Congresswoman Gabby Giffords Shot "Point Blank In The Head" At Town Hall Event In Tucson

Tyler Durden's picture

From Breaking News: Local media is reporting Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, a Democrat, was shot ‘point blank in the head at a town-hall like event in northern Tucson. Is this the beginning?

Update from NBC News:  Dem Party in Tucson saying Giffords taken to hospital, 5 others also shot. Shooter apparently in custody.

Update 2: from Fox Phoenix: 12 people shot at Gabby Giffords community meeting. Congresswoman among the injured, while CNN reports 6 dead and 15 wounded.

Update 3: NPR confirms Gifford has died.

Update 4: Reuters refuting the previous NPR news, and states that Giffords is still alive, in surgery, nine other patients brought in from shooting, per a hospital spokeswoman

The best coverage of this event we have found so far is, ironically, on Sky News:

And now it gets pathetically political: Breaking news reports that a liberal blogger blames Sarah Palin for Gabrielle Giffords assasination attempt.

“F*** it. I’m going there” One liberal blogger wrote on Saturday
after news of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot dead in point
blank range at a Tuscon rally. The blogger TBogg
blamed former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin for the congresswoman’s
death after Palin named Giffords as one of her ‘targets’ during the 2010
mid-term elections. Palin was caught in controversy when she published on her Facebook
page a graphic that showed several ‘target’ districts, including
Giffords 8th district in Arizona.

Gawker has provided a description of the shooter:

A gunman indiscriminately fired into a crowd at a gathering for Democratic representative Gabrielle Giffords outside a Safeway in Tucson, Arizona this morning. Giffords and at least five others were shot, according to NPR. The gunman was tackled and arrested.

Update: We spoke to an eyewitness, Steven Rayle who
was on the scene at the time of the shooting and helped to hold the
suspect down while waiting for police. Here's what he said:

The event was very informal: Gifford had set up a table outside the
Safeway and about 20-30 people were gathered to talk to her. The gunman,
who may have come from inside the Safeway, walked up and shot Gifford
in the head first. According to Rayle, who is a former ER doctor,
Gifford was able to move her hands after being shot.

After shooting Gifford, the gunman opened fire indiscriminately for a
few seconds, hitting a number of people, including a kid no older than
10 years old. Rayle hid behind a concrete pole and pretended to be dead.
When the gunman apparently ran out of ammunition he attempted to flee,
but a member of Gifford's staff tackled him. The Rayle helped hold him
down while waiting for the sheriff to arrive, about 15-or 20 minutes
later. 30 minutes later the EMS came. Rayle said he was "stunned" by how
long it took medical help to arrive.

The man was young, mid-to-late 20s, white clean-shaven with short
hair and wearing dark clothing and said nothing during the shooting or
while being held down. He didn't look like a businessman, but more of a
"fringe character," our source said.

From Giffrods Wikipedia page:

Gabrielle Giffords (born June 8, 1970) is the U.S. Representative for Arizona's 8th congressional district. She is a member of the Democratic Party.

She is the only member of the U.S. Congress whose spouse, astronaut Mark E. Kelly, is an active duty member of the U.S. military.[1]

Giffords is known as a strong proponent of solar energy as well as for her work to secure the border with Mexico.[2] [3]

Giffords was first sworn in as a congresswoman on January 3, 2007.
She is the third woman in Arizona's history to be elected to serve in
the U.S. Congress. In her inaugural speech on the floor of the House of
Representatives, Giffords said a comprehensive immigration reform
package needs to include modern technology to secure the border, more
border patrol agents, tough employer sanctions for businesses that
knowingly hire illegal immigrants, and a guest-worker program. In her
first month in office, Congresswoman Giffords voted to support increased
federal funding for embryonic stem-cell research, raising the minimum wage, endorsing the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission,
and supporting new rules for the House of Representatives targeting
ethical issues. Giffords also voted to repeal subsidies to big oil
companies and invest the savings in renewable energy. "We put our national security at risk by relying on oil from unstable regimes in the Middle East and Latin America," Giffords told her colleagues in a speech on the House floor during debate on the Clean Energy Act. The act repeals $14 billion in subsidies given to oil companies and establishes a Strategic Renewable Energy Reserve to increase research in clean renewable energy, to develop greater energy efficiency, and to improve energy conservation.

During the 2007 session of Congress, Giffords introduced a bill (H.R. 1441)[4] that forbids the sale of F-14 aircraft parts on the open market.[5] She also voted for the contentious May 2007 Iraq Emergency Supplemental Spending bill,
saying, "I cannot, in good conscience, allow the military to run out of
money while American servicemen and women are being attacked every
day".[6]

Giffords is a member of the Blue Dog Coalition and the New Democrat Coalition.

More as we see it.

Yup. Anyone born of a Jewish woman is considered Jewish, and allowed into Israel with all the rights of a Jew.

Even if they're Christian or something.

Jews are a race? Not sure on that one. Get a good cup of coffee , sit back and listen to this lecture by Schlomo Sand , Professor of History, at Tel Aviv University in Israel. Very interesting lecture, by Sand, a jew and a Israeli and a man with some very controversial information to talk about.

When truth is spoken the ears itch and the whining starts. Everywhere he goes, they bother him. He is one of their own and wants peace in Palestine. The purpose of higher education is to explore all viewpoints, no matter how distasteful they are, even to your own "people" which Schlomo Sand , would object to , because he would say, he has not people. Many times we believe things because we hear things. Yet do we really know anything about the things we hear and accept as truth?  Hardly. This is why so many sheep are waking up now. They have the internet. For so long, the sheep heard things and read things in the MSM and believed them , more or less. What other options did they ever have? Since the internet caught on fire about 1995 or so, the sheep have had opportunities that no other generation has had,  the ability to research and to reflect on things and belief systems we have heard and been taught all of our lives. What was meant for bad, is now being used for good, ( I guess we can discount the porn side of this equation when I say this). But the days of freedom on the net are nearing a end, very soon, make no mistake about it. One can surmise, that anytime the complaining gets bad, when the bitching gets hot, then we can know for sure, that what is being said, is truth. It is a easy thing to see. It is a easy thing to understand. Men like Schlomo Sand swim against the current of our day. They are men who are despised by those who want the status quo to continue. We must listen to them and study what they say, while we still can.

The thing is, I don't really think the sheep are "waking up." A quick glance over said comment section speaks volumes, as does a quick skim through facebook.

It's pretty damn depressing, especially considering, as you said, how valuable the internet is.

Also, you seem racist against whites. Fuck off now.

That is a nice. So questioning the outrage on this action while so many happen elsewhere on a daily basis is being a racist?

Shedding tears on the murder of a white person while not bothering for the hundred killed elsewhere might be indeed a sign of racism but questioning the outrage showed on this board is more about revealing duplicity.

The philosophical bankruptcy of the Tea Party has been laid bare.

Yes, she was a parasite. Yes, she advocated war and murder abroad, and secured funding for it. The actions she advocated others to perform against foreigners, in the end, were applied to her and her staff.

But murdering her solves absolutely nothing. She was just the servitor of an evil creed. I look at her and just see the average muddled American woman, no more evil than a check-out girl that holds the identical beliefs.

It makes no sense to say "I am enraged by the theft and violent control over me, so I will murder someone tangentially related to that aggression." It's a statement of mad nihilism, that, if taken to its logical conclusion, results in mass death.

Assassinations are immoral. They're also the opposite of effective. This rallies support for the state. It's also a usage of the state's manner of behavior. Revolutions always replace one tyranny with another.

What matters, always, are ideas, beliefs, and actions. The human body is just so much intelligent meat. Destroying people makes no impact on ideas - it only terrorizes.

Kill whomever you want to kill - so long as you define them as evil first.  That is the way of the world.

There is no need for a standard against which to measure our definitions of good or evil ... right?  A moral society is defined however we want to define it these days.

ROFL yeah it did

Those are the facts, twist it with sophistry all you want.  You can't change the fact we kicked the British Imperialist Monetarists out of our country.

Sure we let them back in, and now we're back in the same mess.

But you got what I was implying wrong...what I was implying...obvious for anyone with a brain...is that had we had a FRENCH REVOLUTION, rather than our AMERICAN REVOLUTION, we never would have had an America.

Again, what part of NAPOLEAN as a direct result of the STYLE of revolution the French took up is completely different from our STYLE which produced the Constitution, and our founding fathers....what part of that don't you understand.

Yeah, it didn't work

Yeah, there was no difference between the two

Someone must of woke up and ate their Sophistries, the breakfast of monetarists.  Did you have two bowls today?

The fact that Americans allowed the British Imperialist Monetarists back into the country means . . . the American Revolution failed. lol.

I didn't say that there are no differences between the French and American revolutions. Don't put words in my mouth, it makes you look stupid.

Lastly, it's "must have." If you want to insult my brain, you need to at least comprehend 3rd grade grammar. "must of" LOL fuck.

Sat, 01/08/2011 - 17:44 | 859714 jmc8888
jmc8888's picture

ROFL I knew your dumbass sophistric take on reality would be heading in that shit creek direction.  You see, you are a prime example of exactly what dipshit brains we have in this country.

The American Revolution didn't fail dumbass.  We failed to keep what we won.  That's TWO SEPARATE THINGS.  Hard when you fail at common sense and of course first you have to know reality, which obviously you don't.

Or I guess we lost WWI since WWII happened??  I mean that's your fucktard logic.  That we somehow lost the American Revolution, because hundreds of years later, other people sold us out.  Wow, your idiocy know NO BOUNDS.

Here's a hint fucktard.  Anything that happens AFTER the american revolution CAN'T CHANGE anything ABOUT the American Revolution.  Fucktard.

3rd Grade Grammar?  You're an imbocile.  A true dullard.  A dunce.  A person who doesn't know his ass from his elbow, even if his ass had diahrrea leaking all around it.  You still couldn't tell it from the smell.

So let's just analyze my grammar....as if

a) having correct grammar was a goal as I wrote it (it wasn't fucktard..thus who cares if I used an incorrect grammar...what are you the idiotic grammar police...focusing on bullshit instead of fascism ruling this country...and you ignore that??? maybe not but grammar doesn't mean shit)

b) having correct grammar is even neccessary...i'm on a blog...and I'm not being paid...thus if I'm not going to lose a job, I'm not in school for a grade, and this is a message board, than wow....a lower grammatical standard is there....heaven's to betsy's.  So I took advantage of the lax standards and let a grammatical error in...oh no....somehow that discounts everything I said earlier...doesn't it....only to fucktards...which you seem to espouse since you are bringing it up.

but the most important is

c) this process is used by fucktards who don't have a real point, because they can't win the debate.  you can't.  you're on the wrong side.  So you resort to changing the subject.  Idiot.

ROFL here you are trying to say 'don't put words in my mouth'.  Why not? YOu did it to me.  You said I was making the point of...xxxx.....and I replied that no...in my first post...then my second...now my third...I was saying what I said....YOU GOT IT WRONG. IDIOT.  The whole reason I posted the 2nd post, was to show you how YOU GOT IT WRONG.  So before you say I'm putting words in your mouth and that I'm looking stupid, perhaps you should relook again at what transpired.  As you can see, it's your fuckup Chief.  It's your Pow Wow.

SO yes I am insulting your brain, because obviously you

a) got it all wrong (by reading my first post wrong...that's YOUR FAULT, a YP not a MP)

b) misrepresented my position in the first place (due to above)

c) went the intellectually bankrupt route of having no point by illustrating the finer point of the English grammar, while this isn't a school, you aren't my editor, you aren't my boss, and I wasn't trying to have good grammar on that post.

d) then somehow blamed this all on me

WOW are you fucking crazy or what?

I know I'm nothing special.

It's quite clear you somehow think far too much of yourself.

I'm nothing

Here's a hint, so are you!

But one thing I do know, I haven't fallen for any of the fucktards idiocy.  Not my whole life.  Not even the charlatans that every is fooled by now.  Whether it be fascist Barack or Fascist Rand/Ron.  They're all still monetarists.  So if you're going to be a real patriot, you have to drop ALL MONETARIST IDEOLOGY, which means the Austrian school, and whoever fucktard politicians that still follow our enemy's thought processes.

So I'll end this on this note like you, for common ground purposes

LOL FUCK

I now return you to the tragedy of psycho's.

No! He is saying that the American revolution was largely led by thoughtful men of principle; whereas the French one was led by capricious machiavellian psychopaths.

The difference involves the wholesale murder of thousands of innocent people on the basis of rumors or whispers.

America's revolution was led by America's elite and financed by the French.

France's revolution executed France's elite and was led by whomever happened to be the most ruthless and financed by... the French.

Taxation is the source of all tyranny.  America, for the most part, did not pay for her own revolution, which left the people free to fight the enemy and not see their own, newly formed government as oppressive.  France did not have that option, so to fund the French revolution, the revolutionary government needed to become more and more oppressive in order to collect revenues and maintain control.

"The philosophical bankruptcy of the Tea Party has been laid bare."

Well, that's interesting. No ID on the shooter yet, but the Tea Party is philosophically bankrupt? Aren't you JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS just a little?

The Tea Party is about PEACEFUL reform. No one connected to the Tea Party has (so far) been convicted or even accused of killing anyone for political reasons. Can you say that about:

(1) Bill Ayers, the former Weatherman?

(2) Bernadine Dohrn, his wife?

(3) The radical environmentalist Unabomber?

(4) Che,Mugabe,Pot,Mao,Stalin, and Castro, all Communist rulers?

Thought not. I'll go out on a limb and say this probably ISN'T a Tea Party member, conservative activist or militia member, either. Why? The TARGET is wrong; for a Democrat, she was for strong borders, which the Tea Party FAVORS. She was for a strong military, which the Tea Party FAVORS. She was for meeting with her local constituents, which the Tea Party FAVORS (town hall meetings). It DOESN'T MAKE SENSE for several reasons - so it probably wasn't them responsible.

Your knee-jerk condemnation speaks volumes about you, but says NOTHING about the Tea Party. For reflexively condemning without proof, you earned another JUNK.

ROFL no way

She was lambasted for her healthcare vote. It is deathcare, but so are hmos.  What the republicans wanted to do was no solution. But I haven't heard THEM say anything bad about our Queen's Sir Donald Berwick.  Because gasp, they want to cut even more than Obama.

She had shots fired at her office and received threats earlier.

No, this was politically motivated.  Obviously a right wing psycho.  Is there any other?

I hate obama, I hate this deathcare, but no lefty would shoot one of the ONLY DEMOCRATS in Arizona, after the landslide for fascist dumbfuck drunk Jan Brewer.

Oh yeah, and about Jan fascist Brewer, religious faux espouser, will never get into heaven, if you believe, she now has blood on her hands.  If like every other republican you dream of heaven, guess what, you ain't getting there fascit whore.  Why?

http://www.larouchepac.com/node/17127

"In Arizona, it was announced yesterday by a hospital that two Medicaid patients have died, whose pending transplant operations were cancelled, when Gov. Jan. Brewer (R) last October discontinued Medicaid transplant coverage, to save $1.4 million of funding. Brewer is also seeking to drop 250,000 persons out of Medicaid coverage altogether, for which she intends to get a waiver from the Obama Administration permitting the reduction."

Not a good 24 hours for Arizona.

Our Gov deserves to be hung for war crimes.

One of our only is shot for not being fucktard backwards like his right wing ideology.

Of course all this needs to be confirmed.  But how can anyone doubt anything else?  It wasn't like this was random....she'd been threatened, about specific votes.

We all know WHO that is.

Meanwhile he shoots Giffords for not being American, and I'm sure the following is one of his heros, a right wing republican destroying the constitution, yet that's his side.  Welcome to bizarro republican land, where they've been for 40 years, and now they're wandering back in from the intellectual desert.  Fucking right wing whackos.  You never had an idea, never stood for America, and will even shoot people, to get out of the realization of that sad fact.  A republican patriot? Never in this century *and I'm being nice*.

Wake up you pyscho, ALWAYS WRONG, right wing idiots.  You're killing the world with your pathetic unhuman ideology.  That's reality.  Also, you've convinced many pathetic dems to support your causes, including Nero.   But, the finger of suspicion will always point to you, because you're Original Coke, and we all now when it comes to fascism, you can't beat the real thing.

A big finger to the right wing for the always and forever continued idiocy about....everything.  Get a clue Jethro.

You know what the worst thing is.  Arizona is more progressive in many ways than the rest of the U.S., we're actually ahead of the curve, even if it doesn't APPEAR like that on T.V.

So if it's happening here.  You better believe that backwoods parts of this fascist british minded controlled country are much worse and will explode at some point very soon in a much worse way.

We don't talk with drawls, you don't hear the n word every other word...oh yes, we're not the south.  Sorry.  If you live in the south, god help you, because sanity won't.

Fascist Jethroe is on the march, and he's carrying his guns (and oblivious to everything american...even though he's republican and stands for everything he so called hates)

Jumping to conclusions. Well let's see...

Did she receive threats? Yes

Was she shot? Yes

Did she have a 'target' on her? Yes

Does the right wing spew bullshit that promotes this? Yes (or toes the netural line while others do)

Now, it doesn't take a rocket scientist, and I've said we have to let it all

play out, but on a message board where we write, in real time, I'll make a speculation, and did.  Get over it.

Yeah everyone hates the jumping to conclusions....I never made a conclusion...I speculated.  A good one based on the situation and the above. Overall it doesn't mean it happened exactly like that.

But that post was also much more, showing that in 24 hours we've had this, and two patients killed by a right wing ideological whore in Jan Brewer.

So we have fascism by Republicans killing two patients needlessly and in pure war crime fashion.

We have one of the ONLY democrats in the state shot, after all the above.

Go ahead and use your first ammendment right, I'm using mine.  But people that don't see a trend, never saw the economic crisis coming did they.  There's tons of trends to follow, and our fascist one, led by republicans, joined by democrats, is real.

It's killed two arizonans by decree

It appears likely that more, a judge is dead, and others too, with still the possibility that a congresswoman will die as well.

Either way, since this IS MY STATE, I'll yell at the trends.  The fascist monetarists THAT DO MAKE UP; the tea party, the republican party, the democratic party, the center, the green left, AND simple non-partisan monetarists are taking us down a path, and this path directly caused everything in my post.

It doesn't matter who this guy ends up being.  He shot a judge and a congresswoman, wake up, something is wrong.

Junk it all you want, hide your head in the sand, I won't.  Just remember as long as your head is in the sand, you can't save yourself because you're too busy trying to hide from the truth.

Overall it doesn't matter, it's caused by fascism.  Regardless of party, it's fascism.  When the story comes out, I won't espouse incorrect things.  Realize that your 'judgments' mean little in real time as things flow.  Amazing how stupid people are.  'Oh you don't know'. NO SHIT.  But I'll take a stab at it.  'Oh I don't like that stab', 'you don't know that'....no shit.  It's called speculation for a reason.  If you don't like it about this, what is your position about using it in the markets?

What a tragedy.  All political sides (being used by the same monetarists) need to realize that they're being used as tools, and because of that, they better make sure they don't enable fucktards like this guy in Tucson.  How dare anybody try to say republicans didn't foster an attitude that could cause this.  Maybe it's not responsible, but as they say, you did the deed.  It sure makes you look guilty now.  Accept the fact, that until the events are known, people will speculate, and they're going to use YOUR STRATEGIES, which is what it was, to hype up everything and not give any solutions, use innuendo and slips of the tongue, from low all the way up high to Rush Limbaugh, espousing this mentality, and expect anyone with a brain, not to at least correlate it.

If you don't like fleas, quit sleeping with dogs.

Don't want your party implicated? Don't espouse such bullshit sophistry while offering no solutions...agitating a populace of screwed people and holding them hostage to that for votes.

Yes, I most definitely will speculate.  Deal with it. Rock n' roll.

The situation has been revealed. It was pointed out by  I'm a superior Jew that the hipocracy of it all. Thousands of people die every day to gun violence and it's not even reported. People talk about about how this is all for some good and will end in complete equality but you see protecting this person more important than protectin that person and you see the sympathy magicians pouring out sympathy for this person while the machine is broken for another person.

You see the message of we all are to be as one while people busily build advantage and privelage and monopolization. The sympathy has been monopolized the force has been monopolized. The ability to damage in an attempt to subdue and minimize people has been monopolized. They can't make anyone die in the dirt at will but they don't care. They are doing it 10 percent at a time. They bring the damaged back in let them be violent and then use it as justification for stronger and tighter control. They purposely damage entire communities through financial abuse or sexual abuse or just plain old sympathy magician abuse.

They operate under a guise of this being a balancing and learning place. But it's not it's a damaging and dominating place. That's all it has ever been and all it will ever be. Billions of people will pack the ghost region around this planet and not budge. They won't return back to the light. With great power come great current x resistance squared.

Welcome to the blackout bitches. If all you have in store for us is changing us into abused violent animals then fuck your tower and fuck your 10 of swords. 10 swords in the back isn't a more truthful expression of what you are doing is wrong. It's just a victim of coperative gang violence.

Well gee. Now richard you know I have nothing against you and don't want to hurt you in any way. So take this for what it's worth. That's the way the cooky crumbles. You take a group of people fucking brutalize them with nobody coming to help in the middle of goddamn europe which isn't exactly the boondocks. It'll fuck them up.

If belief in superiority is giving him comfort I'm not willing to attack that. What I am willing to attack is dynamics of it. And how the jews are trying to do the same thing that was done to them in palestine and how the power hungry always try to use that as protection for every fucked up thing they do. Now logically anybody or any group of people that are made to feel helpless and powerless will self medicate. The drug of choice is of course power.

Which further makes this place stupid and useless. Highly damaged people will have insecurities that are off the charts on reasonableness. And there's participants in this system that are incurable and unchangeable, the psychopaths. They can set off and destabilize and damage and create further instability at any point. Keeping it going forever and ever. They aren't damaged. I don't think they ever were damaged. I think they are just here to create chaos and rule us through fear. The sociopaths don't seem damaged to me either.  They just seem intent on fucking with us as they please. Both those groups want us to try to heal and attract and keep it going for them as they go. But i'm pretty sure I can live with mr superior jew given a couple lifetimes without getting thrown in a goddamn oven or starved to death or hurt badly. None of which has occured for a single day of my entire life on this planet.

So to quote another greek philosopher and paraphrase it to my own life experiences. This place is like stepping in shit and thinking to fix it by washing off in sewage.

However you feel about what happened, this event is going to force each of us to sort out exactly how we feel about these enemies of liberty.

This woman, very likely, is or was an enemy of freedom.  I don't know much about her specifically, but I know that the United States Congress is certainly the most dangerous enemy of liberty in the world today, and she is/was part of it.  From what I read here everyday, I don't think many of you would disagree.

At what time, exactly, is the action taken today appropriate?  If your answer is never, then I hope your chains will rest lightly upon you.

I hope that this event helps all of us realize what the true cost of what is happening with 'our' Federal Government is.  I hope this event shows more people exactly what path we on here, because it is more of this kind of shit that we are headed for, full throttle.

Precisely; which is why I find it extremely strange that commenters on this site have described this event, numerous times, as "horrifying."

It is horrifying when people kill people. It is a human tragedy.

It is?

Don't you realize that we, as a species, suffer from a huge overpopulation problem?

We need MORE murder. We need a dramatic downsizing of the population, or the ENTIRE SPECIES risks extinction.

But yeah, when people kill people it's horrifying. lol.

Yes, lots of disgusting murder is what we need.

Or a 'one child & pay through the roof for more' policy.

A "one child policy" would be disastrous demographically.

It would also fail to reduce the global population to natural levels. Do some research on peak oil and GMO food, holy fuck.

Overpopulation?  Are you a fucking idiot?

There is no overpopulation.

You could fit the entire world's population comfortably, with tons of room to spare, inside of fucking Texas.  There is no overpopulation.

Now whether or not you'd like to live there......that's another question.

Another fascist, who's fallen for the fascist green ideology, or has never heard of space travel, fusion, and fusion arc.  We're running out of everything, thus instead of using our brains, we need to depopulate.

Yep, thanks for stating to the world you don't think, because only fascist non-thinkers believe we are 'overpopulated' based on propoganda, and not the facts.

What a fascist dumbass.  You do not have a brain, so don't ever pretend to have one. Because you don't.  I sure hope you work at Wal*Mart, but I sure hope you have the mental acumen to do the job.  Since you think overpopulation is real and legit, I've obviously pegged you right.

Sat, 01/08/2011 - 16:04 | 859251 thefatasswilly
thefatasswilly's picture

Uhh . . . I wasn't talking about space to fit people. I'm talking about resources.

Sure, space travel will solve a lot of our problems, but are we, as a society, heading in that direction? Nope. It is irrelevant.

Tell me about this brilliant fusion and arc fusion, since you are such a genius. Tell me all about how it is being implemented everywhere because of its obvious greatness, and how it is replacing oil everywhere.

You didn't even address the issue of food.

You speak of facts, then spout idealist dogma. Your idiocy is profound.

Sat, 01/08/2011 - 18:16 | 859909 jmc8888
jmc8888's picture

It's all related. Space, resources, and yes, generally speaking it can be either/or or both when talking to someone of this ideology.  Now that you've espoused more I'll continue.

Are we heading as a society into space?

As if that is the measure. Idiot.

Do we need to go? Yes.  That's all there is to it.

But there's something much more than that.  It's so sad, that you can't see it.  I can't blame you, I wasn't around during the moon landings.

But you see, that was a goal.  That IS where our society WAS going...that is until the MONETARISTS, took over.  You sadly don't realize that.

Also, just because monetarists took us off the track, doesn't mean we have to stay there.

But again, why did we cancel the space program?  It was the Queen of England, and her monetarist ideologies, and HER VIETNAM WAR, that WE FOUGHT, for HER, that caused the cutbacks to start in the Apollo program before we even landed there.

We shut down our space expansion, and now closing it down, why?  Because of monetarist ideology.

So you're right, we're not going there.  Due to monetarist ideology.

That can change.  That MUST change.  Sadly you can't see it.  Again that's a YP not a MP.  You really do have a closed off mind, and that limits you.

So just because you say space travel is 'irrelevant', doesn't mean it is.  Your reality, is real.  You base your reality off monetarism.  Meaning if you look around, I guaranteed you're almost ALWAYS wrong.  The only reason we aren't on Mars in British Monetarism.  Sadly you aren't aware of it.

Now besides space, which has land, resources, etc.  There is fusion arc.

Now the fusion arc will enable us to create the first 92 naturally ocurring elements in our peridoic table. (including gold fwiw)

Again, if resources are a problem, *and they are* having a device that can turn energy into matter, specifically the first 92 elements, is something that we need.

ROFL your sophistry is amazing.  You really know not that you spew nothing but bullshit

"tell me all about how it is being implemented everywhere because of its obvious greatness, and how it is replacing oil everywhere"

ROFL, again, completely got me wrong.

The fusion arc is part of science driver program that would be implemented to be achieved over the next 50 or so years.  If you can't wait that long, I'm sorry you're impatient.

But first we have to actually fund it.

Never did I say fusion or fusion arc were HERE.  It's the solution MY GENERATION has to STRIVE FOR.  When we're old, hopefullly sohpistry filled fucktards like you not withstanding, we achieve it.

But you see, the Queen's British Monetarism, that America is an ideological and actual slave of, will NEVER FUND IT.  If we never fund it, it will never happen.  Had we started funding it twenty years ago, we'd be alot further than we are now.  But reality is, we're using resources NOW. Time is running out.  We've already wasted a few generations, that was our cushion.  Resources are an issue.  But there is a way out, we just need to get there.

Just like Orville and Wilbur Wright built a plane, and those eras fucktards, like you, said....man will never fly...if it's possible...how come we don't see planes flying all around.

Well sir, that's because you have no vision, and are trying to make a sophistry point that if it was possible, how come we don't have it.  I mean seriously how you passed kindgergarten with such a learning disability is beyond me, but you sure have the 'sophistry' fucking with your head.  That, no matter what else, is guaranteed.

We may not have fusion reactors around or fusion arcs.  But we do have planes flying around now.  Perhaps tomorrow, without fascist apologists who say cut and depopulate instead of solve, we will have solved it.  But the sad thing is, we even have a plan, yet you shoot down that plan.  What a fucktard you are...seriously.  You as backwards as the 'r' in Toys R Us.

If we don't get fusion and fusion arc, it's because your side won, not because it was right, but because it had more might....and won at the expense of the human race.  Be careful what you wish for, you may indeed get it.

(oh and I never labeled myself anything...those are YOUR words AGAIN)

So in the end, you talk about how you are based in reality defacto by pointing out through bullshit sophistry and making a piss poor case at it that I'm not based in reality.

Nope, your based in sad monetarist ideology.  Not in anyway, a true America reality, and you can't even tell the difference between the two.  Because somehow you think this is the way it is, and nothing else could of been in its place.  That's sophistry, it comes from bullshit Aristottle, and you need to wake up and realize that what you hold is truth, is actually bullshit.  Because sophistry, is British BULLSHIT.  You've bought it hook, line, and sinker SO MUCH, it's engrained into your very being.  Wake up fucktard, before it's too late.

I'm not wrong about any of this.  YOU ARE.

I'm no idealist. I'm the realist with solutions and goals.

You're the one preaching gloom and doom, with no soultions, AND YOU DON'T EVEN WANT TO TRY.  Just attack any solutions.  Wow.

You my fellow ZH reader are very much out of touch with reality.  It's your monetarist idealist dogma that is showing throught, not mine.  Yours is based on bullshit, mine is based on reality.  Wake up, and realize that's not two scoops of raisins in your bran, it's shit.

Great job trying to use a personal belief as a universal truth.

In any case, I'd like to see you answer the question I've posed, but no one has been able to answer (people instead attempt to insult me, hilarious):

How can our massive overpopulation problem be solved? I have an answer, and no one seems to like it, but at the same time, no one is capable of producing a better one.

Overall, quite pathetic.

It doesn't exist? So you believe that further genetically modifying plants and animals for food to feed our exponentially expanding population is . . . acceptable?

What could possibly cause you to jump to that conclusion?

I'm sure when soylent green becomes a reality, you'll still be spouting your bullshit about how overpopulation doesn't exist.

The crisis in the movie Soylent Green is the result of global warming which like overpopulation is a fantasy promoted by elites to further their control over markets and regulatory bodies.

Holy fuck, dude. I had you pegged as rather intelligent.

If it helps, I'll say that while I don't hate humanity I really don't care for people all that much. Please note that this is an important distinction with healthy cynicism positioned on one side and raving lunacy looming dangerously on the other side.

Sat, 01/08/2011 - 17:12 | 859527 thefatasswilly
thefatasswilly's picture

I jumped to that conclusion because you stated that overpopulation doesn't exist.

I admit that I didn't really flesh out my argument. At the moment, numerous unnatural procedures such as genetic modification and introduction of manmade substances into soil to prolong the duration that it can support crops exist.

Without these procedures, we would not be able to feed everyone. These procedures are unsustainable and undesirable; thus, overpopulation.

I do admit that I could be wrong, though; if a larger percentage of the population became farmers or something, this issue MIGHT go away, but I'm still pretty sure the Earth can't naturally handle feeding 6, 7, 8 billion people.

Oh, and peak oil, although I guess oil isn't actually necessary for supporting human life.

CrockettAlmanac.com's picture

if a larger percentage of the population became farmers or something

That could help reduce problems such as food shortages, the increasing lack of quality in the food supply, the need to transport food over long distances, potential food supply disruptions and it could help reduce unemployment as well. Independent tought and action by individuals can overcome any perceived global crisis if the regulatory bodies would get out of the way and let men be men.

Oh, and peak oil, although I guess oil isn't actually necessary for supporting human life.

Oil is currently necessary to support the nutritional needs of Earth's population. But the world has run out of necessary resources in past. In most cases innovation has prevailed or we wouldn't be here discussing it now.

Sat, 01/08/2011 - 17:27 | 859628 thefatasswilly
thefatasswilly's picture

Good points.

However, I don't think anything in the near future can replace oil. That black gold really is magical; the energy it provides is incredible. I do believe in innovation, but trying to replace oil is almost the same as attempting to replace sunlight . . .

With oil gone, and barring any hopium fueled replacement, wouldn't you agree that we DO have an overpopulation crisis on our hands?

Perhaps it's a matter of semantics but I do not believe that a potential resource shortage indicates that there are too many people. I think it indicates a shortage of resources. I prefer to focus on developing more resources rather than reducing demand by eliminating human beings.

Oh I'll just chime in here on this.

Fusion is the future (med-long term)

Nuclear is until then.

But until nuclear reactors are built, oil of course, is what we'll use.

As for nuclear reactors, most of the complaints are sophistry.  Oh they're too expensive.  (not really, it's the cost to build and to insure which are the vast majority)

Change the rate of amitorization. (it was actually changed to hinder it by the monetarists)...so change it back, and make it even better than original.

If the human race needs energy to survive, and we do....then we can find one area in this world or per continent, that can be a repository for this.

No, even with oil, as stands, if without monetarist inteverntions, we could feed 12 billion people, with current tech.

SO NO WE ARE NOT OVERPOPULATED.  The people that taught you that, are fucking fools.  Probably either in league with, or been dumbed down by monetarists.

Even then when you look at how much energy is wasted on useless things, not saying we could legislate it away, you could always squeeze a huge portion out of what we currently use and have no effect on overall living standards of the population AND raise that 12 billion figure even higher.  Let alone with any other tech increases along the way.

So no...eveything you think about to judge overpopulation...yes or no...is wrong...is based off of bad information, sophistry, and monetarist ideology.  You've been lied to.  You should be mad.  You should also realize you've been retarded.  I'm doing this to enlighten you, not get you to say I'm right or some shit.  I don't care about that bullcrap...just get it right.  Becuase you're going to be in the voting booth like me for the next few decades.  So let's get it right NOW.  It's in ALL of OURS best interests.

Nowhere have you said one thing that shows WHY we NEED to depopulate.

Even if you could SHOW a way, I'd never accept it.  Human beings don't accept that.  They use there head to figure it out, to find a way.  There is always another option.  If we limited ourselves to only the present paths, then we're screwed.  Thank God JFK didn't only accept the first two options in the Cuban Missle Crisis.  He waited for a third.  He was right.  Your position, would of been to take one of the two, like an imbocile.  So again, realize your flaws.  Realize that you aren't going about analyzing things in any way shape or form a correct manner.  You are too filled with faulty assumptions and sophistry and you need to break out of that. You'll be better for it.

But until then....You just want to justify your fascist position, like all fascists.  All fascist say, it's not really that bad, or we had to do it.  No, you don't.  Your way is the piss-poor easy way out for the oligarch.  (of course the oligarch's children would be screwed, but hey they don't think of them either, it's in their mentality)

There has never been a reason or a need to depopulate.  We do not face, a Kobyiashi Maru.  But somehow, you fascists want to PRETEND that we are, and in reality do everything ideologically to bring on that sad potential position for our human race.  (and hey if you don't want to be a fascist minded individual, change).  Here's some non-fascist solutions.

Glass-Steagall

Fixed Exchange Rates under New Bretton Woods

Single Payer Healthcare under Hill-Burton standard

Nuclear Power

REAL SPACE PROGRAM

Education...REAL EDUCATION..not this monetarist, sophistry filled bullshit, that even now...they just teach the test...because those metrics in scores are OH SO IMPORTANT, and tell us OH SO MUCH.

and more.

The most important THING the human race has ever done....was the Apollo program.  Nothing else in the history of investment ever paid off better.  In terms of total dollars, and in terms of total number of peoples lives improved.  Apollo, with a computer as powerful as an APPLE II.

Yet somehow real goals are impossible? Never.

The only thing that stops us from going forward, is backwards thinking, and the way human beings forget how much they are truly capable of, when not herded by the monetarists like cattle.
