Germany Sends Three Warships To Libya

Tyler Durden's picture

As we pointed out yesterday, while the US navy is seriously starting to amass in the Persian Gulf region, it has left the Mediterranean and more importantly, the Libyan coastline unguarded. With concerns that Gaddafi will follow through with what we speculated on Monday was a Saddam-like "after me the flood" act and burn his oil facilities, this may not be the most prudent thing. Luckily, here comes Germany. According to Spiegel, Germany has sent three warships to Libya which may possibly get involved in a "military engagement."

From MSN.de:

The German Navy has sent three ships of the operations and training association in 2011 in the maritime area between Malta and the Libyan coast.

The Spiegel Online reports akutell. The three ships are the supplier "Berlin" and the frigate 'Brandenburg and Rheinland-Pfalz. "Overall, the ships will have about 600 soldiers on board.

As Spiegel Online report on the EU takes in an emergency, a military engagement in Libya considered. The news magazine refers back to an unnamed diplomats.

Shocking jus... nice links all around...I followed the Philly Church story... it's all happening.

And this concentration of ships in the Gulf region in general has some pretty crazy "potential" stories associated. I'm sure everyone has heard about the Stargate in the Gulf of Aden? If not, maybe time to get acquainted eh?

Something big is brewing for sure. The mix is as potent as it is surreal.

Remember, today is 666 days from 21-12-2012...

Colnel, India has been recently tested (I'm totally serious) with 2$ a Kg. Onion. That is huge, 5 years ago, governments would have collapsed. Now prices trending down, but it was a totally manipulated price rise.

Also, a whole lot seperationist movements are creating trouble (mostly Maoist, chinese or outside influence funded).

And the political sphere is a huge mess with a lot of scams coming to surface, scapegoating etc.

So, while lot's of local MSM hyping about shining, success etc. reality on the ground is just the opposite.

Thanks, ORI.  I did read your blog post, and while I may disagree with your view (as inferred) of capitalism, I totally agree with your dismay at the outcome.  It seems to be universal, that with every gain in comfort, there is a loss of understanding as to what's really important in life.  The line between want and need has been obliterated.  It was a slow transformation, but unfortunately, the learning curve is going to be much steeper on the way back down.  Soon.

Good luck to you, ORI.

I think you hit the nail on the head.  Thrive and survive are not too far apart.  "Comfort" is relative.  Maybe if people would turn off the TV and hold their kids in their laps...  Maybe if people would skip going out to eat and enjoy a simple meal at their own table...   Nurture a garden with the effort they put into polishing their new (financed) car...  Turn off the Ipod and listen to their child butcher a song on the piano...  Maybe if....

The best things in life ARE free. At least in terms of whatever fiat currency they currently worship.

Special Forces or Green Berets I don't think would do that, that is not their mission.

Army Rangers(tan Beret)  (used to be black beret until the army switched all soldiers over to berets) mission is to kill kill kill not the Special Forces.

So while I agree with you Rodent that Special Forces would not do this, basically they wouldn't be assigned to do this as it is not their specialty,   The task would be assigned to 11bravos   marines and Army Rangers

1. The Government does NOT have your best interests at heart and Lies about it every chance they get.

2. Law Enforcement will LIE and Shoot into your House with Children inside.

3. They (being the Government and Law Enforcement) will use Tanks on thier own women and children.

Case closed, get some big heavy stuff and shoot fucking back, or die like a pussy... the choice is yours.

***** If you dont have something big enough to defend yourself from certain death, steal it. *****

This Country was founded on hit and run tactics... it was founded on Taxation (QE Infinitum) without representation... nothing new here.

Law Enforcement will want thier food stamps first, so they will fire on whomever says fire on whenever they say fire as well.

No one is perfect, but I didnt sware and oath to protect the people... put on a badge... and then murder children... and thier excuse was... they were armed as well as us? so we need a tank? fuck that, fuck them.. when it first happened... but another scenario goes:

Must eliminate "suspected " (based on the best "available info" from "enhanced interrogation"),

"domestic terrorist leaders" and their "reported supporters".

Any "collateral damage", however "tragic", is an "acceptable risk" that cannot be avoided.

Those are your orders.

Personally served in a half dozen special operations units. This might happen under only the most extreme and hard-to-imagine scenarios. Other than that, those giving the "order" better watch out because this simply will not occur.

One thing we do have going for us is that soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines is that they are volunteers. They come from all around us and maintain their relationships to home, family, etc.

What is more likely to happen is a disintegration of unit cohesion (both military and civil police) with the "Rambos" operating on their own agenda.

It's been a while since I realized draft times were over.

Draft was an ugly thing but it drew people from all walks of life, including people who were not that eager of adopting a military vision of life.

Today, people join the military by choice. It makes a huge difference.

Mostly four dominant groups in the military.

-gang members who want military trainings. Not that well screened out. But small number all in all.

-religious warriors on a crusade

-sadists who feel they are oppressed in civilized countries as they can not express their true self

-people looking for military benefits (healthcare, tuition, prestige...)

People who joined the military with other goals are suppressed because they are a minority.

Better to be aware of the environment. Potentially a life saver.

As to what happens in good times when they come back in society, it is nothing as long as they can do nothing.

Restraining is a false idea. There is no restraining. If they do not act, it is because they cant. Once the gates are opened, dont expect the military to behave.

You presume there is going to be some rational decision making process.  In all likelihood, there will not need to be.  For example, if a particular town gets infected with disease X (unbeknownst to the feet on the ground that it was actually designed by the military), then it is their moral duty to help ensure the safety of surrounding towns and persons by exterminating said city...  you can extrapolate from here...  but, make no mistake, the plain vanilla order to shoot is probably not what we're going to be faced with...  it will be marred in many other considerations...

But others seem to believe that those with the willingness to carry out something like this are the majority.

That is a big  flaw in the analysis.

Football is an amazing source of learning. Because it is distorted.

On a pitch, when a brawl is started, usually, three groups within the same team emerge: one that wants to brawl (a minority), another trying to stop the brawl from going on and the last doing nothing.

You've the three possible stances possible: brawling, trying to stop the brawl and do nothing.Quite funnily enough, very often, the group trying to stop the brawl is the most numerous.

In the military (or the Police by the way), the group trying to stop wrong doings is extremelly weak. You got people who performs the wrong doings and people turning a blind eye to it. That is all.

The story about "it is none but a minority" is diversion, pure and simple because there is no opposing force to the people performing the wrong doing.

After that, various schemes of rationalization cascade to hide that reality.

And if true and th ebig lie is revealed, the resulting cog diss will give TPB enough time to sow whatever seeds they want, take control, let some places run free and wild etc.

Ultimately it will depend on the willingness of the civies to shoot back. Guns for food programs will be a hit if order can be maintained; shoot on sight curfews; helicopter/sniper teams.

I agree with your post.  In this scenario, the Military would believe that they are protecting the same constitution as the guy above who is ready to fight them.  I know this example is different... but look at the vitriol both sides are showing in the battle in Wisconsin.  Both sides believe that they are the true Americans fighting on the side of capital T - Truth.

Dude, I'd kill protesters waving a flag with a hammer and sickle.

You have to remember the officer corps holds civilian control almost as a religion. Because when that changes, the Republic dies.

The right to wave any flag in peaceful protest against the federal government is guaranteed by the First Amendment.

I agree that the probable majority of our military has deep respect for the republic and for civilian leadership.  The Air Force Sniper I know knows more about the constitution and current events than almost all of my civilian friends.

My point is, however, that along with this respect, the military indoctrinates its members to feel that it is superior to US citizens not involved in the military and that they are expendable if they conflict with the current regime's interests.  I don't like commies either, but the way you feel about violence towards communist protesters is how, I suspect, many military members feel about ANY protest to the US government.

There are a few agreements like that (armed incursion) between countries when there's cross border drugs/arms trafficking that bothers both countries. It is restricted to a few kilometers/miles including air support/pursuit under certain condition (defined area, far from cities, etc).

Save time from asking permission each time, when you could lose trail...

That's to prevent potential American bodies from pulling a Vietnam when WWIII starts. Can't be losing potential fodder for the war machine.

What worries me is potentially having DHS waltzing over the border to snatch whomever they want and it being papered over as all well and good and legal.

It's simple, when they declare WWIII, you should all refuse to fight, because you know it will just be another war to further the aims of the bankers. Don't let them wrap it up in the flag again. I think the last thing you need to worry about is having to defend the constitution and freedom from the Canadian Forces. The ones you need to defend it from are already in your country and running the place.

The spice must flow.

It determines all. Gaddafi is flamboyant, temperable and sold as a loon but his management of the crisis is rational and determined by the West.

He knows that the West will back up the regime that controls the oil infrastructures. He promised to protect them.

The faster he puts production back on line, the better for him. Expect even more brutality if he can.

Something far more significant is taking place. Perhaps Israel yelling "WOLF!" on Syria's "nuclear weapons" is the key?

This is just a show mainly to demonstrate the Germany acts within its new responsibilities as temporary member of the UN Security Council. They think they have to do this and still have this amusing hopes of becoming a permanent member.

I could laught the whole day about this, but unfortunately they are burning my tax dollars for this pipe dream (and by the way what would Germany gain from being a permanent member?).

So I doubt they will really fight. As I wrote before, it's just showing off to demonstrate that Germany takes on the responsibilities as a nonpermanent member of the UN security council.

Maybe it also helps that the German defense minister is currently under fire for having copied large portions of his PhD thesis.

I suspect it's just showing off in order to demonstrate to the world that we take the responsibilities of being a nonpermanent member of the UN security council.

Could also be a stunt to help the german defense minister as he is under fire for having copied large portions of his PhD thesis.

Finally it could also be a thing to avoid too many refugies arriving in Europe, but I doubt it. Much more likely they will ship any refugies directly to Germany and give them a passport (in fear to otherwise look like Nazi's again - that card always work on our politicians).
