"Death By Water", Or The Start Of A Fresh Flood Of bin Laden Conspiracy Theories?
Phlebas the Phoenician may not be Osama bin Laden, but the circumstances of his untimely end are oddly comparable to those surrounding the expiration of the Al Qaeda leader. Yet is there more than meets the eye. Once again, it is Politico sounding the alarm horn on a issue that is sure to inflame the "conspiratorial" bent of the population. As Politico notes in its latest must read analysis of the Osama endspiel, "while the watery grave may help diminish bin Laden’s status as a martyr
to his followers, it was already fueling conspiracy theories; as the
administration resisted releasing even photographs of the slain
terrorist leader on Monday, a predictable haze of myth and rumor had
already, inevitably, began to rise around him." Yet even the most grounded can not help by ask: why not at least present his body briefly to the "free world" and then shoot him into outer space if necessary (for all those who buy the "no shrine" theory). Although at the end of the day, the mission is more than successful: the population has a brand new and truly enveloping distraction to keep its preoccupied with largely irrelevant, although very emotionally charged, issues for a long time.
From Politico: Conspiracies say bin Laden lives
The decision to drop terror chieftain Osama bin Laden’s corpse into the Arabian Sea was the final meticulous step in a raid whose details were calculated to exert deadly force but also to achieve maximum effect in the propaganda war: the White House was careful to say bin Laden’s body had been treated according to Islamic tradition, but also to deny his followers a shrine.
But while the watery grave may help diminish bin Laden’s status as a martyr to his followers, it was already fueling conspiracy theories; as the administration resisted releasing even photographs of the slain terrorist leader on Monday, a predictable haze of myth and rumor had already, inevitably, began to rise around him.
The White House said Monday morning that it is running DNA tests on some element of Bin Laden’s remains, and that it’s debating releasing a photograph taken of him after the lethal U.S. raid on his Pakistani compound.
“The United States Government has not yet been made a decision on whether there will be a photo release,” White House spokesman Tommy Vietor said in an email.
No political leader of any weight has doubted the American story, though some Muslim leaders have criticized the action and there will be a delicate political calculation to be made by bin Laden’s presumed successor, Ayman Al Zawahiri, as to whether he confirms or denying the death.
But in an age of mistrust for authority, and when the mainstream media has lost its ability to damp down discredited theories, bin Laden’s death is already in dispute.
An arm of a Pakistani Taliban group led the charge Monday, according to Pakistan’s GEO TV, insisting that Bin Laden is still alive. Supporters rallied around a new Facebook group called, “Osama bin Laden NOT DEAD.” Meanwhile, the Pakistani and British media Monday fell prey to a recycled and faked photograph of a dead Bin Laden.
In the United States, suspicious voices rose across the political spectrum. Radio host Alex Jones, a powerful hub of anti-government sentiment and leader of those who believe the American government was behind the September 11 attacks, instantly floated his own theory: “Government had Osama bin Laden frozen for years.”
Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan wrote her supporters, “I am sorry, but if you believe the newest death of OBL, you’re stupid. Just think to yourself—they paraded Saddam’s dead sons around to prove they were dead—why do you suppose they hastily buried this version of OBL at sea? This lying, murderous Empire can only exist with your brainwashed consent—just put your flags away and THINK!”
And on the conservative site Big Government, J. Michael Walker demanded that Obama lay the corpse out in lower Manhattan. “I’ll believe it when I see it,” he wrote.
Others speculated that perhaps bin Laden had never existed at all. And throughout a Muslim world in which bin Laden’s guilt in the 9/11 attacks remains, according to polls, widely doubted, the stealthy American incursion could only stir more conspiracy theorizing.
And yet the American decision not to display the cadaver was, to many analysts, a reasonable one.
“The conspiracy theories were inevitable. Conspiracy theory and bin Laden go together like olive oil and hummus,” said Hussein Ibish, a fellow at the American Task Force on Palestine, who said that burial at sea would be less anathema to Muslims than cremation, while having roughly the same effect. “You can’t stop the conspiracy theories but you can stop the shrine.”
“Inside the region, you’re dealing with an irrational, illogical mindset to begin with. And you’ve got people in this country who believe that the moon shot was filmed in Arizona,” said Aaron David Miller, a fellow at the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars. “There will be people who think we never killed him and this is an invention and there will be people who think that he was innocent.”
The nature of modern warfare likely means that the U.S. government holds extensive video, photographic, and biometric evidence of bin Laden’s death. Government qualms about releasing photographs stem from the same impulse that led them to dispose of the body: A wish to avoid inflating the cult of a terrorist martyr.
But even photographs, in an age of digital trickery, may not convince everyone. The faked photos that re-emerged yesterday after circulating in 2009, for instance, are dramatic and compelling.
“The photos of Saddam Hussein’s sons did not really quiet the doubts about their death,” said Jon Alterman of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, who noted that the White House will probably avoid releasing photographs over the same propaganda concerns that prompted the burial at sea.
“I’m sure there are photographs. And I’m sure the administration will be extremely reluctant to release any of them if they can avoid it,” he said.
Though analysts of both American and Muslim politics said some level of conspiracy is inevitable, some factors could damp the theories down. Al-Zawahiri could use an announcement of bin Laden’s death to consolidate his organizational power. The Saudi ruling class, which owns much of the Arabic-language media, was bin Laden’s first target, and will likely celebrate his death, not perpetuate his legend. And bin Laden may be more useful to his movement as a martyr than as a myth.
“I think it’s going to be harder for them to create a conspiracy theory around this,” said Noah Pollak, the executive director of the Emergency Committee on Israel. “There’s no way to do it that flatters the Holy Warriors.”
And yet without Bin Laden’s head on a pike at the White House gate, most analysts of the running global conflict expect the theories to fester.
“Twenty years from now you, you’ll still find people in the Arabic world who insist that Osama bin Laden is still alive and living well in Karachi,” said Andrew Exum, a fellow at the Center for New American Security.

I feel rather touched that I called the Eliot reference - waxing lyrical due to booze, odd days.
At this point, I'm just admiring the plays from the WH - Obama has been sitting on the timing of this through Fox / Trump / Birthers / Teaparty [ad infinitum] and I detected a wolfy wag to his shtick at the White house press do that I'd not seen before.
He has sharp pointy teeth, and I've a feeling he's about to start enjoying himself. Offense, I think he actually likes.
Honestly, when I look at America as an outsider, I'm left puzzled. I know some of the history - the bad and the good. I know the culture (export market in any case). I've read those who write about it - even the anarchists and socially minded men such as Upton Sinclair who were driven out of its heart, forgetting that it produced them as well as any sons like Jackson (that's President Jackson, not Michael. Or perhaps that's the point, its both). I can't pretend to understand it. All I do know is that it used to strike me that parts of its psyche were still functioning against the vast callousness (H.S. Thompson's energy, even as he warned the nation comes to mind) but now it reminds me of Patrick Bateman, and that's now acceptable behaviour. Everything is spin; everything is surface; truth will get you thrown out of the game.

And I mean that quite seriously; this is round three or five of this repetitive battle, and the stakes keep getting raised. One side sees uplift and now the green revolution running out, 'endgame'; the other sees ideas such as freedom and self-awareness being taken away and what it is to be human changing. The issue is much more complicated than that, but both see each other as angels & devils; the truth (and synthesis - ye Gods, I hate Hegel) will be more radical, at least I hope it will be.
Imo, this card wasn't played to squash Trump (only the aged would give him the time of day in the polls, and they're not that significant - they can ruin your numbers / break your balls but not elect by themselves), it was to set the terms of the engagement back in the MSM. Ron Paul's support base has always been viral / rhizomatic / netcentric [insert your paradigm word of choice] as has his funding; Obama has basically shown his grip on the MSM as unparallelled - and anyone on the net is now a paranoid conspiracy theorist (as I've been trying to show - the multiplicity of meanings is pointless to chase too hard, unless you're a fan of hyperstition; which luckily, I am; unluckily for America, so are the 'other side' - http://blog.urbanomic.com/sphaleotas/archives/000489.html ).
At this point - fairly sure this was the moment Obama declared that he was having a second term, discussion over & he'd not lost his touch; any other outcome is unlikely, imo.
I'll break down the plays -
#1 WH has been handing over rope dragging out the birther issue because a) they view it as insane - to their mind, who cares if he was even Kenyan? and b) it is an easy issue to deflect / revert, and c) there's much harder ones out there which they don't want to discuss. Like 14 trillion dollars.
#2 Initial birth certificate dribbles into fervour for a figure-head to 'take up the cause'. Teaparties are probably viewed as dangerous at this time, due to their aping of a radical form, and the figures they've thrown into the heights [witness the current massacre of Republican tea party candidates by their own side, not even democratically - its hilarious, if tragic; I'm reminded of "useful idiots" again Soviet style]. Trump is a horror show, but he fits the bill of "leonine responsible weighty figure of financial wealth" [ignoring his chapter 11 history - the PR is still there and he's on TV] so gets to have his limelight.

Watch Trump realise he's been played [did he ever believe his play had traction? No idea on his level of self-delusion]. Obama basically comes out to the media and says "fuck you, these are now non-issues". [In the wings, Fox is getting flack from other sources, btw]. He makes it clear, the day before Bin Ladin, that the media is now irrelevant. Saturday was Obama proving why he was picked from obscurity [like Clinton was, like Blair was] and hits the ball out of the park, and reminds the surrounding pack that he's got big teeth. Nails it - the proof? Look at the photos of Michelle - she's not having a good night before he seals the deal. Looks positively feral. Afterwards? Smiles of 'Iwin' all around.
#4 Interrupting the Sunday Trump show is just icing - he delayed for an hour extra just to hammer home the point. But Bin Laden was actually for the voters. "Wake up, real world still exists, I absolve you of fear if you're simple enough to be part of the Fox / Trump watching demographic. Sleep well, I am protecting your dreams". I'm not sure how 'real' the fear in America has been (*cough*) but I'm sure to Fox / Glen Beck listeners, it has been - and the transformative power of releasing people (however manufactured that fear is) is huge. GW didn't get to play the card, because he wasn't allowed to - simple as that; he had his 'Top Gun' moment, and no more; he'd cashed the cheque to use fear - you don't get to cash the other one. The actual point of the card was to test the Disney angle - and it worked, or at least might be working, for the people still in tune with MSM.
Or they simply don't give a fuck anymore, and are playing around because they know the next three plays - your choice.
[Oh, and it was required, if we do some Dan Brown - America is the land of progress, can't be upstaged by the Firm / the Church, but this is old style hyperstition I find archaic]

a) we're not given all of the information

Here is my conspiracy theory - During the initial invasion of Afghanistan Delta Force operators obtained a radio belonging to one of OBL's peeps. Using this radio Delta Force operators were able to determine OBL's location, condition, and status of his forces. Delta Force coordinated devastating air attacks on the mountains of Tora Bora, but Bush would not allow OBL to be killed or captured at that time. And, according to "Dalton Furry" a Delta Force operator, OBL and many of his team were allowed to escape into Pakaistan. US intelligence and Pakistani intlligence always new when and wher OBL was because he was protected by the Pakistani's with our approval. Pakistan was to keep OBL safe and secure until the US decided to "kill" him. In return the US paid Pakistan tens of billions of ddollars per year for their help and trouble, while the US took control of Afghanistan to consolidate its bases and increase pressure on Iran. For some reason, yet to be revealed, the US decided it was time to "kill" OBL and with the cooperation of non-cooperation of Pakistan, Pakistan made sure OBL was in the right place at the right time, or at least helped pretend he was in the right place at the right time (even if the Paki intelligene stuffed an OBL stooge there to be killed by special operators to help the story). So, now OBL is "dead." The key question, what is next? Total withdrawl from Afghanistan? A "retaliatory" strike by Al Queda? OBL #2 pops up somewhere? We shall soon see.

MESSAGE TO THOSE WHO CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH (this would include almost all who participate in the mainstream media, and those who cannot digest and handle the facts). My CON Game Radar has been going full scale tilt lately – and there are enough data points of fact to confirm without any doubt that my Con Game Radar has good reason to lack trust. I am going to stay focused and on point – the subjects I am about to cover are absolutely on point and have vast implications for our economy. Do not shoot the messenger, and in the process the facts!
Taboo subject #1 – Obama’s recently released long form Birth Certificate. This is now CONFIRMED to be a manipulated FAKE. Many people have now analyzed it, and it was pieced together on a computer – you now cannot dispute that FACT. There are so many manipulations that it is crazy and makes you wonder why such a glaring forgery was presented to the public. There are at least two smoking guns in all the manipulations, the latest is the fact that Adobe’s software tracks how a picture is assembled…this “certificate” was assembled and manipulated together from pieces found on the internet.
Can you process that?
It’s a fake. Forging official birth certificates is against the law. Having the President of the United States present a fake certificate is something entirely different altogether. It represents the height of the breakdown of the rule of law.
Now, who produced it and why is one question that must be answer. You cannot laugh this away or claim “nutjob” over this fact. The fact that Obama and the media are making jokes and painting those looking into it as nutjobs is a sick and twisted form of manipulation. Even if Obama was set up with this obvious fake, he is guilty of not doing his own due diligence and of not appointing a competent team to surround him. This is absolutely worthy of removing him from office – process the facts. The real question in my mind is why is he so obviously being set up, and by whom?
Process it – deal with it.
Bizarre Subject #2: Osama bin Laden’s Death. Here I do not have smoking gun facts, but my manipulation radar is going off like mad, and it did so from the instant this was announced – here’s why…
Well BEFORE this was announced publically, oil, silver, and gold in the futures market began to tank. In fact, silver gapped down 10%.
Now, this is evidence of nothing more than the usual insider information flow, and insider manipulation. But again, it’s about TRUST. You want to invest in markets where insiders move you positions 10%+ on the open based on information that had to come from the inside of the Administration? Information you don’t possess at the same time? Not me, no thanks…no trust.
Now, overnight pictures of a dead Osama were published by some mainstream media. Those pictures, it turns out, were also fake – pulled straight off the internet and have been around for years. Oops – now retracted, great reporting.
Then this morning it was announced that Osama’s dead corpse was buried at sea!!! Now my manipulation radar is SCREAMING at me! Nice justification to hid evidence – oh yeah, DNA samples are being processed…but we had to bury him at sea to satisfy Muslim beliefs!
Tell me one time in history – just one time – that anything like that has ever been done in such a hasty manner. Sorry, but if you are buying all of this, I have some swamp land in Florida for you. Again, I don’t have any smoking gun facts here, but let me just say that the way this was handled does anything but build trust.
Process it – and ask yourself why did this happen now?
From my perspective the forged Birth Certificate is a show stopper – if the media fails to pick up on it, and if the President is not held accountable for its presentation, then there’s really no need to even go on discussing “markets.” There will be no rule of law, and those who participate in these “markets,” or who fail to acknowledge this CRIME will be complicit in allowing the breakdown of the rule of law, and in the accompanying lack of trust and destruction of confidence.
Oh, and don’t forget the bizarre handling of the still raging nuclear accident still in progress – the breakdown of the rule of law, the corporate capture, the GREED….
And equally BIZARRE is the complete and total CAPTURE that has occurred with corporations and their “regulators.” Here are the two MORE glaring examples:

I’m going to say this exactly one last time today, and I’m going to turn the tables on the mainstream – those who fail to acknowledge and act upon the facts are complicit in the breakdown of the rule of law. You cannot laugh this off or joke about the “nutjobs” any longer.
I think that anyone who participated in these manipulated markets is both a fool and is also complicit in feeding the blatant manipulation. The markets are not only not free, they are not even real – what they are is insider manipulated to the max – again complete corporate capture, no regulators.
I sadly note that today the media and a great percentage of our population is celebrating like we’re the great slayer of evil – how removed from reality can we get? Body dumped in the ocean? Come on. The breakdown of the rule of law is so in your face that you simply cannot ignore it any longer – and if our collective conscious doesn’t act to remove this Administration then I’m going to write off my effort to present reality and move on…

OK, this needs to be mentioned. I was watching the ball game on ESPN when the news hit. Went over to CNN and FoxNews and both were touting an AP story that said the raid happened A WEEK AGO and the Pres and his men were waiting for DNA positive test results.
By the time Obama took his victory lap speech, that story had disappeared. I'm sure I'm not the only one who saw it on the scroll on both FoxNews and CNN.
Truth of the matter is in the timing. The money merchants needed something to pump the dollar and crash silver (and gold) because the Fed doesn't like competing currencies.
So, you have gold soaring, silver about to go into orbit, debt out of control, QE2 ending and the debt ceiling issue rising... presto, kill public enema #1, smash the silver smarties, hammer the gold bugs, then, at the close of trading, have Timmah come out and extend the debt default date a few weeks (months?).

Believe what you want, but I believe that whomever is behind the curtain puts great significance in things like what you mentioned. They start wars on certain days, assassinate at a certain time and day that has significance to them, and some times we see it like you just did. Yes, there are coincidences, but with major world events, too many to be coincidence.
I, like many others, worry very much what they are up to now. I am positive nothing good is coming down the pike. This show was for more than just covering up the UK Le Lee birth certificate. That thing was too fake to waste this show to divert attention.

What is interesting to me here (and refreshing) is that a large number of its people simply don't believe and won't passively accept what the United States Govt and security apparatus is saying any longer. You can hardly blame them for that after the past 10 years of murderous lies and criminals from JPM and GS working as advisors and admin in the Govt, rather than sweeping Prison yards. So people rightly now instantly presume they’re being lied to and intentionally mislead', as their experience has led then to the realization that that generalization is more likely true, than not.
And its also a symptom of the fact that clearly dangerous to trust what the US Govt says, especially with ZERO DIRECT TESTABLE AND VERIFIABLE PHYSICAL MATERIAL EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE for its claims and inconsistent versions of reality.
I kind of have a problem with that.
