Tyler Durden's picture

The dollar just got the advance Thanksgiving woodshed treatment. In other news, just $12 to go to $1,200/oz.

I believe deeply that it's very important for the U.S. and the economic health of the U.S. that we maintain a strong dollar. We bear special responsibility for trying to make sure that we are implementing policy in the U.S. that will sustain confidence not just among American investors and savers but investors around the world that the U.S. will fix its budgetary problems as its economy improves." - Tim Geithner

I put Geithner's quote up here again just to echo the fact that the Treasury Secretary of the United States of America is a liar.

Just for the record, it isn't just Geitner. It is the entire culture. America is intellectually dishonest, politically irresponable and morally bankrupt.

From any objective point of view, we are very, very close to the end of the line in this country.

I hope you don't really think Les Claypool cares about the price of gold (or anything else for that matter).

I don't mean to be overly pessimistic, but take a good look around you. We have the ultimate living arrangement with no future. From our economic and foreign policies to the 40 mile daily commute, do you see ANYTHING in this country that is sustainable?

Just about every aspect of daily life in this country is going to change in the near future.

I think that would depend on who Les has managing his affairs. He is an artist and performer.

We on the other hand are not.  Just wondered about your post name.

I agree we are on a totally unsustainable path both financially and socially. And we have been for at least 3 decasdes.  Most of the people I know think everything is going to be ok, the "status quo" will be maintained and that I am a crank with too much time on my hands to surf the net.

Nope not a crank and don't have much spare time either.

How does the saying go, "You can never be more certain of something than when it has been officially denied."

Altering that saying using the underlying logic and applying it to Timmy's quote we get, "You can never be more doubtful of something than when it has been officially confirmed."

This has nothing to do with the US Dollar. It has all to do with US's expanding economy in China. US Corporations have closed shop in the US and reopened them in Asia. A weak dollar policy is aimed to grow China's industrial footprint and demolish competition everywhere else. This explains why Obama pleaded to the China's government to encourage domestic consumption.

I love how they try to take down the dollar when they think no one is watching. Half the office are empty due to the holiday and most won't even look at a computer screen til' Monday. I must say though, I am really enjoying the collapse of the dollar because I bought a great seat on the oil, gold, and silver bus in February of 2009. So let the f!@#er crash. They question now is this: do I curb my greed and sell out now or wait for the DX to hit 71 or lower.

This time it might pay to be greedy a little while longer....
