It may sound cold, but should you find yourself in this situation, gather any living family members and leave immediately. A second bomb may be waiting for the first responders to arrive, or a second plane could be inbound, etc.
Yes. That tactic brought to fame by the IRA. Get away...
From BBC:
Hmmm. Ball bearings?
Please forgive the inappropriate levity, but
"Hhheeyyy! Maybe you guys need a refresher course! It's ALL ball bearings these days!"
Well played

Come git' sum!
Of course that was what popped into my head, but, damn man, you actually said it. Cold. Very cold. Not forgiven.
...love that shape.
You were expecting gumdrops and skittles, perhaps?
I am Chumbawamba.
Politicians need to pass a bill to ban ball bearings to make us safe! /sarcasm
Don't give Chertie and Nappy any more ideas!
We need to make nails and ball bearings a restricted item where only persons with a licence and have passed a background check can buy them. If nails and bearings were appropriately regulated this never would have happened.
ball bearing go on killing spree... they are so sharp... ban them!
Classic dude, right out of the cookbook. Ballbearings, nails, glass, it all works the same when it's traveling at 500fps.
http://books.google.com/books?id=hE_ILiFEqmQC&pg=PT206&lpg=PT206&dq=blast+speed+fps&source=bl&ots=V05jvlAYQU&sig=qDArPCrkVcmXCKrPIe6lycJPvts&hl=en&ei=SME9TZmcF82hOqDBrIAL&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=7&sqi=2&ved=0CD8Q6AEwBg#v=onepage&q=blast%20speed%20fps&f=false
50 fps... is all that is needed.
I wonder if they just mean the rolling elements (i.e., the "balls") as opposed complete ball bearings...
I think rolling elements for industrial size ball bearings can easily be the size of large marbles...even golf balls...I think...
...and they are usually made of steel...
One of them moving at high speed can do a lot of damage.
In British English (ie BBC) "ball bearings" invariably means steel balls, normally smaller than a marble.
Hmm. Cowen just had to step down. Gather close all the rest of you Fianna Fail and Labour party members!
Wise words Mr. Horseman!! In this video I witness what happens to a body when confronted with something so frightningly dangerous your body gives you an almost leathel dose of it's homade drugs. Thus the freeze before the ecape threw the carnage.
The camera man looks to the double door way and changes his mind...I think he was right. The safest way to go was the other way....wrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!! has the most probabity of where 2nd charges may be. Goes to show how experanced the average Russian is.
The first part I agree with, except this....
A second bomb may be waiting for the first responders to arrive, or a second plane could be inbound...
Where'd you peel that from? FAUX News?
I worked on nuclear bombs in a former life. Kept them clean and painted. You know: "a clean bomb is a happy bomb". Anyway, one of them had a timer that could be set up to several days after it was dropped. That way it would take out the first responders and rescuers that had shown up. It had a nick name, of course. "Spectator Dissipator". Who says military folks don't have a sense of humer?

I read in a blog that ' A technology will be developed by us in the future where every human on this planet will get the power to potentially wipe out the whole human race in an instant'
How will we survive that technology with our current mindset?
http://www.fullmoon.nu/articles/art.php?id=tal
That's an absolutely sublime question IMO. Every person holds the M.A.D. card. Is this the inflection point for intelligent life forms to get to the next level?
Expect an announcement soon that there will be body scan stations setup outside the airport perimeter and that security vans will shuttle passengers to the terminals.
Oh, it may end up going well beyond that. TSA has already started experimenting with highway checkpoints., as well as screening stations for trains, buses, and ferries.
DHS VIPER
>A technology will be developed by us in the future where every human on this planet will get the power to potentially wipe out the whole human race in an instant'
This could be one explanation for the "Great Filter".
Why hasn't the galaxy been completely colonized by a technologically advanced civilization? An extraterrestial species that evolved, say only 2%, faster than us (i.e. at our level of technology 100 million years ago) should have colonized it by now.
Either the Great Filter is in our past, meaning that life is extremely unlikely to develop on its own and probably no one else is in our galaxy.
Or, the Great Filter is in our future: every civilization is overwhelmingly likely to annihilate itself before colonizing other stars.
(Or there might be another explanation, like we are intentionally quarantined or being observed without us knowing.)
More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Filter
How about this. The chance of life evolving on it's own from nonliving matter through mindless, random proesses is ZERO. Not a very small number, but ZERO. Stick that in the Drake Equation and see what happens.
I'll pick "Theists" for a thousand, Alex
What is the probability of an omnipotent being "evolving" on its own from nonliving matter?
Do you have evidence that it hasn't been?
Would an advanced civilization necessarily need to be apparent in the same dimension as us?
Perhaps the advance is simply dimensional, which is to say perhaps the great filter is simply a perceptual one between dimensions?
Do cows know they will be slaughtered?
How do the perceive humans?
How do you know it is you thinking and not something uses you to translate its thoughts?
One interesting observation. The biggest number of animals on the planet are cows and pigs. Why? Because we eat them. Now, what is the total number of humans?
I read in a blog that ' A technology will be developed by us in the future where every human on this planet will get the power to potentially wipe out the whole human race in an instant'
Pffft! Good for that blogger. They'll need to know that we already have that capability and that 'technology' has been around for a while. You may have heard of it. They're known as 'nuclear weapons'.

I expected to see some bloody corpses and all you see is a foggy picture of nothing, what a let down
Did you watch to the end of the video? Not sure how you missed the pile of bodies there at the end otherwise.
What's wrong with you?
My doctor hasn't figured it out yet, I tell you as soon as he tells me ^^
..
Just was on the phone with my doctor he's not 100% certain, most likely it's 'General Disdain of the Human Race', he said that it can be a permanent condition incurable with current state of medicine
Is there a need for someone such as your self to continue suffering us? Take the high road friend.
Maybe you need a charisma transplant.
"What a let down...." If you want blood cut of your hand and wipe the stump on your face. Or is it just other's pain you find interesting?
The caption says:
There aren't limbs and body parts laying around in plain view. The video doesn't have any gruesome or gore.
True. It doesn't even qualify as a B movie.
Still, they're all just as dead.
No! It qualiy as AAA populust fuck you...The Atlantic ocean starts looking small when you take such things into acount?

Shit, one of the wackos finally figured out what the rest of us have been really concerned about... There is no need to blow-up the planes when you've got so many people right inside the front door.
Yep, if you've seen some of the wrap-around lines for the security check at the US airports you'd realize what a recipe that is for disaster. Several thousand people in a tight, compact area.
Zackly!.. It's beyond my thinking how anyone has even the most faint or remote idea that these events can be stopped... Impossible.. Although, the attempt by governments to stop them could (and have) change our lives..
This is very sad..
Maybe now the Gov't can limit the right for people to huddle together under the First Amendment:
I'm not smart. And I've been saying for a long time that security is an illusion to promote power and control over others. I can't, for the life of me understand how people think that what the TSA is doing here is anything but a power grab. The dangerous buffoons who say, "Well. if you don't like it, just don't fly! I feel more secure this way!!!"
Coming soon to a US airport near you.
Wonder what the new security measures will look like when several hundred are killed waiting in line at dawn for a new i-Shit issuance from the world of consumerism? Or, Black Friday at Walmart could become Red Friday.
Quit being naive.
Airport security has never been about securing the passengers. They just don't want a crazy person to be able to fly a large cruise missile into one of 'their' buildings.
I'm...amazed, I guess, that no one has yet taken advantage of the one vulnerability that cannot be addressed without totally and permanently shutting down air travel, at least the way we "enjoy" it today.
That this hasn't happened yet is a testament to the absolute lie that is the "War on Terror".
Keyword: yet.
I am Chumbawamba.
Chumba, for once I completely agree with you. Have a scotch on me.
Y, so much for the full body scanners in the USA. At least it provides entertainment for the TSA - feeling up kids and looking at naked hot chicks.
It's about money flowing to the "Anti-Terror Machine," not safety.
What stock do you think could profit from it?
Maybe it's a Marketing trick from a US defense contractor?
If so, I do think they should have spend a bit mone on FX...
Only one solution to this..We will need body scanners in Wal-Mart, your job places, Best Buy and eventually your homes.
They will keep you safe no matter what the costs to your liberty.
Yes... Yes... we need the government to keep us safe.. I'm hoping they want to put a camera in my home with a direct feed to DHS.. This is the ONLY way I will feel safe..
I have nothing to hide.. What do I care.. /sarc off/
The cost of liberty is a nice irradiating glow of radiation particles.
Who can complain of a free metastasis?
I suggest a green blinking light (we have the technology)on the forehead of every American who satisfy the "authorities" and a red on the head who don't. this way security problem will be solved. Aha ,,, it reminds me a "Star" on the forehead in Germany
True story: I recently had reason to travel a great distance and a road trip (my prefered form of travel) was basically out of the question. So I had to fly. TSA, unsurprisingly, was primarily a joke on both ends. None of my fears were realized: not once did I even see a whole body scanner, though I did see old ladies being felt up.
But that's not the story. This story is about a joint I had thrown in my laptop bag earlier in the week that I forgot to remember. TSA bitch has need to search through my bag due to some highly dangerous and lethal screwdriver bits I had with a multitool. She finds the joint, looks at it, then puts it back in the bag. She tells me to hold on and goes and fetches an older TSA guy. She opens the pocket in the bag with the joint for him to see it. He looks at it, then tries to figure out how he's going to take it out without actually touching it. I finally break the tension and explain that it's "just tobacco". The older gentleman looks at me square in the eye and asks, "Sir, do you roll your own cigarettes?" To which I calmly replied, "I do." He tells the younger TSA goon that everything is fine. She seems befuddled, confused, disappointed almost. One last check of my bag through the scanner finds another set of tool bits that I forgot to remember. TSA gives me the option to check my bag. Sorry, not worth the $25 luggage fee, and certainly not worth another chance for TSA to find the rest of my weed secreted away in various pockets, and in particular the very dirty weed pipe in my carry-on bag.
Naw, keep the bits, TSA. And go fuck yourselves. I'ma go enjoy this "cigarette".
I am Chumbawamba.
You would enjoy the character "Squiggy" on the excellent WebComic "Sinfest." Get back with me on that, will you?
"She seems befuddled, confused, disappointed almost" she thought she had your number, maybe she wanted to do a 'little strip search' in the back, maybe she wanted to keep the 'cigarette' for her self, I bet she will do half a year counseling because of the 'emotional distress' caused by you Not having any 'illegal' stuff on board
it was in the arrivals area, which means it could have been in a mall or any public location so coming to an American airport near you, mandatory body scans just to gain entrance to the terminal.
of course anything is okay so long as we are kept safe
Then you just pile people up at the doors instead of inside. There is no way to prevent this kind of thing in thousands of places, except one. You look for terrorists instead of bombs and weapons. I do not know why we cannot get that through our thick TSA-government skulls. I will bet you doughnuts to dollars there were relatively obvious suspects roaming around. Given an Israeli trained eye they might have been spotted. Instead we do the "herd the cattle" things everywhere putting ourselves into long lines and delays looking for nail clippers and 6oz clear liquids.
It will be interesting to see who did this as the usual suspects come to mind.
No worries.. You will soon have to register weeks in advance if you plan to travel, crazy janet will be by to grope your package days in advance, this is purely for your safety.. Say, is that a gunsafe in your closet, assume the position beeeatch..

Islamic terrorism from the Northern provinces?
They said they'd bring it to the heartland of Russia.
Read news much? Chechens took over a theatre in Moscow years ago.. Russians injured/killed half the hostages with the gas they used to retake the theater..
“Terrorists” and hooligans is how all dictators describe dissident uprisings. Then they bring in their trained demonstrators and all the paraphernalia of crowd control—the police, the weapons, the tanks…
While peoples today struggle for survival, food and peace, The U.S., the U.K. and Israel continue with the summary executions, food and medical sanctions, torture, sudden disappearance of neighbors, and destruction of homes and homelands.
As Robert Grenier, former CIA counter-terrorism official, said after reading “The Palestinian Papers”: The movement for a two-state project “since the signing of the Oslo Accords in 1993, insisted upon by Israelis and Americans alike, has been for the Palestinians to establish full control over radical elements who might abjure violence in pursuit of Palestinian aims, and to demonstrate the willingness and ability to identify, track down, and arrest or kill anyone involved in terrorism—even as broadly defined to include those who, in other times and places, would be seen as engaged in legitimate armed resistance to oppression.”
The point is, “terrorism” is in the eye of the beholder. Israel and the U.S. want to identify freedom fighters as terrorists… Here are examples of political “terrorism” engaged in by superpowers:
1) Diplomat: US to End Lebanon Aid if Hezbollah Forms Govt | Antiwar.com | Jan. 23, 2011
A top, though unnamed US diplomat has warned that the Obama Administration will revoke all aid to the Lebanese government if, as seems to be increasingly likely, the March 8 coalition manages to form a government…
The US had been vigorously backing the March 14 bloc and outgoing Prime Minister Saad Hariri, to the extent that Vice President Biden made a high profile state visit just to campaign for the Hariri faction ahead of the last election. They narrowly won, but their unity government collapsed just over a week ago.
2) False, incendiary claims such as made by GDE on Zero Hedge today #898328: “Historically, Arabs stole the Middle East lands to Jews and Christians and that land you call Paslestine was only occupated by a bunch of Bedouins and Jews living as dhimmis. There was nothing there before Israel.”
The Balfour Declaration, a letter in 1917 from British Foreign Secretary Arthur James Balfour to Lord Rothschild, made public the British support of a Jewish homeland in Palestine after years of negotiation…leading to the Palestine Mandate in 1922.
From Margaret MacMillan’s book, “Paris 1919” :
“The Balfour Declaration had promised such protection for what it called ‘the existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine,’ a curious formulation when Palestinian Arabs, most of them Muslim but including some Christians, made up about four-fifths of a population of 700,000. It also reflected a tendency on the part of both the world’s statesmen and Zionist leaders to see Palestine as somehow empty. ‘If the Zionists do not go there,’ said Sir Mark Sykes firmly, ‘some one will, nature abhors a vacuum.’ A British Zionist is supposed to have coined the phrase ‘The land without people—for the people without land.’”
Balfour, in 1925, on his first visit to Palestine since the Jews were established there, “was touched by the reception he received throughout Palestine from Jews but failed to notice the Arabs in mourning and the shops closed in protest. His private secretary destroyed the hundreds of angry telegrams he received from Arabs before he could see them. When he and his party moved on to Syria to do some sight seeing, the French authorities mounted a guard around him, much to his annoyance. In Damascus, his hotel was surrounded by an excited crowd of 6000 Arabs. As the paving stones started to fly, and the French cavalry fired back, Balfour watched bemused. A young Arab attached to his party tried to explain why there was such opposition to Zionism. Balfour merely replied that he found the results of his experiment, ‘Extraordinarily interesting.'
“He sailed back to Europe on the Sphinx.”
Today, the aftermath.
Well.. you are quite the anti Semitic racist..
Next thing, you will be saying there were no WMD's in Iraq.. /sarc off/

'They'. Whatever. Get off the Islamophobic train, dude. Try this on for size instead. Last week Medvedev says Russia recognizes Palestine and, coincidentally, this week, this takes place. Perhaps Mossad is at it again.

The entire charade associated with flying, the herding of sheep into a metal cylinder flying too fast and too high..... just plain nuts.
And now this... grope grope, herd herd, constant noise, airports are full of harried people. Harried and hurried.

It's not just the TSA who get their rocks off on hot chicks. Here's a real life example.
I was walking out of the county court building the other day (filing for eviction of deadbeat tenants) and they have a nice setup of about 12 cops and two scanning machines (for bags and coats), who were idling - nobody coming in.
When you walk out, you go past the checkpoint and towards anyone entering. So, I'm walking past and I see a very nice looking woman coming forward. A cop shouts out, "we've got a situation." At first, I wondered what the hell he was talking about, then I got it. He was sending code to his leering buddies that a nice looking woman was headed their way.
And we're paying these 12 a-holes about $70K per year to protect judges?
I wonder what would happen if a real "situation" took place. These jack-asses would probably be leaning over each other to see what's coming while somebody else takes their heads off.
Pretty pathetic, IMO. BTW: I hate courts, law, cops, officials, judges, mayors, etc. All overpaid douche-bags.
The problem with vengeance and rushing to.judgment is that often innocents are killed or injured. I dont like collateral damage especially if the collateral were my family. I hope the russians dont.go crazy because that could create some.justifiably.angry people and the cycle.continues.
I sure hope they don't do anything crazy like invading two countries or something crazy like that.
I agree. Two wrongs do not make a right.
3 lefts do make a right.
True.
If you take the first left with a 45 degree angle and after a few yard again and again, you'll go in the same direction you would have taken if you took the right on the first place :)

What's wrong for you is right for somebody else.
Didn't the US invade Iraq and Afghanistan because some idiot in a cave played with planes? Over 1000.000 Iraqi citizens died for those 6000 death people in the towers.
Anybody say: "out of proportion"?
It was right enough for you Americans to do so. You even insulted the Europeans because they didn't wanted to kill all those innocent citizens over there who had nothing to do with it.
I wonder how many junks I'll collect with this one :)
Sudden, I think the War of Terror is going splendidly.
Look at our citizens, they're terrified of their own shadow!

Was found at the scene. OH SHITJunks minus responses are for the mental midget cowards...
but I will say this... if you think the faggit, hippy, liberal fucking goobermint is down with over reaching... then my nuke the whole fucking place would seem dis-proportionate... I can only assume.
You are lucky to have them, by comparison to me.
Maybe you should have grown up hear. Their is a import shop around the corner if you hate american chocolate so much.
Out of proportion? WTF? Why don't you tell all of us what is the correct proportion.
well, it seems that airport bombings in foreign countries are not only bad news for the families and countrymen effected by it, but also not particualrly good for the world currency or the PM's.
the u.s. stock market though, somehow seems not to care.
The culture of death persists..........
What surprises me about that video is everyone walking around seems so calm. Are they in shock?
prozac based explosives maybe?
Not here, in the the US all authorities would immediately evacuate. The blast location would be cordoned off for blocks. DHS and other clowns would set up a mobile command/media post at one quarter mile. State control media would report that we not jump to conclusions...but "this may be the act of a teapartier". After clearance from the EPA twelve hours later, a battery operated (clean) remote controlled robot would be rolled in for a gander to look for suspects.
Latest reports had the bomb as a multi-1000lb. one loaded in baggage handling equipment and parked next to the terminal. Large enough to cave in walls and windows and with the ball bearings, explains the bodies lying in rows and stacked up. Explosive force and shrapnel brought them down were they were lined up. Not sure I'm ever going to fly again between TSA and crap like this. And then as I'm looking up some news sources for it all I see are people killing cops, coworkers, Walmart shoppers, and senators plastered all over the pages(4 cops just here in FL, 4 wounded in CA, etc. etc.). Think the masses are starting to lose it?
The device is thought to have contained the equivalent of 7kg (15lb) of TNT.
"The explosion occurred in the international arrivals hall in a public area, to which people who are not passengers have free access," airport spokeswoman Yelena Galanova told Interfax news agency.
According to eyewitnesses quoted by Russian TV's Vesti news programme, before detonating the explosives the bomber shouted: "I'll kill you all!"
Yep...turned out to be a Faux News 'Eyewitness' video...now I know why I don't monitor MSM outlets. Back to the Bat Cave...
