EPA Stopping Daily Monitoring of Radioactivity ... When We Need It More Than Ever

George Washington's picture

EPA writes today:

Due to the consistent decrease in radiation levels across the country associated with the Japanese nuclear incident, EPA will update the daily data summary page only when new data are posted.

***

After a thorough data review showing declining radiation levels related to the Japanese nuclear incident, EPA has returned to the routine RadNet sampling and analysis process for precipitation, drinking water and milk.

In fact, radiation levels are not decreasing, and top independent scientists are calling for increased monitoring.

Indeed, Marco Kaltofen - a well-known environmental engineer - stresses that more monitoring has to be done so that we can assess the risks, and take appropriate action:

Where is all that Fukushima radiation going, and why does it matter? from Fairewinds Associates on Vimeo.

Heck of a job, guys.

keep hangin' in there GW.  "Eventually you'll win one battle and become victorious!"  love Faerwinds of course--Arnie (and wife!) are awesome and glad to see it posted.  I think "the terror comes from the sea" after looking at the video feed from the folks at the University of Hawaii and knowing that "junk tends to raft together in the ocean" and I can very easily see a "floating radioactive pile" heading to Cali.

The BLS should cut back on monitoring the economy, also.  After all, the economy has recovered.

The only 'consistent decrease' is the credibility this agency has. Great post Zero Gov and there are a host of other incidents where their assurances of safety were the signal to duck and cover.  One big one; giving the 'All Clear' at Ground Zero just two days after the two asbestos-laden structures collapsed, engulfing the city in a plume of dust that coated people and property alike and remained for months, if not years. epa should just change its name to the
environmental perception agency or the
environmental perception management group.
on 9/11/2001 they told everyone the same thing,
no problem, go out and shop. shopping is the solution
to all environmental problems in america, don't
cha know.

Not really.  Fallout patterns are highly localized due to weather, so you need widespread monitoring, not a few units here and there.  And the biggest concern here in the US is persistent low levels of fallout getting into the food chain and causing damage to people who injest it, turning what may have been low-danger external emitters into much more dangerous internal emitters.  Supposedly, monitoring the food supply would be the ideal job for a government agency.  Of course, it could also be really bad for business.  But I believe it would be the job of FDA, not EPA.

If you want to understand the difference in danger between external emitters of radiation and internal emitters then think of cigarette smoke; you can hold a cigarette and have no concerns of radiation exposure.  You can smoke a cigarette now and then and slightly increase your risk, but still it is of little concern.  But if you develop a habit of smoking cigarettes then you are constantly increasing your risk of lung cancer due in part to the radioactive particles in the smoke that can stick in your lungs and irradiate the cells around them.

Now imagine that cigarette smoke is the food you eat and the liquids you drink.  But the radioactive particles from Fukushima are much more dangerous in relation to the ones in cigarette smoke.

The U.S. is going to release a radioactive cloud over it's own people and blame it on Nippon and bin Laden's terrorists.   In actuality it will be population reduction at the behest of Obama's handlers at NWO HQ.  Get your geiger counters calibrated.  Coming to a U.S. city near you.

the EPA is a little more than a sham front for extremist human retards

..set up in the 1950's on the hysterical bullshit to ban pesticide DDT spraying a ban that has been 100% directly responsible for 60-100,000,000 preventable deaths worldwide from Maleria since banning this harmless and beneficial agent which was eradicating Maleria in the 3rd World (ie. the EPA are an integral agent of a human genocide that killed more than either Mao, Stalin and Hitler)

..found by a US Judge to be peddling a pack of lies and junk science in their decades of non-stop lying against tobacco and smokers

..telling regional foresters what they can and can't forest from a central Sovietic desk in Washington thinking delusionally like all Govt dipshits they know better than local communities how to manage their enviroment

..and of course the biggest scientific fraud of all, the junk science and Govt funded crony scientists peddling garbage about climate change. The EPA now rates the worlds greatest airbourne fertilize, natures finest growth and greening agent for all Earths ecology a "pollutent" and have declared "War" against it. This Dept is a sociopath now effectively at war with all life on the planet

So what would the twisted human scum at the EPA know about science and radiation, they've got it wrong on every science issue since their tragic corrupt murderous birth

Everything Govt touches turns to crap ...the EPA redefines the word 'crap' ..it's time to shut the fukers down

when you wake up and smell reality you'll realise Govt is a man-made fabrication and like all monopoly structures only serves itself. It is also as fragile as any other institution (Egyptian Govt, Libyan Govt etc). Like the most successful political party in Europe for the past 45 years, Fianna Fail, it can be gone in an instant of public anger

all it takes to ruin Club Parasites continued tapeworm-in-society existence is 'snip' ...stop paying taxes

Keep believing Bush is your leader, Obama knows what's best for the country, Barney Frank should take on the US rental sector after vandalising its property sector and Chris Dodd knows how to re-organise the entire banking industry

Suck up your sugary 'democracy' drip feed and keep believing in democratic Govt... if 3 wars, public sector debt and everything politicians touch turning to shit in front of your very eyes hasn't destroyed your illusions in this parasitical institution don't you worry, the next 3-4 years of constant reality-checks will rob you of all your remaining delusion

There is no doubt that a lot of corporatist and statist clowns have leveraged ecological concerns to promote their schemes.  In the process they have co-opted scientists and sullied science.  We have legitimate problems, but they get drowned out by these clowns and their scams.

Oh - that's right, you're just here to get folks to sell/short Ag...

Well - the paper price sure is falling, but it isn't affecting the price of physical any.  This is going to be the mother of all dips to buy physical for those who don't realize what's happening.  Time to visit all the local pawn shops and dealers.

Regarding Fukashima - Chernobyl isn't "over" yet you clown.

Anyone been geigering in Alaska recently by the way? The models I have seen all show fairly high Caesium 137 clouds have been passing over there this last month or so?
