France Rejects Hugo Chavez' Generous Offer To Mediate Libya Crisis

Tyler Durden's picture

Update: Libyan Rebel group rejects Venezuela peace proposal according to a report, as the Pentagon announces it remains cautious but not against Libya no-fly zone

Just headlines from AFP for now. Hpefully this should end the most embarrassing 12 hour period ever in which the dumbest news possible actually impacted the commodities market.

This is precisely what this market is now.. they are seeing just how 'dumb' they can make the 'news' to move it where they want.... seems all they will have to do next is say...                         and it will go which ever way they want

Monetary and fiscal policy are now "rumor-mill" policy.

The US gov't has no ammunition other than dumb ass rumors.  Just like the one the other day that Daffy was assassinated, with the aim of slowing the inflation in food, oil and PM's.  Pathetic.

Theyre completely out of ammo, now resorting to overnite rumors to provide any 'volatility'. Most humorous one was a couple weeks ago when the US itself ran a story that Gadaffi had been shot and killed, but we cant verify our own rumor.

Lowlife stars and silly rumors?!?!?!
You mean Quckdaffy and Chevyz sitting together on the crazy train is not gonna get a peace accord when the rebels said "phooey" to the negotiated proposition?  What a bunch of low lifes, thinking sitting down for mature, reasonable, sane discussions with those two butt nuggets would be a waste of time?
Well, lemme tell you, everything was gonna work out just fine, fine I say, till the Frenchies got pissed that they'd not been invited to the table, let alone reject something they've got not a fucking thing to do with.
Let them eat chapnigions and goose fat.

ori your logic is flawed.  because American foreign policy is cruel that makes Hugo Chavez credible? or is this just another opportunity for you to spew forth your hatred of the Big Satan America?

Judge Hugo for Hugo and judge America for America don't compare the two.

Chavez is very likely aware of the duplicity of the US and the West.

Very easy for him to offer a peace plan, even with the luxury of being workable, as Chavez knows that the plan will be rejected.

No matter how credible the plan is, if it does not meet the objectives of the US, the plan will be rejected.

Plain to understand.

Thu, 03/03/2011 - 13:15 | 1015399 pazmaker

....and that makes Chavez credible how?

Thu, 03/03/2011 - 13:19 | 1015412 AnAnonymous
AnAnonymous's picture

What do you mean by "it makes Chavez credible how?"

Credible on what? If you mean credible on the peace plan, I answered the question,  it seems.

If you ask how it makes Chavez credible on kicking a footie, that is another story.

Thu, 03/03/2011 - 13:39 | 1015481 pazmaker
pazmaker's picture

Ori is implying that he trust Hugo more than something coming out of USA or Europe, thus he is implying that Hugo is more credible then Europe or USA.

so how is the  lack of something credible coming out of Europe or USA  make Hugo Chavez anymore credible as he seems to imply?

If not then why include the comparison instead of just speaking about Hugo and his own merits?

Thu, 03/03/2011 - 13:57 | 1015573 AnAnonymous
AnAnonymous's picture

I answered to this point: because the plan will be rejected if it goes against the US and Europe's best interests.

Which relieves Chavez (or somebody else by the way) from the possibility of seeing any plan (including credible  plans)  that would go against the US/Europe best interests being accepted.

Chavez has a 'free' shot to call out the US/Europe. That makes him credible on this plan. Because he can afford the luxury of providing a credible plan.

US/Europe have to cover up for their best interests. They have to conceal behind humanitarian smoke.

For this specific event, chavez is more credible than the US/EU.

Chavez brokering a peace deal?  Who believes this?

Now the propaganda machine is just pissing on us and telling us it's raining.

I think Gaddafi is one demented son of a gun. I don't have any positive bias toward Chavez either. However, i think this whole issue with Libya has taken on the same magnitude of disinformation just like there was during Wikileaks honeymoon. Wake up for fucks sake. People have totally lost their ability to think for themselves. It's pretty disgusting that Gaddafi has recruited those dudes from Niger, Chad, Somali and whatnot to mop up the uprising. However, show me the money. Show me at least a trace of those "thousands of casualties", airstrikes against crowds. At best you got bullshit like this: "Until now claims that Qaddafi was bombing his people were based on witnesses reports. Then yesterday an Al Jeers cameraman was just across the street from an airstrike on Brega. Skip to minute 1:35 to see the airstrike"

Look at that. That justifies "regime change" because Gaddafi is "yet another Middle East petty dictator and people just want him to go and so on"? This is beyond hilarious. Get a grip of your MSM-programmed brains. And now US wants to establish a "no-fly zone" and getting its naval forces up close and personal to Libya. If you want to give me your "We care about Libyans and their freedoms!" and "Stop the genocide!" ban ki moon style crap - better eat it yourselves and see how it tastes in your mouth. The Navy is there because the US wants to bite some of that oil pie.

"Generous offer", my ass. Haha! What a joke, man. No, really, fuck Chavez and Gaddafi, but also screw this cynical bias, Tyler[s] - and you don't even try to hide it, you savor it! Way to go, Zerohedge.
