I watched on television, but I hardly think being in the buildings at the time would have provided a better perspective regarding who may have been responsible. To the contrary, I get the impression that the people closest to the entire affair were the most easily brainwashed about how it was done, and who did it. I have talked to many supposedly educated people who are so amazingly ignorant of the facts of 9/11 that discussions often devolve into a stark refusal to accept the facts, as if they are optional or a matter of opinion.
For example: building 7 fell at free-fall speed with a classic controlled-demolition crimp, was not hit by a plane, and experienced only minor fires. It was a very robust building, and housed the city's emergency response center. Oh, and it also contained all the FBI files on criminal activity on Wall Street and in the financial markets. No even remotely plausible engineering explanation has been advanced, and even the NIST studies of WTC1 & 2 completely ignored WTC7. The term is called smoking gun. It cannot be explained away by any mechanism other than controlled demolition, and I seriously doubt OBL could have rigged that building to do the controlled demo. But I am aware of the kinds of groups who could pull-off 9/11, it's just that they don't live in caves in Afghanistan.
