hat tip: finance news & finance opinions
His soon-to-be-posted article, "Sick and Wrong" on health care reform (Rolling Stone this coming Friday and posted to the RS WEB stie later next week) promises to be as well done as his piece on the squid.
He was on Rachel Maddow last night - starts at about 8:15 in for those who cannot stand RM - I know ther are some of you and I know you'll say so ;-)
Death of public option a sign of liberal surrender?
Aug. 17: Rachel Maddow is joined by Rolling Stone magazine’s Matt Taibbi to discuss the possibility that “public option” might not be offered now in Obama’s health care reform bill.

Did you see the link on Huffington Post?

I despise her....watching the vid hoping to see her head explode, instead at 7:09 I am treated to an image of her gesticulating wildly with her hands, in front of a background that is a picture of Obama overlaid with "No We Can't".
PRICELESS. Peace, long life and prosperity to you for posting this vid link!
I love her.
The world needs more 6' tall lesbian Rhodes Scholars.
yes, congrats on the wonderful job he has done, especially with the article about the giant squid; and those facts could not be refuted by giant squids bitch-squad ( PR team )
Truly ! Congratulations to Matt and Rolling Stone !
During this crisis there have been day after day million of oportunities for the traditional press to redeem themselves to show they have value to offer ... they have failed miserably (and intentionally) they deserve their decadence. Wapo, NYT, CNBC, bloomberg etc. I can only hope you go to bankroupt soon. You will not be missed. You failed to your redearship... you have the same informational value as the TV Guide.
Rolling Stone was one exception together in less proportion (and less elegantly ;-) ) the nypost.
I was lucky to find zerohedge and since them you guys are my source of information and were my media money goes.
I hope others also contribute.
Thanks
Matt Taibbi rocks. Courage, wit, and a very sharp rapier coupled with intelligence and the will to dig hard. Congrats Matt! You're just about the only writer left in America with any integrity...well, there's also Lewis and the Zero Hedge crew ;-)
His article was just a lot of ill-informed rubbish - yet you guys congratulate him for it?
nice...
i have to questions for you
a) are you familiar with the term " dogmatic collectivization "
b) how many of your servers monitor the Internet for words: GS, giant squid, lloyd blankfein, bitches, thieves, whores and blow
thank you for your answers up-front
Another contentless, useless post from cheeky bastard, the worst (and despite this one of the most prolific) poster on the site.
nice to see you ass-wipe; you should get laid; virginity is affecting your brain power; and your are just to damn angry; chill out man; buy a whore and " spitzerize ".
It's the bright spot light Taibbi brings with him that I applaud. The blatant thievery that passes for business as usual these days will only dissipate under the glare of public awareness and scrutiny.
The systemic corruption won't end without real questions being asked and answers demanded. This requires an engaged public. In my opinion, most "financial" writers are themselves part of the cover up, if for no other reason than they don't want to rock the boat and lose their "sources."
At this point Taibbi has little to lose and everything to gain, which is the right prescription for real investigative journalism.
Shut the fuck up Charlie Gasparino!

Taibbi is a joke. like all mainstream medium, he sells fear to scared people. Similar to a drug dealer selling drugs to a drug addict.
He keeps you scared so he can sell his next scary tale- truth or not.
Keep reading sheaple. and no, i am not from cnbc.
LOL. You have him confused with Paulson.
With the US current account shrinking, the US is less dependent on foreigners to fund its deficit as the trade red ink has slowed to below $10 a month ex oil.

Oh i love his stuff. it is so awesome!!!
And the profile of Miley Cyrus's nail polish in the same issue was to die for!
TD, check your servers, it took me 10 min to get ZH opened and " address unavailable " error came up at least 30 times.
I had the same problem and got this message below when i ran a diagnostic to find the problem.
"www.zerohedge.com" is not set up to establish a connection on port "world wide web service (HTTP) with this computer.
Hack attack maybe ? or am i just being paranoid.
I was thinking Tyler posted something the Government dident want me to see? Lol!!!
HAHAHAHAH
So when will he jump ship from Rolling Stone to do broadcasts for or from Network 23?
P.S. you really need better Captcha questions on things like second or third derivatives. I probably still have an old hard drive with some PASCAL programs of all things that could read and solve this (assuming of course a more modern bit of code to read it into the ancient software.)
Congrats Matt! well deserved. Go fuck yourself GS.
Matt Taibbi is a hero becase he actually went after Goldman. The fact that he wrote a bad, light article on Goldman is overlooked. I hope his future finance articles have the same claws but are better thought out and more detailed.
Taibbi is a Tin Foil Hat conspiracy theorist -----
in his GS rant ... he offers no proof , offers no statictics , offers no "quotes" , offers no "background "
...........yet he has somehow become the Loony Left's wet dream come true
wrong site GS whore. Try Yahoo boards; they maybe buy into your little story.
You obviously didn't read the articles. It doesn't take physicist to understand such simple corruption.
Keep bowing to your capitalist slave master ... unless you are Soros, you are only getting crumbs as the fall off the plate. Freedom? Yeah right ...
Perception and sentiment are two grossly important human traits. Those of us that didn't "know" GS was so fvcking evil before...now do. From what I have read in follow up to Taibbi's RS piece, GS has offered no rebuttal to his claims beyond.."uh-uhhhhh". So, my perception and sentiment is that they are guilty as charged.
Good point - but most people here have this irrational hatred of my beloved goldies so were delighted to jump on the latest bandwagon. No surprise that the post is 'marked as junk' by four delightful posters!
Loony left you say?
Most feel I am a little to the right of Attilla the Hun.
Great job Matt!
"...because the people who have been covering it have been there so long, they don’t see the forest from the trees anymore."
That's a pretty charitable way to put it. The real truth is that they have been bought off by those they cover.
This is perhaps relevant here

MT's commentary regarding the financial media, I'll agree.
MT's commentary, facts, & "reporting" on GS, ahhhh no.
The latter was simply pathetic and said more about the state of our society than anything.
Meh. Can't I hate the kleptocracy AND what passes for journalism at a slimy fish-rag like Rolling Stone?
Any hardware using a UNIX clone OS should suffice. SPARCs are just unusually reliable.

Even if you hate Matt, that stuff is good. Again, you may disagree with that, because it's not 'responsible journalism', but when it comes to writing about something ridiculously obvious, yet ignored by many, you better choose the right words. He did.
Nev'mind.
