Jeffrey Frankel is the Harpel Professor of Capital Formation and Growth at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. As one of seven members of the National Bureau of Economic Research business-cycle dating committee, he is responsible for making the official declaration of the beginning and end of U.S. recessions.
