1 minute 23 seconds into the clip below a solitary Egyptian protester stands up to a riot police water cannon in an attempted recreation of the Tiananmen Square tank hold up... And gets blasted squarely in the face. Cause that's how Egypt rolls. Plus, whatever happens in Egypt stays in Egypt right? In other news, the first casualty has been reported, after reports from Khaled Said claim Egyptian police in Suez opened fire live ammunition killing Mustafa Reda Mahmoud Abdelfattah, 20 years old.

"Atlas" in Ayn Rand's book refers to the productive, hardworking, talented people who form the backbone of capitalism, and especially to the genuises who advance us scientifically and technologically.
It most definitely does NOT refer to mostly-unemployed people protesting in an economically irrelevant country.
That wasn't a metaphor it was an allusion to a novel which predicts societal breakdown. Seems apt to me.

Somehow I have a real hard time empathizing with people in the streets if the only thing they are yelling is "allahu akbar."
