Germany's BayernLB Cuts Ties With Goldman
And so the real fallout begins. From Reuters: "German landesbank BayernLB
[BAYB.UL] said on Wednesday it cut ties to Goldman Sachs in response to U.S. regulatory action against the Wall Street
bank, the first sign of a loss of business in Germany."
A spokeswoman for Goldman Sachs declined to comment.
BayernLB's action comes days after the Securities and
Exchange Commission accused Goldman Sachs of defrauding
investors by failing to say that a prominent hedge fund manager
bet against a Goldman subprime debt product that he helped
design.
Germany warned it would do this. It is doing it. It took them 24 hours. German efficiency.

Well, Goldman hasn't disputed many of the facts, have they? They've only disputed whether or not their acts were illegal. They have offerred "defense", stupid crap like "we lost money". I can completely understand a bank not wanting to do business with a broker that has, for all intents and purposes, acknowledged the despicable, but apparently commonplace conditions that led to bringing this case.

Concur. I actually really LIKE Germans, my message above was stated incorrectly. They are nice people for the most part, and all that I've dealt with have real integrity. Rare.

I am still waiting for the first GS alum in the coming months to leave and write a tell all blockbuster of the daily practices that occurs at Goldman. The first book will command the largest sum and the man/woman will be lauded as a hero. I expect most are looking for a potential exit or considering opening up their own funds.
