Dollar Breaks As USDJPY Falls To 15 Year Low Of 80.84

Tyler Durden's picture

Are banks merely using today's TIPS monetization proceeds as collateral to short the crap out of the dollar? Or is this a typical "take out the stops" shakedown: one look at the USDJPY below tells you all you need to know about who is winning today's FX offensive.

A plunging dollar (clearly showed in the chart) is only bad news if you mind paying more for food and gas, worry about the reserve aspect of the currency, and don't believe in all of the academic research that competitive devaluations are ultimately unsuccessful.

If you view the world narrowly through the most recent stock quote, then yea, no problems here.

Yahoo has some really nice stock forums...

Guys,

This is serious.  It seems there is going to be a lot of distraction coming from UFOs.  You heard right, UFOs.

I'll like to get your reactions.  Could it be that government is planning to control people and countries (including markets and economies) with this kind of stuff?  I've seen plenty of conspiracy stuff & UFOs theories in Youtube.  But is it actually happening?

Spalding, I get your junk and video post.  Just check it out.  The video cameras are from ABC and CBS News recording everything that is happening in Manhattan on October 13th during the day.  Other news are reporting the same all over the world.

That is why i said it was serious.  This could mean a lot for society.

Well, I'm the biggest UFO sceptic around, but I have seen some weird shit the last couple of years. I live in a rural area about 50 miles from Nashville TN. Last June, I was hanging out in my backyard just after sunset enjoying a cold one, when I noticed a very low, slow moving, triangle shaped "craft" moving silently above the trees. The most striking aspect was the shear size of the craft, it was huge, yet silent. It passed directly over head and was in sharp contrast with the star lit background of the sky, no running lights, no strobe lights, no navigation lights, nothing, just one gigantic, black triangle.

Funny you should post this today, because just last night, another strange sighting. At about 8:30 PM, I heard what sounded like an invasion of Helicopters, I stepped outside to see what was going on, and I almost shit myself. Okay, there was a total of what appeared to be 8 military Blackhawk helicopters, and one Bogey flying along at a VERY low altitude. The Blackhawks appeared to be escorting the Bogey, 3 Blackhawks leading the way, then the Bogey, then 4 Blackhawks following close behind, then one Blackhawk or smaller helicopter flying in a standoff position. Again, the Bogey had no lights, and appeared as a large, black object against the sky...any ideas??

no ideas Rusty, but mad props for that post, given the likely audience reaction "here" - *grin*

I've witnessed a few unexplained sightings over the years, and tend towards a more open-minded approach to "reality" - in that it's impossible for me to know everything, so entertaining the "new" is not frightening, nor challenging to the mindset - rigidity always meets resistance / shock, staying fluid. . . flows.

anyone else remember the reuters story released end of week, saying some "high ranking" military were arranging a press conference the following monday to speak of extra-terrestrial contacts kept secret over the years?  of course, didn't happen/can't find the story - but it was linked here, maybe from september?

ahhh, everything's up in the air now, lol *wink*

Thanks Horatio.  i dont recall exactly operation bluebeam, but I'm pretty sure I've seen it in one of those youtube videos.  Aren't they going to project some stuff in the sky.  I don't blame people that junk me, because it sounds pretty junkable stuff.  It is starting to sound real.

This stuff came out on ABC and CBS news on their video cameras.  So, it is starting to come out to the masses on MSM

Hedge Funds are dumping the USD for two reasons:  1)Medley's comments about QE II happening soon, and 2)the belief that at the G20 meeting this weekend there will be another "Plaza Accord" where everyone accepts a one-time devaluation of the USD.  I do ot agree with either one but these are the rumors.  Note that besides Merkel's bearish EUR comments, the Portuguese opposition leaders refused to accept the new austerity budget, again negative for the EUR.

The spin from the Administration has begun.

"

Then, on Sunday, the game began to change.

In a Huffington Post post, HUD secretary Shaun Donovan began shifting the conversation back to the housing market, ever so-slightly, tucking it in while still calling some foreclosure practices, "shameful." Then yesterday we were informed of an "Administration-wide meeting with key federal agencies and regulators regarding the ongoing foreclosure processing issue." Closed to press of course. The HUD Secretary, Treasury Secretary, folks from Justice and other top regulators are confabbing this morning, to what end, I really don't know. As a precursor, Secretary Donovan took to our air this morning and made a rather bold statement: "We are not finding any evidence of underlying structural issues that would make [mortgage] securitizations suspect or otherwise." He stressed that banks need to be held accountable for any paperwork issues, but then he launched into his real message. "Where we haven't found issues, we need to make sure that homeowners that are sitting in limbo right now, waiting to buy homes, neighbors who are seeing houses sit vacant in their communities, that we move forward." "

Blythe worked awfully hard to establish all those fresh shorts yesterday. She's doubling-down today in an attempt to keep them all above water. She's hammering back every bid below 1346.

Now, a move through 1346 on the Dec10 and you will see a very quick, short-covering pop back to 1360. If the USDX stays where it is or gets weaker, this'll happen before 1:00 edt.

Its China diversifying dollar assets (selling dollars) into non-dollar assets (buying yen, eur, raul, etc). This is why (I speculate) timmy wants to call them out as a currency maniplulator. Its not just yuan pegging, but outright accelerating of dollar selling by China. No one knows what PBoC is doing, except timmy, summers etc maybe some congressmen other CB's. But I bet when QE2 lite was announced, then a jackson hole speech that confirmed more monetization, really pissed off China. China then went defensive by ridding of anything tied to dollar (not sure if they are selling tresuries yet). China wants to do business with strong currencies to continue their exports, and right now they might realize Big Ben is not bluffing.

At least this is my 2 cents.
