Former Independent Is Independent No More: Blogger John Carney Joins CNBC.com
A match made in media heaven. Well, what else can we say? To quote Amadeus, "when one reads such words, what else can one say but... John Carney and CNBC." Below is propaganda channel #1's official press release. We are amused however, based on the below, that Zero Hedge, with a funding budget of $0, gets 16% of CNBC'S traffic (and growing 15% each month). And we aren't even backed by the most bankrupt non-conservated company in the world in the form of GECC.
JOHN CARNEY JOINS CNBC
Respected financial journalist to begin writing for CNBC.com and appear on the network in coming weeks
ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. – May 12, 2010 – John Carney will be joining
CNBC.com, the online destination for real-time global business news and
expert analysis, as Senior Editor, it was announced today by Allen
Wastler, Managing Editor, CNBC.com. In addition to writing for the
site, Carney will also appear regularly on CNBC’s Business Day
programming.
“John has deep connections on Wall Street and has a unique insight
into its trading community,” said Wastler. “He is well-known within the
financial world and we are delighted to have him on our team.”
“We look forward to welcoming John's reporting savvy, distinctive
voice and take on Wall Street to the network,” said Nikhil Deogun,
Managing Editor, CNBC Business News.
"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of the best team in business journalism,” said Carney.
Carney’s appointment to CNBC.com comes on the heels of a
record-breaking month for the site. In April, CNBC.com scored a record
page view month, with 282 million, making it the #1 stand alone
financial news website by total page views according to the latest data
from comScore Media Metrix.** In addition, the online destination for
global business news and expert analysis was visited by 5.7 million
unique visitors, the most in any April on record.
Previously, Carney was the managing editor of Business Insider’s
financial news and gossip vertical, Clusterstock. Earlier this year,
The Wall Street Journal named Clusterstock as one of the ten best
financial blogs.
Carney began his journalism career at DealBreaker, a Wall Street
blog that covers the personalities and culture that shape the financial
industry. There since launch, he served as editor-in-chief and led the
site to some of its largest numbers ever. Carney was widely lauded for
his hour-by-hour reporting on the collapse of Lehman Brothers in
September 2008 and his in-depth reports on the turmoil inside of
Merrill Lynch in the year leading up to its sale to Bank of America.
Carney has also written for The Wall Street Journal, The New York
Times, The New York Sun, Page Six Magazine, Gawker, TheAtlantic.com,
The Daily Beast, Time Out New York, Fortune and New York magazine.
Before joining Dealbreaker, Carney practiced corporate law at firms
such as Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and Latham &
Watkins, primarily representing banks, hedge funds and private equity
firms. He received his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
Carney graduated Summa Cum Laude from the State University of New York at Binghamton.

CNBC.com, the online destination for real-time global business news and expert analysis
ROFLMAO, too funny.
Wonder what soul swaps and swaptions cost these days?
...a fiddle of gold?
Oooh...the dreaded double post (by me)
And all this time, judging from its content, I assumed that CNBC was actually the destination of the combined sewer lines of North America, as they merged with the equally dank and fetid stream of paroled federal white-collar criminals. An honest mistake.
akak, CNBC is located in new jersey, just a few miles north of the GW bridge; so it really is the destination of all sewer lines.
if you check it out on google maps street view looks like it would be pretty easy heckle these clowns as they get out of their benz's
Jesus fucking Christ; Carney is a waste of carbon, oxygen and degree. The man is a bona fide certified cretin and thus he will fit right in at CNBC. Carney if you are reading this; and I know you do; you should have been an abortion. I cant believe people like Carney are able to work anywhere while some people like Perelman [some will know who that is] rot somewhere because the world is just to fucking stupid.
EDIT; Thanks for the junk Carney, but sorry, you are still a moron.
Cheeky, did you miss the very last line? Summa Cum Laude from SUNY at BINGHAMTON! The bottom of my shoe did better than that. Other than that, can't say I know the guy.
ha ha ha @ the shoe joke.
SUNY at Binghampton = 12 weeks of pottery classes
hey! don't hate on SUNY, hate on UPenn where the kind of elitism that has ruined this country is drilled into the brain of these vile pieces of trash. harvard/yale/nyu/upenn law schools are cesspits of the elitist agenda.
Perelman? You mean Rhea? Last I saw her was on a rerun of Cheers.
What about Ronny the con man?
(I'm showing my age)
fuck you Shing Tung Yau and your fucking Calabi-Yau manifold.
Read more about the whole thing here; it will brake your heart in the similar way your heart was broken when you learned about what FED is, what money is and how big you are in debt due to their actions.
It is more easier to read this New Yorker piece for a layman and i dont know if anything was ever written in a math journal about the whole affair between Perelman and Yau .http://www.newyorker.com/archive/2006/08/28/060828fa_fact2

He just wants to get some of that CNBC poontang that's all. I hear Maria's into trying new things.
MCC. Cheerleader outfit. Twister mat. Astro-glide.
maria needs to get into botox, her undereye bags each have a 5 gallon capacity of blood/fat.
Who cares? It's only gone downhill since he quit DB.
John, answer this please. We've all been wondering, do they issue pom poms at the door or do you have to earn them?

haha. You have to spend a weekend at Cramer's practicing your tumblesaults and then we you have completed your brainwashing at CNBC Island MKULTRA retreat you are graduated with a Goldman Bukkake party.
classic.
btw John, read your bit the other day on your hardworking father/grandfather and the disgust you feel about the current situation. I thought it was a great comment, and you get a big amen from me.
btw, being a met fan is hard enough, to have them play in CITIfield in an extra twist of the knife.
Well done, ShankyS.
Great Match!
Carney: A person employed by a carnival
anyone can get a job at CNBS. you just have to hate gold, and I do right now.
hire me bitchez, i'm only looking for $30 or so south of here, then I'll love it again.
An old ploy: If you can't beat 'em, buy 'em.
It's the American way.
eBay has been the poster child for this sort of blatant anti-competition.
Clusterstock Is a Wall Street TBTF Propaganda Rag
Anytime I am redirected there... I get this douche baggery taste in my mouth...
Well... somebody needs to get out the shoe shine kit and polish Steve Lies-man's bald noggin... While you are at it John...
Make yourself useful... Give the gals, I mean "anchors" a pussy wax.
so what does a douchebag taste like?
What taste is in your mouth when you see and hear any of the following:
Cramer the Clown, Steve Lies-man, Fat Larry Summers, Lill' Timmay Geithner, Bennie Bernank-ster, Richard Shelby and that ridiculous comb over, John Bone-her and that Orange Tan, Palin McMILF opening her mouth to do anything other than insert a "nice big cock", C. Dodd, Barney Frank...
That taste...
word.
Cluster-whatever. ZH is destiny.
Art Carney, now he would be worth watching.
Okay who wins in this contest? Carney or Caruso-Cabrera?
Well, Dennis Kneale is probably the biggest loser. So long, Beaker. Wonder where that turd will float to next.
cluster... was way too 'cap and trade' green for me.
they did have the right 'byte' sized tidbits and an MTV approach to this stuff, which was good for a 'quicky', but i intentionally dropped off their 'hit counters' over a year ago. too many good sites out there these days to waste time there.
don't imagine this will have much of an effect on many of the better-brighter in here. or me either.
CNBC? CNBS!
Cheeky -- it seems to me what you mean to say is that the best part of Carn-hole ran down the mailman's leg................I am not Chumbawumba...................
I thought everyone on CNBC was already a carney.
"Step right up! Getcher tickets here! Only one life's savings needed to ride the incredible Wall Street Twirl-and-Hurl!"
Haha! Nice!
Complaining about or editorializing CNBC just makes them feel important. They aren't. Don't watch them, don't patronize their advertisers. Make a donation to Zero Hedge -- it deserves your support and attention. ZH is the cure for the financial news disease.
Just got paid.
Nice to be reminded that everyone has a price.
Just to add - Clusterstock was never independent. They always had a soft spot for big banks. Became all too evident when Goldman whitewashing campaign took place lately.
Clusterstock is fine for what it is, sort of like the CNBS of the econoblogs not that they are corrupt, I don't think they are, but because of the fluff.
i spit on jahn carnee (intentional misspell so he doesn't get anymore hits) pfft!
But the big question: what is his bra size? Undoubtedly inverse to brain size.
The best part of all of this is how pissed what's his name over at Reuters will be, you know who I mean, the guy who's named after a cat or a fish or something.
So now the TV Squid had LIESman and a Carney? What next, a Crammer and Kud chewer powder sniffer? Oh, wait...
PS: As for the females on CNBC, you guys REEEEEALLY need to get out more. Maybe Robo can have a meet n greet night with his fine assembly of sexy ladies, because if you guys who even think any of the CNBC women are attractive then you either:
A) Been at your trading terminal/computer WAAAAY too long
B) Still live in your mother's basement/attic
C) Need Viagra due to your advanced age
Suggestion:
If you enjoy women with sensuous curves then visit Rio/São Paulo.
Excellent proportion women with b/c cups, then visit Milan.
If you enjoy long legs then immediately go to Prague.
maybe one day ZH will stop linking to those scumbags even if it is great entertainment, they need to be boycotted period.
Does anyone else here agree with that idea???

Carney graduated Summa Cum Laude from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
LOL - Liesman graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
IVY league all the way
ivy league is the problem fella.
CNBC has a website?
Get the fuck out.

I thought Comcast was buying NBC? Damn memos...
"respected journalist"???
But I thought all bloggers were just amateur hystericals and fearmongers, amirite?
Moving the dickweeds in house I guess.
Bah, leave Carney alone. He wants to do the right thing. They all do. The establishment nihilist type will always swap sides when they sense the turning of the tide.
The American always wants to be "cool." So, let them be cool. SUNY or not... I think he's from old money. Otherwise he wouldn't be able to afford the house he lives in.
