Full Criminal Complaint And Affidavit In United States Of America vs Jared Lee Loughner
The WaPo shares the full criminal complaint with all 5 counts, as well as the affidavit by FBI special agent Tony Taylor which discloses that according to documents seized from 7741 N. Soledad Avenue in Tucson, Arizona, where Lougner resides, that there was an envelope recovered with "handwriting on the envelope stating "I planned ahead," and "My assassination" and the name "Giffords," along with what appears to be Loughner's signature." There goes the temporary insanity defense.

I've avoided the mainstream commentary on this issue like the plague. MSM is horrible to begin with, and I imagine all are scrambling to put their brand of spin on a horrible incident that has more to do with criminal behavior than anything else.
Yesterday someone mentioned they were (in a way) glad this person is still alive. That may sound bad, but I agree with that person - I'm very interested to hear what this guy has to say.

I am one that is glad he is still alive--for a few reasons.
He planned on being gunned down yesterday, he wanted to die like a suicide bomber. Or, he couldn't load that last clip and didn't get to kill himself.
Pretty simple. I want him to suffer for killing a 9 year old girl and other innocent people and for thinking it is OK to do what he did. If he had taken himself out--this would all be over. Now he has to take the punishment. He won't get off for insanity. He planned it. Now he gets to live with it unless he gets knifed or finds a way to take himself out in jail. I think life in prison or waiting for the death penalty is better than his hope of killing himself which he failed to do. Why couldn't he have just done that on his own and leave out people shopping or with Giffords?
I will say one thing that contradicts my above statements--he was IMO mentally ill. And I know that too many people fall through the cracks without help that need help. But when your actions affect so many others who had no reason to be in your line of fire, my empathy and sympathy end.

Actually, five counts against this guy is rather low. There are many other federal counts that could be brought against him, although minor compared to those standing now. When prosecutors bring a minimum count list against a defendant, it typically means they are totally confident he can be convicted on those alone, and do not want to dilute - and slow down - the conviction process. Which, makes sense in this case.

That photo is pretty clear and if that guy lived around there, somebody would have already said who he was but they haven't so nobody around there knew him I guess. But somebody does. The suggestion that this action might have been carried out to further an agenda, gains credibility with this information. I am sure, as are many others, that this incident will be used to further restrict our civil rights. The fact that so many of our civil rights have been taken away so fast, with almost no resistance is scary. This means or suggests that the government will continue to whittle away our civil rights, as they really did not intend us to have any of these in the first place. I mean the founding fathers write up the Constitution, a business and government empowering document, and then remember oh what about the people...so they then add the first ten amendments to the Constitution. Since then, the Bill of Rights has stood solid, until the last couple of decades where the ruling elite have decided that civil rights are something that we the people really do not need and can not be trusted to exercise well. Unfortunately, the second part of this statement is correct, as we so willing give up our civil rights in exchange for protection from the boogie man (terrorists, illegal aliens, drug cartels, the spaghetti monster...).
Be this as it may, I really think it is about time that we be honest with our labeling of people, and get away from this left wing or right wing nonsense. In my opinion it is really a division between people who want to be left alone to live their lives, and those who insist in dictating to people how they should live their lives. So we are really a nation of independents and dependents.
I do hope this complacency with the continued loss of civil rights ends soon...
