Fukushima Accident Assessment Officially Raised To Maximum, Level 7

Tyler Durden's picture

What started as less serious than Three Mile Island has just become as serious as Chernobyl, with the Fukushima disaster assessment having been raised to the highest, Level 7. From NHK: "For a series of accidents happening at TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency of the Ministry of Economy, which released large amounts of radioactive substances that affect human health and the environment in a wide range As an assessment based on international standards of the accident, the worst "level seven" decided to raise. "Level 7" is the same as the evaluation occurred in the Soviet Chernobyl disaster. Nuclear Safety Agency, 12, held a press conference with the Nuclear Safety Commission has decided to publish the contents of the evaluation." Of course, due to the much greater concentration of people, and the far smaller land territory, should Japan continue to persist with "controlling" the crisis with the same success as it has over the past month, very soon a Level of 8 and/or higher may be required. In the meantime, we are getting unconfirmed reports that radiation content in Hawaii milk is orders of magnitude greater than Federal Drinking water limits. While one can bicker over the exact number, it is certain that as long as Fukushima continues to billow radioactive smoke, steam and/or water, cumulative radiation levels, both domestically and globally, can only go in one direction.

But, but but....coal is still more dangerous!  See the cnbc article on it:

"The fly ash emitted by a power plant -- a by-product from burning coal for electricity -- carries into the surrounding environment 100 times more radiation than a nuclear power plant producing the same amount of energy"

"The Fukushima meltdown may mark a high point in anti-nuclear hysteria"

Stop being such a contrarian and join the "winning" side.  That's really what it's all about, being on the side that the majority of everyone else is on, right or wrong.

does denninger wear a hairpiece?  Looks mighty suspicious.  I never trust short bald people.  Its one of my weaknesses that has really paid off.

High Plains Drifter's picture

no. he doesn't wear a hairpiece. actually he gets those 5 dollar haircuts down in sunny niceville. that is where the barber puts a bowl on his square head and shaves everything showing with number 4 clippers...

Ahh yes, Karl Denninger -- the unending font of useless bullshit w/ the ego-stroking, intarweb smileys of perpetual mirror masturbation sessions that is his blog of 'Commentary on The Capital Markets'.

Come get your USDA ration of 'internet keyboard jockey' infused with self-righteous promotion and your side of 'I told you so!'; with a dessert of armchair general.

Fuck you KD and your damn smileys. Egotistical jackass..

i haven't really figured him out even after being a gold member.  I know he's in to preserving the status quo since his wealth will also be preserved, thus his ambition to "fix" the system.  I was banned several times for bringing anything up about 9-11.  If he is so smart, how come he cannot 't see the holes in the gov story?  Or why does he refuse to allow a discussion?  He seems intelligent from the articles he writes, but is he really writing them?  When intelligence is placed above and beyond common sense, I usually start mumbling things like....this guys an educated derelict.  I wish him well though.  He's a single dad and does care about the issues more so than most.

Last night Cognitive Dissonance posted a wonder article, the unfolding of these events "dove tails" perfectly into it.

Don't be blaming TPTB, "WE" are allowing this to happen.

Just think - if you have small children - they are probably getting dosed with radiation even while the gov't gives you the bullshit 'nothing to see here' routine. They are basically responsible for nuking your kid.  But let's see how much longer they can dick around, how many more people they can ruin...  Good job you monkey fuck.

another earthquake hit, ZH goggle Daiichi...

*Japan has been hit with another large aftershock this morning that has resulted in Tokyo"s Narita Airport closing its runways. There were also reports of a fire at the number 4 reactor in the Daiichi nuclear complex, but it appears the fire has been put out. The negative news out of Japan has resulted in selling of risk

The big tip was the night time glowing green cloud over Kansas moving with the jet stream.

They'll have to invent a new scale that goes to 10 when this is over.

wally_12's picture

The bombs dropped over Hiroshima & Nagasaki contained less than 20 kilograms of fissionable material.
The Hiroshima bomb was Uranium 238 and the Nagasaki bomb was Plutonium 235.
The blasts released large amounts of heat, Gamma, Beta and Alpha radiation. The fissionable products were less that 20 kilograms. The Fukushima plant had 1700 tons of fissionable material. A nuclear power plant is not designed to create a similar fission explosion. The possibility of global contamination is unthinkable with the amount of material on hand at the plant. I sympathize with the Japanese people. The fissionable products left over from the nuclear explosions were eventual removed by removing topsoil. The topsoil is contaminated for thousand of years. The Bikini Atolls in the Marshall Islands, used by the US for nuclear testing is still uninhabitable. The MSM does not know the difference from Plutonium to Bolognaium.

The kg numbers are about right.

This will be the new marker for the radiation severity scale, this will become a level 10 on a 7 scale at least.  Also more and more radiation is showing up in the environment in ever increasing dosages.  The longer this thing keeps belching out radiation, the more it will get into the environment.

Again "a massive debris field will be heading for the West Coast of the United States and Hawaii" according to researchers in Hawaii.

PolishHammer's picture

By the time the debris gets to the western shore it might be uninhabitable.

An anecdote, fwiw:

About 3 weeks ago I ordered one of these for $540:  http://seintl.com/products/inspector%2B.html

No one is taking orders anymore. Last week one sold on Ebay for $1,250.  There hasn't been one on Ebay since. Another one, same model but with an external sensor, is now bid up to $1,575 with a little under 2 days left.

To my surprise (and the vendor's credit!) I've got a tracking number and it ships tomorrow.  Might sell it, might not.

Jeez what disaster.

shirley maclaine was on oprah today talking about ufo's and reincrnation and all types of previously ridiculed/crackpotted topics that are now being allowed to stream out into the mainstream audiences via corporate-owned tv channels. (Before you ask, i was visiting my parents and my mother was watching oprah)

Now that fukushima is degenerating into some type of Tokyo Shock movie and the financial market is literally a keno machine in Atlantic City with deflation and armageddon as one option and hyperinflation and slower armageddon as the other option, the question is, what is really going on here?

i mean people like to come here and vent using gallows humor and whatnot, admire WB7's unique artistic expressions, but really. Why the fuck is a legend like shirley maclaine talking about ufo's on a show like oprah WHILE the country is literally falling apart, which leads into questions like why is the media now beginning to ask the RIGHT questions, like "is the two-party system leading us into gridlock?" (bloomberg) and cnbc is hosting more seemingly independent-minded analysts and traders.... i think we are truly in the quote unquote new world order. It's HAPPENING, but you CAN'T TALK ABOUT IT. You see, you neighbor/cousin/mother/coworker is watching and being brainwashed by the NWO as we eneter into truly chaotic times, but if you ACTUALLY BROACH THE SUBJECT WITH THEM VERBALLY, YOU GET A BLANK STARE CAUSED BY MISFIRING NEURONS. really people. Some of you may not even understand what i am trying to get at here.

it's almost as if exposure to the subject matter desensitizes and sucks you into the fold. Meanwhile they are employing their highly sophisticated hegelian tactics and strategems to neuter, pacify and confuse the entire population of the seat of the global empire. And as a result of writing this post i have been secretly blacklisted and i will never be able to get another job ever again, despite my impeccable credentials and nonexistant criminal history.

Really though, does anyone have any serious observations along these lines that aren't quippy one-liners to impress your "best friend at the dance who also didn't bring a date"??

No one will warn us before the radiation apocolypse, or the failure of nationwide food distribution, or the release of the next deadly worldwide epidemic, or any other mass genocidal human-killer. I've seen enough in my life to know that the physical "realities" we see and hear around us are the true game. And adepts aware of such surely do not share their knowledge with others. I have been professionally involved in the financial markets for 8 years now and it is totally fucked. I mean totally. It doesn't even make sense anymore. I am making jokes about this shit with guys who are worth tens of millions and they don't have a fucking clue what they are doing. they are literally sleepwalking through this shit because "fuck it. it is what it is".

Sounds eerily like the calm before the storm. Or the "lights out"

I am not quite sure exactly what you're getting at, however I left the financial industry (equity brokerage) after 10 years in mid January.  Since about 2007 I had a feeling that things were unreal, nothing mattered to anybody other than whatever analyst report was published that morning.  After leaving things started to become clear and make sense, my brain started working again.

I think the problem is from elementary and high school we're taught to chose a career.  Then we go to school and train for it and learn a trade.  Everybody memorizes existing theories, methods and formulas and comes out ready to go into the office and do whatever they're told.  So in short we have people who spend their formative and years as a young adult learning to fit in, while their powers of intuition and creativity are never exercised.

This is true with finance people, this is where politicians are at, central bankers and the media.  This isn't in their textbooks and they have no idea, their whole lives they have worked towards being a part of the "system" rather than using their instincts and asking what the system could do for them, it kind of becomes a religious belief in what is mistakenly referred to as "science".

Which leads me to another point, I myself coming to the realization I couldn't continue in my field was outright terrifying.  It was really all I knew, and try getting another job at 35 years old when you're resume says "institutional equity trader" or sitting in an interview and telling them you have experience with "working volatility arbitrage and risk arb trades".  I shop blocks, big blocks OK?  Haha, but I did it on my terms and it took me 4 years and some help from some wise people I'd confide in. Imagine everything is going along smoothly, you're making money, you get legless drunk every thursday night on the expense account and now you've got to contemplate life as you knew it is under threat?  And these people have not developed their powers of intuition or creativity so they're paralyzed.

Global Hunter's picture

Sorry I have said I get your point in a general sense, some of the specifics I wasn't sure about.

you know it's "game over" when the bring out Shirley Maclaine.

slewie the pi-rat's picture

hey, acrabbe @# 1159742!

i wld say you caught shirley, oprah, & mo and the impressions had a pretty amazing effect on ya, here!  i like shirley maclaine!  just positive impressions as a dancer and actress. something very forthright and open about her.  when she started with the ufo's i was fascinated by the pscychology involved and the types of memories involved.

i just wiki'd her.  she's warren beatty's sister and played coco chanel 2 years ago for a movie/miniseries thingy.

she's pretty clear abt the space cases!  obviously, she has had some truly incredible experiences, subjectively.  she is convinced they are also objective.  i don't think they need to be to be real.  i think it is quite possible for people to have very deep psychological experiences and be convinced that something objective happened, simply b/c they are in no ways equipped to understand that parts of themselves could be this fuking weird.

a person connects w/ a part that is quite deep. hidden. powerful.  they see and hear things differently.  really differently. when it is over, they realized they were in contact with some amazing truth.  they might say:  "i was visited by an angel."  and, the quantum envelope of whether this happened objectively is thus  resolved:  yes!

when we go on Normal Meltdown, all kindsa stuff happens.  my 2 fave bumper stickers are:  "i brake for hallucinations"  and "dude! where's my country?"

oprah's no dummy!  shirley is a truly artistic, hard-assed, card-carrying thespian and one of the world's most fascinating, interesting women, and she's only 77!

you ask:  "Why the fuck is a legend like shirley maclaine talking about ufo's on a show like oprah WHILE the country is literally falling apart,...?" well, acrabbe, maybe it was just for you!   lol!

interestingly, oprah & the MSM will leave the audience with:  Is shirley maclaine crazy? OR are UFO's real?

this is why i no longer subject myself to the MSM.  psychologically false dichotomies.  streaming and unending like fuking zH trolls.  always, always always innocently deflecting to the false. like each of us, including me.

i don't have any problem at all w/ shirley maclaine.  i think she is perfectly sane and a really cool lady, too.  and i do not interpret her experiences at all like she does.

+ 1 gazillion

My view is that the majority of people fall into 1 of 3 categories: (1) too dumb to understand the enormity of what is going on, (2) sufficiently amoral to continue to 'get theirs' and believe that their $$$ will protect them, (3) otherwise intelligent but have made an unconscious decision to ignore the obvious because the reality is just too damn frightening

Sometimes I wish I could be one of the above, life would be a whole lot simpler.
