With widely publicized stories about Goldman raking in $50 million per day, trading outfits are rushing and racing to get Joe Sixpack equipped with a Hi-Fi Robot Trading setup.

Here's an "old school" trading floor:

Now we have a new type of trading floor:

With millions unemployed, other bucket shop companies are now trying to reel in Joe Sixpack, so he too can become a Hi-Fi trader.  Ran into this ad the other day, an automated Program Robot trading platform for FX:

With the O-Team floating trillions of new funny money around, now everyone can get rich by becoming a RobotTrader...LOL..

Chart of the day is Limited Brands:

Another "resilient consumer" stock on a tear today:

The truly priceless part is that if you search job sites, there are a lot of "WANTED" ads for quants to develop hi-frequency trading programs.

Hmm, must be GS competitors.

Just an hour ago, I noticed that a tech recruiter I had worked with in the past was looking for science folks for the development of high frequency trading algos! Not a move I would recommend to anyone right now ....

Abby J says today its a new bull mkt- yep, its been her all along, decked in black leather, nails and spikes, behind the Green Door, directing those fembots as they crack the whips on the tatooed gameboys. You'd never guess from her sedate demeanor on CNBC

I have been trying to stay off the CNBC Crack-pipe for the past several weeks and have been reasonably successful IMO, cuttng my time watching/listening that shit channel from 12 hours a day to less than 45 minutes per day.  However, for the few times I tuned in today I was yet gain amazed at those idiots giving a massive amount of attention to the TWITTER outage....meanwhile, over on Bloomburger, they were focusing on numerous actual market related issues and topics.....silly Bloombuger

Watching CNBC daily is the most accurate guide of trader sentiment, so I would pay attention if I could full time.

Pretty mixed bag right now, cheerleaders are all bullish like they usually are, but the "technicians" are all squealing about the coming "correction"....

Thu, 08/06/2009 - 16:39 | 28135 Trader Joe
Trader Joe's picture

I hear ya....

Lots of folks are hedging themselves, warning about "the coming correction."  Problem is, many of these same dingle-berries have been warning about "a correction", first at 7,000, then 7,500, then at 8,000 and again at 8,500 (you get the idea).

What happens if we don't get a 1,500-2,000 point correction?  Will these same worry warts, that also missed the entire 2003-2008 equity gangbang, just continue to warn the correction is immanent?  Who knows....I sure don't.

Or, if we do get a 2,000 wash out or protected drop....do you think they will then be "ready to buy"....I don't.....these were the same clowns that thought S&PeePee 666 was still too expensive and that any stock that was priced at $1.00 was going out of business.

I'll just continue to buy shit that is underpriced and sell it at a profit....wash, rinse, repeat.

Not exciting....one could even say a little boring.....but that's the way I roll.

Actually, that's insulting to retards

Damn that guy is stoopid....first he says he went to 100% cash on Monday, then he says he took a little off the table....which is it you jerk.....UGH!!!!  Curse you CNBC!!!

They are using C#? You must be kidding. For a lean mean smoking app you should just use C. C++ will get you way more coders but ... SQL server on windose. Those guys are doomed.

Apparently the Goldman Sachs code got out into the wild. Market manipulation here we come. GS is going down!

I have heard reports that this thing is only really reliable on the "World of Warcraft Gold Bot" setting. Buy this program and you will have that new mount in no time. This is going to push an entire industry of Chinese workers into the streets. How is that for manipulation?

This is actually a good thing.

If at least one million retail accounts run trading bots like this, they can become a massive market force. Having a million bots place buy/sell orders every second -- even if it’s a small size like 200-300 shares -- is going to be crazy and interesting to watch. (if they trade every second, thats 12B shares per min LOL)

I wonder how many people have grid bot like things already.  If any of you are familiar with DDOS attacks or massive spam email sent by a botnet, you can imagine all kinds of buy and sell orders coming from all over the globe, adding up to no small effect, perhaps some of them from stolen credit card numbers on russian mp3 download sites that sell you a song for a dime.  I'm not sayin... but I'm just sayin.

No problem, until the sell orders seriously outweigh the buys.  Then you have the makings of every crash ever seen.  Only a matter of when, IMHO.

P.S.  the bots didn't fare so well in the last few crashes.  By the time it's time to sell, it's too late.  You have to be ahead of the game.  Lack of liquidity kills, and will kill again, until we swallow the pills of fiscal responsibility.  Hasn't happened since Volker, and there's no hope in sight with the current admin.  Reality will set in around DOW 5000, I just hope it happens before the 2010 elections.
