An unimpressive piece of work by an anonymous poster often referencing his own anonymous blog and giveing us pointer to a variety of opinion pieces. The Evan Wallach piece was not even fitting of someone who claims to be a judge. First, the Texas sheriff was not convicted of waterboarding or torture. He was convicted of a violation of civil rights. There was not even a federal anti torture statute under which he could have been convicted until 10 years later. Second, the Japanese water torture was not waterboarding, but rather filling them stomach with water and then compressing it. Wallach, and by extension, the anonymous George Washington, hopes you will not actually verify all this.
We also get the opinion of Eric Holder and Obama, both of whom cannot even identify blacks who violate the vting rights laws and can condemn Arizona law without actually reading the law. What the anonymous Gerorge Washington gives us is a series of mostly unsubstantiated and misleading references he hope will convince us based on sheer volume, Meh.
So I'm not the only reader familiar with the actual technique employed by the Japanese during the Second World War... thank God!
Giving G.W. the benefit of the doubt... chances are he is truly ignorant vs. deliberately misleading.
As I posted moments earlier, the moment I hit the "Japanese Waterboarding" segment of G.W.'s post I quit reading.

I did click through and check several of the references. I checked the Wallach piece and found errors that I documented in my reply (Japanese definition of water torture and the 1983 conviction of the sherrif). I also noted I do not consider either Obama or Holder to be experts on anything and gave you counter examples. I checked other of your references and found them to be unsubstantiated accusation (Major General Antonio Taguba) and the "Torture of Children" piece.
I followed enough links to determine this was left wing, "make it up and hope it sticks" crap. The fact you claim to be an adjunct professor is not a feather in your cap, but rather reinforces my opinion of your post. To claim you are "post-partisan" is cause for pointing and laughing at your big floppy shoes, big red nose, and orange wig. Providing links to crap documents does not move your post beyond crap. Torture means different things to different people. To me, living with my ex was torture. More to the point, interrogation techniques should be based on what works and 'enhanced" techniques should be reserved for the toughest cases. Whether these techniques constitute "torture" is irrelevant. The infliction of pain, humiliation or emotional harm should not be condoned unless it has proven to be effective and there are no other lesser means available.
So then you think it is ok for the US Army to invade another country and occupy it and then torture men whose only crime is that they want us to get the hell out of their prospective countries and leave them the hell alone?
