Gasparino Patiently Explains To Caruso-Cabrera What Breaking The Law Means

Tyler Durden's picture

In a brilliant moment of sobriety and lucidity, Charlie does a phenomenal job of explaining to the cynical Caruso Cabrera(s) why the AG's attempt to prosecute Ken Lewis is more than just posturing and why "running for governor" has little to do with trying to get to the bottom of criminal abuse of fiduciary powers and shareholder fraud. Hopefully MCC(s) can finally comprehend logic (it is excusable if that is not the case: Gallium-Arsenide has been proven so much more efficient than Silicon at being a truly efficient AND/OR/NOT gate). And Charlie's masterful reporting is capped by pointing the obvious: if Ken goes down, he very well should bring down Hank with him. If nothing else, having Hank and Ben as present witnesses should incite whatever court this drama unwinds in to charge front-row Yankee ticket prices for attendance. If the "Dynamic Dollar Depreciation Duo" can for once help a city/state with their insurmountable budget problems, so much the better.

Melissa Frances now says....

"I should have been more specific. I'm looking for costume suggestions for KUDLOW..."

Don't even get me started on a costume for "always a bull market" Kudlow. That buffoon must be the McDonald's clown if he's anything.

Can anyone blame MCC(s) for her inability to comprehend the concept that the law applies to Wall Street and it is not just politics as usual?  (Another moment of clarity)  After all, the United States is the worlds leader is parsing exactly what the term judicial exclusion means in todays world.  Not only to the idea of law as practiced in the US, but of the concept of the rule of law as the term is understood from the development of western civilization. On other words, the law is for those little people that do crack, not those that do powder and blue label by the pool or in the halls of federal power.

I'll agree with you partly, but it is so much more complicated than just saying CIA. CIA, FBI, Dallas PD, DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency), Army Reserve, Various mafia's, Politicians, Oil Money, and right wingers in the Pentagon, all came together for that one. A highly compartmentalized job, with various players all in for their own reasons. Call it the perfect storm of enemies for Jack and Bobby. And the roles of each agency were very different from what most think they were.

Whether or not powerful people and groups will be pursued for obvious crimes committed right in the open is now a legitimate topic of debate.

I know when these things come up, I certainly have no faith that anyone will pay any price.  We're supposed to satiated by clawing back some paltry amount from AIG bonuses.  Nevermind the mobsters looting the place out the front door.

Caruso Cabrera simply can't be that dumb. Thus she is simply trying really really hard to distract attention from her er....other assets and appear like she's a credible reporter rather than the repeater she is.

Good luck with that Cabrera.

Can you say OH MY GOODNESS. Talk about two conflicting sets of facts. This has become a battle of semantics in the interest of obfuscating dastardly deeds. CNBC has become like Mike's Vick's kennel as the dogs fight to death pending the sale of NBC Universal. Which mutt will rise to the top and  rip out MCC's throat on live TV? Side note, anyone see that out an out attacks Daily Show is throwing out? I wonder if Vivendi intends to keep their 20% after a 49/51% sale of GE's stake to Comcast. Maybe Vivendi is looking to GTFU.

Pressure on your Congressmen right now is needed to ensure that we don't allow Paulson and Bernanke to avoid testifying due to some bullshit government-just-doing-my-job-so-I'm-exempt waiver.  We need them on the stand taking the fifth; we need video of them refusing to answer questions in a court of law.  They will try to pull some damnable Clintonesque testifying privately etc.  We need video of their testimony released to the public.

Pressure!

Exactly right. Here's hoping Cuomo will not pull an F Scott Patrick Fitzgerald type weenie out and "defer" to the Big Boyz out of respect for their high station. Fitzgerald did that with Cheney in Scooter's case and the life went out of the trial. Here we have a huge chance to have fun with Paulson's stage managing, or rearrangement of the deck chairs on the Wall St. Titanic.

He would do it anyway.  He would resort to the tried & true, would you rather have THAT or someone with whom you can agree with some of the time to advance the program?  Act blue, KOS and the rest would line up and lap the Gerber like good uns.  Just as if the situation were reversed and a republican would say, there go those activist judges again, vote for me again and I'll never have to make a pardon like that again because my judges would understand the importance of national economic security and Red State, Town Hall, Limbaugh & the rest would be right there laping up the Gerber ....  Two sides of the same coin....  while America & the world marvels at how we had everything and threw it away for a bunch of kleptocrats who kept us at bay making us fight each other over the crumbs.

One thing about Charlie is he has no idea what fraud is. Even if Paulson litterally put a gun to Ken Lewis's head and said buy ML, that has nothing to do with Ken Lewis's disclosures to his shareholders.

The crime is not buying ML, but disclosure.

On October 1, 2008, Caruso-Cabrera said she leaned "very far to the right" politically on The Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC[3].

On March 26, 2009, Caruso-Cabrera can be heard saying "bullshit" on air during the broadcast of President Obama's Virtual Townhall[4].

It is Caruso-Cabrera's personal belief that people at an economic disadvantage should be allowed to sell their organs at an exchange, and it is "paternalistic" to disallow such a practice.

Just lol; it's all you can do.

On balance, I am a little dismayed to see Ken Lewis get kicked around. It seems like he is being tossed to the mob by the big bankers (Paulson etc.) to satisfy the public's lust for blood. Paulson should be the one they're going after.
