Dodd Says Bernanke May Not Be Confirmed Before Christmas
Per the WSJ, looks like this whole "halting" thing may be useful after all.
WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd, (D, Conn.) said Thursday that a vote to confirm Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke to a new term may not take place before Christmas.
Asked if he anticipates a confirmation vote on a second term for Bernanke, Dodd told reporters, "I don't know. We'll try. I have to talk to my colleagues."
Dodd spoke to reporters as he left the hearing on Capitol Hill, which is winding down as Bernanke takes a final question or two.

How does the hold in committee work? If Sanders and Bunning try to put the confirmation on hold, is it within the committee rules for Dodd to override their hold? Is there some sort of Senate colleague protocol that would cause Dodd to hesitate?
If there's a hold, they need 60 votes in the Senate to override it and bring the nomination to a full Senate vote.
Think filibuster and attempted override.
Otherwise, they just need 51 votes.

Americans are beginning to pay attention...the Rasmussed poll is something politicians paid attention to.
And, sending emails and phoning their offices does make a difference.

I called my senator and resorted to begging that he review bernankes statements while he has been fed chairman, and asked for a written response as to which one of the fed chairman's statements that the senator believed worked out as anticipated by bernanke...
