And it was just yesterday that we ridiculed the Goldman brain trust for pushing everyone into the world's biggst hedge fund hotel, Apple, which is held by over 190 hedge funds. Don't look now but Nasdaq futures are about to get reacquainted with gravity.

Lamont Sanford: [ about his cologne ] - It's called " A day in Paris "
Fred Saford: Smells more like " A night in El Segundo".
Fred Sanford: [ in court ] Look at the Judge. He's a brother. We lucked out.
Aunt Esther: My body was blessed by Mother Nature, honey.
Fred Sanford: And as you got older, it was cursed by Father Time.
Fred Sanford: For a dummy, you make a lot of sense.
What a classic show...such forms of art will be not be created again in our lifetime.

Archie Bunker: Sticks and stones may break my bones, but FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT.
Back in the day late in the evening I would tune into All in the Family which was followed by Sanford and Son...a true all-star lineup.

here come the machines.
Yes, but that's in Europe and Europe doesn't matter anymore.
ain't 'dat 'da trute!
yeah...like the entire ponzi is going to come crashing down because Steve Jobs has health issues. non event that will easily be glossed over by 10AM Tues.
Dunno boutchoo, but I made a pretty penny off the dip the last time Mr. Jobs was announced sickly. Permanent? Maybe no. Tradeable? Oh hells, yes.
It's about time newtons law was followed! Its been a painful short but xmas came a little late!
It is sorta hillarious, one guy gets sick and the whole market might tank. No one deal or one person should be able to make or break a company.
<'investor with confidence'>: yeah, hey...you know that 'thing' we arranged when I gave you the envelope and the picture and you...yeah, that. it's uh...it's off. yeah, he's sick anyway.
<'operator'>: okay, well you're not gettin' your money back..it was like a deposit or something.
<'investor with confidence'>: sure, sure...i gotta go cover some shorts and buy some ITM calls.
If Jobs stays constipated too long I could loose 5% on my retirement. His fiber intake effects the world now.
I don't think he'll stay blocked up for long, given the last round of health scare with Mr. Jobs, but if it's a long-term sayanora, then it'll offset the Verizon launch. The "wonder twins" at the FRBNY (form of a block purchase) like fruit too much for the effects to last.
Go long Metamucil.
Castles made of sand, or built upon 1 man, are only so strong hey easy come easy go! Sure sand is a component of concrete, but structures like our economy and markets which are built of sand on a foundation of helium...well dont be so surprised when they suddenly crumble easily!
Buy the fucking dip, you fucking idiot...
Quick call Brian Sack: Jobs needs mouth to head asap, or AAPL could be without its Jim Jones!
Woah! Hold on. Nobody short anything yet!
The market cannot fall a single percent until my January SPY puts expire worthless. You can take this to the bank.
Stevie Jobs= Apple...thats the real captcha answer.
Yeah, but by tomorrow am, every sell
side shill will be preaching otherwise.
Apple will be over $400 by March
I doubt it'll get to $400 now if Jobs remains out. We should see a pull back to $320's but earnings will be a blow out after the bell. I would buy any dip in the morning for the earnings run up.
Hey Wanger...
I warned 'ya bro....
That stock was way overextended after huge run.
Glad I'm not holding the bag.....
LOL....
Robo, I believe you warned me at the 320 level. I have a stop at -3% so I'll be fine. Worst hit will put it right back at 320-325. That will attract a lot of buyers, including me.
Still silly enough to believe a -3% stop will prevent you from getting an 8% loss in seconds.. hilarious. Like you have any say over SKYNET based transactions..
It's interesting to see people feel invincible when bullish.
As we saw during the flash crash especially. Any gap down won't help your stop. You should have either used puts or some qid since apple is 20% of the 100
Harry's got a -3% stop so he sleeps well in the roach motel...too damn funny!
Hey Harry, whats the in and out cost on your three Apple trade shares. 4% total?
Hint - the Door with the red light over it that says 'Exit'. Get over near there young fellow.
Don't worry you can PROJECT gold will go down more than apple can REALLY go down. Gold Gold will be crushed. As long as you avoid reality you still get to win.
and gold will be at $300 per oz, right? Ice cube chance in hell for either scenario..
Tick tock...
About time.
Apple, rotten to the core.
Killing you softly,
yet you want more.
Virtual bliss

s'a bit droopy...
Nasdaq futures down hard in the last hour or so . However , given that intraday dip buying has been rampant lately I'd imagine a retracement is a distinct possibility .
strange that this announced on a day the US Market is closed
Aren't the markets' primary raison-d'etre, to hurt most of the people most of the times?
It's says here in the brochure: "Efficient price-finding mechanism."...and something about an "invisible hand". Oh, there's an asterisk *
* Does not apply to manipulated markets or those dominated by asymmetric information arbitrage.
They love doing that.
Steve jobs being sick and stepping down was in one of my predictions for the new year 3 weeks back.
If the bears can't mount a full frontal assault from this "gift" from Apple then all hope really is lost.
Us bears have been impaled over and over again these past few months . Can't speak for others but personally I'm playing things far more conservatively and cautiously .
Doesn't work that way any more. You
have to wait for the longs to cannibalize
themselves.
Too funny comment about the squid.
All beta all the time and then calling it
alpha.
The French Frog is right. Todays market has fooled the most in and long, long time.
Call me naive, but unless a special apple board meeting was convened over the weekend (I doubt it but I don't know for sure), then this piece of information must already have been known by some people before the close of business on friday; which makes the release of the news on a US bank holiday almost criminal (well, at least if you are long the stock/nasdaq); maybe someone who has access to option trading tick data could inform us of any 'out of the ordinary' option activity on aapl/ndq right before the bell on friday?!

Got to have someone to sell to when you’re shorting.

I just imagined a cross between the matrix 'sea of pods' scene and that damn baby from the e-trade commercial all wielding a million little iPads with pig-a-licious greed as their beady eyes rolled up in their pointed little heads.
And right after "Black Swan" won so many Golden Globes...ungrateful peasants!
Black Swans are like buses: none come for ages and suddenly 2 turn up at once
Apple opened a store in AKRON OHIO. It is the most uncrowded apple store I have ever seen. That seems symptomatic of running out of growth opportunities.
Jobs didn't show up at the iPhone launch on Verizon Wireless in New York last week. Rumors of health problems were circulating last week as a result. The man looks very haggard... I submit that he passes away within one year.
Perspective people. Yes, Jobs is an amazing innovator and visionary but the company has so many "Jobs'" products in the pipeline that it will be fine after a brief pullback.
It's only down 6-7% in Europe. That would put it at about $320-325 max pain in US. That will be a buying opportunity right before blowout earnings. AAPL traded in this range a couple of weeks ago. Not a big deal.
Of course it's not a big deal to you - just like how the real estate industry constantly says it's always a good time to buy..
Depending on what state you live in, US real estate is attractively priced. May dip a further 10-15% but no-one can really call bottoms. Canadian real estate on the other hand is a grenade set to go off.
Sell Canada...buy US.
Expect the Fed to announce a new program called the Apple Stabilization Fund with the express purpose of boosting equities.
What this shows is the ultimate lack of depth to Apple. Much of it is illusionary froth, and Jobs is a big part of that illusion. But with the current inviolable market pyschology of buy the dips, it would not surprise me to see AAPL plunge at the opening and slowly recover tomorrow.
Can you eat those AAPL shares? Well, I can't eat my gold either.... but at least it doesn't get sick.
Gee never saw that coming did we?
You know it never surprises me anymore that animal spirits are nothing more than drunken pigfest of stupidity and greed.
Yes greed is good, but pigs get eaten.
That is what happens with no succession plan, the old farts at Apple are done and hte youth there are like first generation inheritors which means they are essentially riding coat tails.and the spendign the family firtune on chicks, beer, and wine.
What's the saying? The money is gone by the 3rd generation, well here we go in the corporate world. Shame though.
This is still true: http://marketcyclesresearch.blogspot.com/2011/01/imho-we-are-very-close-to-next-sell-off.html
PMs already sold off, from here get used to the (umbelievable) fact that also stocks will grind lower ... DAX already established a distribution range last couple of weeks, FTSE followed last week and now US indices will follow ... duration possible around a month or so ... just to hyperrally into summer later
And Harry - do us a favor and BTFD ...
