Evil Empire 2? Republicans' Secret Plan To Capitalize On Fear Of US Conversion To Socialism

Tyler Durden's picture

A previously secret Republican presentation obtained by Politico indicates that the Republicans intend on capitalizing from their current predicament in which they "do not have the White House, the House or the Senate" by pursuing a pitch of "saving the country from trending toward socialism." At least communism is so 1950s. We wonder just how far the political mudslinging campaigns will reach in the coming months as we head into mid-term elections, which are not looking good for Obama, courtesy of an economy in shambles which appears good only on Beige paper (when it is not snowing). Of course, any additional forays into "socialism" as defined by the RNC will likely be capitalized upon to build a stronger electorate as the Obama administration is now caught in the stranglehold of having loudly proposed the Volcker rule, but now seems very much powerless when it comes to enforcing it (Greece?).

More from Politico:

The presentation was delivered by RNC Finance Director Rob Bickhart to top donors and fundraisers at a party retreat in Boca Grande, Florida on February 18, a source at the gathering said.

In neat PowerPoint pages, it lifts the curtain on the often-cynical terms of political marketing, displaying an air of disdain for the party’s donors that is usually confined to the barroom conversations of political operatives.

As to the source of the document.

The 72-page document was provided to POLITICO by a Democrat, who said a
hard copy had been left in the hotel hosting the $2,500-a-head retreat,
the Gasparilla Inn & Club. Sources at the event said the
presentation was delivered by Bickhart and by the RNC Finance Chairman,
Peter Terpeluk, a former ambassador to Luxembourg under President
George W. Bush.

And this pearl:

One page, headed “The Evil Empire,” pictures Obama as the Joker from Batman, while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leaders Harry Reid are depicted as Cruella DeVille and Scooby Doo, respectively.

As expected, and roughly in line with this country's deplorable financial collapse, politics in America has now succumbed to new and unexpected farcical lows. It will be amazing if an independent party is unable to generate sufficient popular interest to finally challenge the bipolar system, after the destruction following both republican and democrat rule.

You're kidding right? Obama just signed the (un)Pat-riot Act. He's escalated the war and his proposed Obamacare destroys family medical decisions and makes criminals of citizens who don't buy insurance, he's chipping away at probable cause and search and seizure, on "it" (Obama and his czar) marches into ....

...the process referred to as judicial exclusion which is a linchpin of the unitary executive that governs through national security executive orders rendering the other branches of government moot. This process has been brutally used by both political parties to cause great harm to our constitution and bill of rights.

"Didn't the ivy league teach you that business and politics don't mix?"

Like hell - all business today is either trying to gain advantage through politics, or trying to ride the coat-tails of one or another political faction who is doing that dirty work for you.

People are waking up to what has happened in our country. Most of the economic ruin has occured as a direct result of the GOP. They are decietful and fear mongerers.

Voters aren't always that bright.  Deceitfulness and fear-mongering can get you far in US politics.  There are few members of Con-gress who have not used one if not both of those tactics.

Stupid mutts. Why does stating an objective fact about one party require that the opposing party be pure as snow? Objective statements about Bush's Republican Party trampling civil liberties, over spending, lying, etc. where accurate and required no qualifying or conciliatory statements about the Dems. Nor does stating that the current Democrat party is a Marxist political party implementing a socialist agenda as fast as possible under our current political system require any statement about the Republicans strengths or weaknesses. Most who write and comment on this blog have strong statements about all things – interesting. Are any prepared to physically put their ass on the line and stand against the current regime (yes, both parties are part of the current regime boys and girls – shocking, no?) to defend their principles and fundamental rights? From what I’ve read here over the past year, I don’t think so. Man up or shut up mutts. It is clear that most here will take whatever the regime spits down line as long as they cam make money or sound smart. But will any of you fight and risk anything beyond a few objectively worthless electronic blips called currency for you rights? F@#k no! Keep bitch’in boys and girls, as the then current rulers lead you wherever they wish. Follow the rules good boys and girls. You were trained well. Remember Tiananmen Square? Which of you would be the ones standing in front of the tank to defend something more. You do all that you do for electronic ones and zeros. Amazing.

The RNC is pathetic. Digging up year old internet cartoons is the best they could do. They're like the chubby PC guy in the Apple ads. Are you sure those are Powerpoint slides and not transparencies on an overhead projector?

That said, if this health care bill passes it's game over and if Regan were cloned and elected in 2012 there wouldn't be a damn thing he could do about it. Rationing and unelected government goons deciding who gets what care and for how much. Mamograms for women under 50 are first on the chopping block and then whatever else it takes to save enough money to give free health insurance to whoever walks over the border. Presto! It pays for itself!

Socialism/Shmocialism Tyler...it a'int right.

I do not see one commentor on this subject talking about the root of the problem of government. The U.S. Supreme Court!

There is no check or balance on their sorry asses and everybody gives them a free ride, why? What is so sacred about the ossified, black robed kkk'ers, sorry ass decisions of the gang of five that just enhanced fascism in this country by their decision to take the caps off of corporate campaign spending.

When is this country going to wake up and go after the system enablers who perpetuate this fraud on the American people? Corporations are persons?  This decision in 1886 was a fraud and everybody knows it. The ruling class has used this for over a century and now it is coming to a head with the latest travesty by Scalia and his scalawags. Until we rein in these bastards this country will never be free!

The only SCT member who isn't automatically disqualified from the KKK by his race or religion is John Paul Stevens.  And if you know a thing about his record, you know he couldn't be farther from the KKK.  And yes, the other 8 justices, Catholics and Jews of various races and ethnicities, are certainly lining up to join the KKK as well. (Not.)

What a load of BS.  The SCT serves as a check on the other two branches, not an independent source of problems.  Sometimes it's a better check than other times, but your focus is 180 degrees from where it should be.

The ruling isn't that corporations are people, they can't vote. It's that free speech is free speech is free speech.

However big and evil corporations are they'll never have the big & evil potential that self-aggrandizing government and it's employees will have. Corporations are at least dependent on and at the mercy of people buying their stuff. Don't like the corporation, don't buy their stuff. Most of the government on the other hand, esp. the Federal government is not accountable in any way to the citizenry. Do you think "the people" can vote away The Dept. of Energy, The Dept. of Education, Nancy Pelosi's pimped-out jet or the all-powerful Health Care Czar once Obama's bill passes?

Baaaaahhaaaaa haaaa!

Socialism?  (It's fascism, folks.  Get right with your "isms".)

Converted?  (We've been there for quite some time - pretty much my entire adult life if not longer, it seems.)

So way to go, GOP.  Like time and tide - never missing an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

You can quibble over whether it's socialism or fascism, but they are merely flavors of the same totalitarian Statism that has brought misery, horror and death to many millions of people over the past century.

Let's not allow Orwell's "1984" to become prophecy.
