C'mon, we all know that it's true.
I often lash out bitterly and angrily, while commenting on how the criminals have taken over the institutions of our government, and this true. But I should always add the caveat "because we let them."
Some will argue that it was predetermined that the criminals would have taken over, and they would have cited the creation of the 3rd central private bank of the United States, the non-Federal Reserve, in 1910 (legally recognized in 1913) as a prime example.
This is a good rebuttal. But we've had a long time and the words and warnings of many knowledgeable people with integrity to reflect upon this type of malfeasance, yet we've done nothing about it, collectively.
I see Amerika, once known as America, definitely continuing down that rich man-poor man path that all Empires ultimately seem inclined to take.
The road less traveled would mean a lot more short term pain, sacrifice and stress, but it would possibly restore some integrity to the system and refocus our children on the good, productive and truly useful side of capitalism and free markets - but it would mean a bitter, bloody fight that I just don't think many Americans are up to the task for.
On top of all of this, any such revival would require a true leader to shake Americans from their slumber and motivate them and remind them of what we are letting slip through our grasp, and who and where is this person?
Where? Who?
Could the road less traveled occur instead in the form of a shadow economy full of American individuals who choose to opt out of a dying system?
Awaken them?!?!? Its a lot harder to rob them if they are made wise to the game.
