Update: Semi-automatic gunfire now heard in Alexandria.

For Egypt, it is now or never. With millions out on the streets in Cairo and other cities, the Egyptian population will likely not have another chance at such a massive showing of popular expression of anger against President Mubarak. Well, its interesting, the Ceausescus were hunted down and shot like dogs, and so on, but Mubarak must still choose--today--between spurring thousands of deaths and simply moving on.  He could give a rousing speech, thanking the masses for the wake up call, hoping for continuance of peace with neighboring states and so on...I mean, history happens in real time.  Anything is possible.

You'd kind of expect that the governors would make a couple of phone calls and bring all of their own guard back home where they're needed to clean up the mess created by Xe and the regular military.

Or maybe we've all forgotten who the National Guard are working for. I'm pretty sure the Guard hasn't. I don't think they're going to more duty in any state but their own. Assuming they're ever allowed to return to the country and what's left of their lives.

There are some seriously pissed off people in the guard, and I don't think they'd take kindly to being hijacked from their real lives again to go off and kill other Americans, no matter how ALIEN.

Our National Guard are real people who have left real careers to fulfill a legal oblication. It's irrelevant how fucking clever D.C. Machiavelli and company might think they are in assuming they can turn us against each other using the Guard.

Ain't gonna happen. These aren't Xe robots, these are actual people with actual jobs and actual lives and actual families. Just because they really hate Dolphins fans, I'm pretty sure the Seahawks loving Washington State National Guard isn't going to open fire in Miami just because the major told them to.

This company appears to come out of nowhere.”

Trying to keep track of Blackwater’s many affiliates seems to be a task made deliberately difficult, as the name International Development Solutions contains a combination of common words, which makes forming effective search terms tough.

Of course not. Police are trained to fire on citizens, and get ongoing practice doing it.

That about sums it up.  If you want to understand anything about this and how it might play out, you have to start from your post. 

The IMF and Obummer the Cia and Mossad are now all batting for the home team.  All options are on the table.  Let's see if it's enough.

Arabs were ready to make peace on the '67 borders.  The Israelis should have taken that.  Peace is in everyone's interest.

My sympathies are with the freedom seeking Egyptian people, not the dark forces trying to deny them.

And, hello?, when was the last time an unscheduled, nationally televised presidential speech started at 11pm local time, perhaps delayed in this instance by barry's people, so as to, you guessed it, avoid shock to the just-closed u.s. oil and financial markets ?  Just wondering...and looking forward to tomorrow openings and the rest of this week's action as indications of revised perceptions of oil and other price futures.

If it was announced last-minute that Mr. OB was about to address the nation after working hours, I would be thinking "Cuban missile crisis", when JFK got on the tube, un-scheduled, at 7pm est, 10-22-62, to fill us in on a possible Russian nuclear issue 90 miles from Miami. Yes, I am so old as to remember hearing that on my car radio while driving to a Tahoe ski destination.

Blowback sure is a bitch, isn't it?  This is another refutation of ham-handed American foreign policy throughout the cold war that has continued right up to the '08 economic collapse.  Look at South America and the rise of Morales, Chavez and others in a wholly appropriate reaction to American corporate raiders trying to sieze their natural resources.  No different in the Middle East.  All our smack talk about democracy and freedom is made transparent in Obama's highly qualified support of the Egyptian people.

All this talk of a need for "calm" and "orderly" transition is to give CIA and Mossad operatives a chance to get enough agent provocateurs in place to give the peaceful demonstrators a bad rap, giving the Mubarak regime all they need to crush the uprising, probably with American help, certainly with American-made weapons.  He has tried to destabilize the situation already with his own thugs.

The people have the power.  They always have.  This is terrifying to those vested in the status quo.  I relish their fear.  Like the people of Iceland and hopefully Ireland - Tell the bankers to pound sand.  Their doomsday predictions if they aren't repayed and made whole on the backs of regular people is a lie.

Take all the hot money being poured into the system now by central banks trying to stimulate their economies.  It has fueled a massive speculative bubble in commodities that is literally starving people all over the world.  The naked greed of the already wealthy is taking food out of the hands of the poorest.  That is the sick, deranged nature of the Anglo banking cabal.  Their time is over.  Hunger has driven many in the Middle East into the streets.  This is one of the most unreported aspects of this regional, if not global, uprising.

The Fourth Turning is at hand and this is just the beginning. American Exceptionalism meet reality, bitchez.

Don't be taken in by the propaganda.  There is only 250k people involved in this thing in a city of 18,000,000.  There are no 'millions', they are a propaganda creation.  Mubarak will survive the Color Revolution and there will be a normal transition of government in September.  This government system in Egypt is not a Mubarak cult, it is a continuity of the 1954 Gamal Nasser military government system.  Thys system will now have a new leader after old man Mubarak goes out on his own terms after defusing this Washington coup attempt and stab in the back from the CIA.

 

Too bad for everyone who was hoping for a NATO/IMF stooge to take over and loot Egypt and drag it into war.  Soetero's controllers are going to unravel all of America's strategic positions fomenting coups against allies like this.  It is a terrible policy of treachery, but then again treachery is the defining feature of Barry Soetero.

 

Do not assume that the only purpose of the Egyptian Army is to gun people down in the streets.  The military is supporting the regime in themost intelligent way possible.  The method of resisting these post-modern coups is to just stand firm against them and they burn themselves out.  Mubarak is not Kuchma, he will not be beaten psychologically by CIA/State Department tricks and the Muslim Brotherhood MI6 agents.

 

No mass killing is needed to stop such a small disturbance in a country of 80 million people.  The military is letting people stand around peacefully and chant whatever slogans they want.  This is not a defeat of the regime, it is political Judo.  The military will just keep general law and order and wait out the coup attempt.  In a couple more days it will seem very hollow, and people will wonder what really happened and how did it get so hyped.

 

Remember, the US government has openly admitted that they planned this coup for three years.  It is astro turf Color Revolution garbage repackaged.

This is not Iran, where the Tweetin' Greenies were a totally stage-managed operation with fake images and fake protests against a leader with significant support.  This is a volatile movement to remove a universally hated thug allied with Apartheid Israel.

The VOA, CNN, and NPR were reporting numbers like 'hundred-thousand' as you're providing here.  From a propaganda point of view, reporting low numbers doesn't make any sense unless they're looking to throttle the Movement's momentum.  White Imperialism doesn't control it; they're trying to catch up to this thing in order to corral it.

Do you seriously believe this is 'the plan' - to have Egypt erupt in protests over food prices, which subsequently spread to virtually every ally of White Imperialism in the region (Jordan, Yemen, etc.)?  

Meanwhile, have you read Apartheid Israel's press?  They're (legitimately) concerned, because they know that no matter what happens they're worse off with Mubarak impotent.  Premeditation implies an endgame, and I just don't see one.

While the NED and others are obviously playing a role here, the fact that neither ElBaradei nor the Muslim Brotherhood even participated in yesterday's rallies - which collectively turned out millions of people in multiple cities without the reliable use of 'new media' - suggests a significant chasm between the Movement itself and the White Imperialists you say are running things remotely.  I'm not sure that the immediate ascension to power of either established lackey would satisfy the people.

Uncle Sam is scrambling - that's why Mubarak announced he was staying, and it's why Hillary Clinton & the President both appear to have not slept since the food riots began last week.  That's why the Interior Ministry is destroying museums and why last night they faced off with the protestors yammering about how much they love Hosni.
