Lot's on non confirmations in the markets today. Gold muted as well. Looks like it's time to roll out their latest and greatest thermonuclear bomb.

Gold is not "muted". Gold is being "manipulated" by the bullion banks, basically two: Goldman & JP Morgan. The latest Bank Participation Report and COT Reports show that they are shorting against all longs.

While the U.S. Goobermint/Federal Reserve is destroying the currency, they are attempting to BURN THE LIFEBOATS!

LoneStarHog,

If you followed my comments on ZH over the months you will be aware that I fully agree with you that Gold is manipulated. I was simply trying to show non confirmation of many sectors.

If Gold wasn't manipulated I believe it would be over $2000 today based upon the near death experience the world went through and the revolving currency devaluations the world is engaged in, to name just two reasons.

Rising commodity prices are a direct tax on consumer spending, that and the fact that equities have priced in $75 operating earnings for next year, means the silly dollar/equity correlation can't go on forever.

The central bank generated inflation is the "tax" ... rising commodity prices are the result.

No, you're not the only one. I said the same thing to my broker just 15 minutes ago.

The economic, financial, geopolitical and military strains worldwide are unprecedented in my near 60-year lifetime. Compound that with the power, complexity and potential vulnerability of technology. It's a very volatile mix.

He's an academic, he's used to walking to work. He's just trying to impose the Bernanke diet on the US - walking from the suburbs to the cities to work will do wonders for America's overweight condition. Also, now that everyone will have to walk a few hours each way, those with jobs will not be able to work the full 8 hours, so that the remaining 20% of the population can be hired to fill in. So yes, the way he sees it, 10 dollar gas can do wonders!

Totally sick environment. Regarding gold, my 2 cents are that the proof of eating is in the pudding. we are 2 months away from the December expiration and they can pull all the stunts they will, but it will come down to the final 1-2 weeks. If there is heavy volume we get a repeat of September, ie cash settle as reported by Kirby, with a fat premium. Let them manipulate it lower, it will only multiply the pain later.

I actually hope it collapses and the whole country falls into chaos. It's the only way these bastards (congress) will wake up. Let the dollar go to 40, the entire system will collapse under capital outflows and we can take to the streets with pitchforks and shotguns.

F!@# it.

Look for a war to start very soon to redirect everyone's attention away from the dollar. The U.S. and Israel began a massive joint military exercise today known as Juniper Cobra.

Oddly, the Juniper is a desert plant often used for shelter. Somehow, I think the military exercise will provide shelter in the form of incendiary shells raining down.

From Press TV: The latest salvo in the foreign-money upstart revolt. Latin America plans USD replacement.

Of interest to me in this is that it is to be in 'non-paper form' (any guesses as to what that might be?) and it is spearheaded by Venezuela.

http://www.presstv.com/detail.aspx?id=108916&sectionid=351020706

Sat, 17 Oct 2009 16:13:51 GMT

Leftist Latin American leaders have agreed on using a new intra- regional trading currency, dubbed as Sucre, instead of the US dollar.

Bolivian President Evo Morales, who hosted leaders of the Bolivarian Alternative for Latin America and the Caribbean (ALBA), said that the “document is approved.”

During the seventh ALBA summit, the leaders agreed on the currency reform as well as approving plans to impose economic sanctions against the coup leaders in Honduras, AFP reported.

The currency, Sucre, is named after Jose Antonio de Sucre who fought for Spain's independence alongside Venezuelan hero Simon Bolivar in the early 19th century.

Sucre is scheduled to be rolled out in 2010 in a non-paper form.

The nine members of ALBA, conceived by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, are Cuba, Dominica, Venezuela, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Saint Vincent and Antigua, Bolivia and Barbuda.

The bloc also agreed to replace the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes, which is in charge of arbitrating international disputes and has probed a large number of contract disputes between Western energy firms and members of ALBA.

ALBA, which has already lost many of its members, including Ecuador, is echoing the moves of the European Union and its introduction of euro."

"Sucre is scheduled to be rolled out in 2010 in a non-paper form."

Does this mean the currency will be gold and silver, or base metals?  Or electronic digits like 90% of USDs?
