Food Stamp Usage Hits New High Of 43.2 Million

Tyler Durden's picture

Ever wonder where all the money for equity inflows came from? Here's the answer: with all the money saved from participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, better known as foodstamps, which in October hit a brand new record, 43.2 million Americans decided to join in on this "wealth effect" they had been hearing so much about and buy Apple stock. After all 190 hedge funds are doing it: and there is no way that 190 hedge funds can possibly be wrong. As a result, the chart below shows our nation's pending wealth effect in its full glory. Just think: 43.2 millionaire in waiting. Just consider the guaranteed explosion to money velocity...

That poor dog's owner should be shot. </hijack>

DonnieD's picture

Apparently the owner was already eaten.

MachoMan's picture

My guess is someone got the "ma'am, you can't buy dog food with food stamps" speech in the checkout lane.

The response is always the same, "I'll just git em' some ground beef instead, he likes it more anyway".

RobD's picture

Actually feeding a dog ground beef would not make it fat like that. What makes dogs fat are all the grains they put in the dry dog food. That dog will die(or already has) of a diabetes related illness.

DonnieD's picture

At least he's good for a couple coats and a rug.

VeloSpade's picture

If its owner ever gets cut off from food stamps, slaughter the dog. Free food for a year.

Don't be foolish, that's a cross between a Husky and Grizzly bear.

RobD has the comment closest to the truth here. . .

pet food used to contain "mechanically reclaimed meats" - but that's now used in human fudstuffs, and the pets get "by-products" - which is anything that isn't classified for human consumption, and given pretty much EVERYthing is "fit for humans" now, all the pets are getting is ground feathers, tumours, and. . . well, you can *imagine*. . . plus major amounts of GMO grain filler (soy & corn mainly), and you've got - voila! pet diabetes!

any vet will tell you that selling pet health insurance helps pay for all those daily injections - and it's growing exponentially, like the pets. . .

My compliments to you for posting the picture and kicking off one of the funniest string of comments I have ever seen on this site.  All of you (above) should be proud of the work you have done today.

And to the one serious comment from RobD, you'll be happy to know I feed my dog grain free dog food...not because I'm worried about her getting fat, but because the regular stuff causes her to shit all over the house.

Cathartes Aura's picture

that's one smart dog, kudos.

I told you to buy Whole Foods a year ago.  You do buy and hold, don't you?

velobabe's picture

homeless just graze whole foods all day here. these hippies can't say a thing, like please don't eat all the samples, they are for our customers. what a fuck sell out that store has become. i always use Benjamin's a couple usually. dumb blond woman hold it way high in the sky to the light. this could be counterfeit, really what is plastic. i let them have it and tell them how insulting this procedure is to me. i just can't stand corporations pass along a procedure of quilt when using large bills. pisses me off to no end. but i put them thtrough hell every time. love it. insult right back. you know what your looking for. hell at staples i got the light test and the pen test.

dark pools of soros's picture

what do you do with the change??  besides pad your ego with it..

Agent P's picture

If she's shopping at Whole Foods, I'm guessing there isn't much change coming back from a hundo.

MachoMan's picture

I remember a presentation by James "the amazing" Randi (former magician turned "critical thinker").  He said he loved to fuck with people who check for counterfeit bills because the tests they used were not accurate and the practitioners had no idea what they were testing.  Case in point, he always washed/sprayed bills with starch.  He'd then go places and pay with the starch bills and the counterfeit pens would show a false positive.  He'd then argue with them about the accuracy of their testing.

I think he got frustrated with that approach and instead went to the bank and started getting thousands of dollars of 50's and 100's and spraying them all with starch and then going back, dumping them on the bank, and letting the bank circulate them through the general currency.

Some other suggestions I've seen would be to also carry a cotton paper bill you made yourself...  you could put ben's money shooting ass on it and tell them to run the pen on it...  what do you know, it passes!

Flush with C-notes?  Sounds like you are back in business again, Kathy.  Congratulations!  Is he someone I might know?

Dr. Porkchop's picture

There are so many places in Canada that won't take $100 or even $50 dollar bills. I shudder when I get one, thinking where can I get rid of this thing? The funny thing is that one of the coffee shops that won't take $100 or $50 has handed me at least two $5 fakes. I still have one as a conversation piece. The other I got rid of in a change machine! So much for the fancy holograms on the bill, this fake didn't even have them.

NotApplicable's picture

Protip: Never admit to passing counterfeit bills in public, especially in writing.

Now, I'll give you a 15 minute head-start before I alert the Mounties. ;-)

Dr. Porkchop's picture

It's a shame, the banks hand out fake money all day long.

Bananamerican's picture

oh they learn....

they just always forget

QQQBall's picture

yeah, I had it when they make me feel all quilty and shit ;)

Pretty soon, they will call the TSA to search you if you be passing C-notes.

always good to hassle the low-level employees who are doing what they're instructed to, in order to stay employed. . . good to hassle them about people eating free samples too, can't have free-loading. . . also good to stereotype blonde women as "dumb" and then hassle them too. . .

always patronise shops you can patronise I say!

Food related ETFs might be a way to play this.

DBA (various foods)

CORN (corn)

There may be other newer ones as well.  Hard to keep up with all the ETFs.

DoChenRollingBearing's picture

Well, yes, especially gold & silver ETFs.

I mention the above two as ways to speculate (on paper of course) on food...

Disclosure: I have some DBA

velobabe's picture

i bought some DBA a while back, when jimmy rogers was a little more prominent. i saw that he started his own ETF.

VeloSpade's picture

Leveraged DAG up around 110% last 9 months.  Free buying power if you know how to trade around the decay...when it happens.

VeloSpade's picture

This isn't some fucking fool.com investment website.  No disclosures are required.  In fact you can totally talk your book without fear of reprise....or not.
