"The Financial Industry Has Become So Politically Powerful That It Is Able To Inhibit the Normal Process of Justice And Law Enforcement"

George Washington's picture

In his acceptance speech for winner for best documentary at the Oscars, director Craig Ferguson said:

Three
years after our horrific financial crisis caused by financial fraud,
not a single financial executive has gone to jail, and that’s wrong.

But none of the mainstream, corporate networks covered it. Not CBS, ABC, NBC or MSNBC.

Ferguson told Reuters:

“The
biggest surprise to me personally and biggest disappointment was that
nobody in the Obama administration would speak with me even off the
record — including people that I’ve known for many, many years,”
Ferguson said backstage.

He believes Americans, who lost homes and
jobs in the millions because of shady mortgage lending and bank
collapses, are disappointed that “nothing has been done.”

“Unfortunately, I think that the reason is predominantly that the
financial industry has become so politically powerful that it is able
to inhibit the normal process of justice and law enforcement
,” said Ferguson.

For background on the subversion of justice to the powers that be, see this.

Indeed, as I have repeatedly pointed out, fraud is one of the main causes of the financial crisis. See this and this.

Even Bernie Madoff tells New York Magazine:

“I
realized from a very early stage that the market is a whole rigged
job. There’s no chance that investors have in this market.”

***

“The
SEC,” he says, “looks terrible in this thing.” And he doesn’t see
himself as the only guilty party on Wall Street. “It’s unbelievable,
Goldman … no one has any criminal convictions. The whole new regulatory
reform is a joke. The whole government is a Ponzi scheme.”

The economy cannot stabilize unless fraud is prosecuted. But the folks in D.C. seem determined to turn a blind eye to Wall Street shenanigans, and is now moving to defund the enforcement agencies like the SEC and CFTC.

And
yet the large corporate media never covers this issue. An October 2009
Pew Research Center study on the coverage of the financial crisis found that the media has largely parroted what the White House and Wall Street were saying. (The mainstream media is also pro-war.)

In
fact, the financial industry has become so politically powerful that it
is able to inhibit the normal process of justice and law enforcement, and the American press.

.300 win-mag,  INSTANT JUSTICE

Judicial Exclusion is just another way of saying anarchy George.  There can be no rule (for long) without the rule of law.  The United States (under both political parties) has abandoned the concept of justice, choosing perversion of the rule of law to meet the needs of lawful plunder.

Nobody went to jail? Solid evidence the banking sector is too regulated. If it was unregulated, nobody would have gone to jail.

It's self regulating.  Everyone knows that always works when money is involved....

There is way to organize and hold the banksters accountable. The grass roots efforts already taking hold.

At www.WallStreetClassAction.com we organize a class action against the banks, the ratings agencies and other financial institutions involved in staging the colossal securitization fraud and subsequently crashing the economy and resulting in over $5 Trillion in asset losses in the US alone. Wall Street monopolistic monstrosities have destroyed the fabric of our society and broke our laws, making a mockery of fiscal prudence, ethics and justice. Even our very government is controlled and manipulated by this highly illegal banctel, where bank executive officers "retire" or transition into various government regulatory and controllership positions, futher aiding and abetting the ongoing fraud. And when the overleverages casino style betting and back-hedging finally tipples over and out of control, the losses are effectively socialized, while the injured parties are thrown out on the street. This is way worse of a "socialism" than a most convoluded and abused government wellfare program would be. It's an unsult to injury, and uninhibited and open contempt for our laws. It is clear as day that the government will not prosecute the crooks, but we the people will. United we stand.

as long as the masses are content with an iPhone, LED Teevee and "this just in" from CNN or Fox, the PTB have little to be concerned about; what's more, much of the generation that is following has the literacy skills of an elementry school dropout. Just visit Google Trends to see what America is thinking about

Bernie is safe in jail. A roof over his head, a bed at night, 3 squares, free healthcare, CableTV, a well-stocked library, chores during the day, (nothing too strenuous for a man his age) a stroll in the fresh air and all the notoriety a man can stand. He can watch the decapitation of America from a safe distance and will probably go free when they shut down prisons for non-violent offenders in a few years to save money.

So, just what is the current market price for these dips?

I hope those guys in Washington are cringing in their silk socks, drinking their cocktails,  at hearing the guy who received his Oscar for "Insider Job" say what he said. It's the direst soft diatribe against the powers that be. Scalding for the political/legal oligarchy. We saw it in Dallas, we saw it in "the hanging chad", we see it with the WS caper...brave new world.

The US government in 33 seconds

http://www.realecontv.com/videos/government-corruption/priorities.html

You can make a reasonably accurate prediction of the future of an individual or organization by what its priorities are. And you can tell someone's true priorities by seeing how they spend their time, money, and energy.

Based on this simple formula, the US is in serious need of a major adjustment of its priorities.

The US spent $8 million investigating this staggering financial catastrophe which has cost the US about $8 trillion dollars (and climbing) but FIVE TIMES AS MUCH on the details of Bubba's Oval Office sexcapades.

Note to self: If ever given a choice between getting a blow job in the Oval Office and stealing trillions of dollars, choose the latter.

Apparently, there's no penalty to pay and eight trillion dollars will buy a lot of...you get the idea.

Speaking of which, for those who want to go further down the rabbit hole (so to speak) as well as for the generally prurient...here's where a good chunk of the Wall Street bonus money (as supplied by you) went:

They can't be prosecuted.  Look at Ken Lewis, the least connected of the TBTF.  Looked like they were going to drag him in and he threatened to drop the bomb.  Everyone is dirty and has dirt on each other.  So if one guy goes down he can start dragging others with him and set off a chain reaction.  It's like the mob.  Can't get up there if not dirty.

The government and the TBTF have dirt on each other and an effort to bring down the TBTF would trigger a bomb bringing down the government.  There can't be prosecutions.  Can you imagine what skeletons Blankfein, Paulson, or Dimon know about?  It's in the govs best interest to ignore it because it's a M.A.D. situation.

This doesn't end till corruption collapses the whole edifice, clearing out the corruption is simply not going ot happen.  It's a core element of the system, and cannot be removed without taking down the system.  Naturally those in the system who benefit from it have no interest in such an action.

Take a look at Florida.

A constitutional amendment is being floated that would appear to me to eliminate the separation of powers.

$nip

Amendment would give Legislature rules oversight

A constitutional amendment that would take court procedural rulemaking authority away from the Supreme Court and give it to the Legislature has been introduced in a House subcommittee that has been studying the issue.

$nip

We're not in Kansas anymore folks...

Amendment would give Legislature rules oversight

"Corporate Looting" works for me. Whatever they are doing we'll be in Tallahassee to object March 9th. I think the only reason the Internet hasn't been shut down is to keep us grousing on our keyboards instead of taking action (peacefully, respectfully, but firmly). I've been lurking for some time so I don't want to get kicked off for "blog-pimping". If your in FL and are interested send me a private msg. We (volunteers one and all) have busses lined up that will be running up both coasts. Florida and it's unconstitutional "Rocket Docket" will be the flashpoint. Edit - can you even do a private message on ZH. Don't flame the newbie...I even watched "Fight Club" because of ZH...and watching TV gives me a rash.
