Getco Churns Nearly Entire GM Float As Stock Closes At Lows Of Day, And $1 Below Break Price

Tyler Durden's picture

The only clear winner from today's GM IPO? All those who got IPO shares and flipped them to the sheep. And of course GETCO, which churned 452 million of GM's 478 million share float: in other words 95% of the entire float was traded by computers! As for everyone else, you lost: with the stock closing at the lows of the day, all retail investors who bought in post the break, and on the way down ended up with losing positions. We eagerly await the teleprompter's appearance at 4:15 pm eastern to spin this in the right way and convince people that a loss is really a gain.

It appears that RobotTrader gets it.

Everyone loves to admire beautiful women; either we want to be them or we want to have them.  Perfectly human and perfectly natural.

There is no one who is being put-down or degraded and, frankly, I am very glad that women are welcome here.  I think it is important not to exclude more than half the population through a process of intimidation.  Women are far better traders than men are by a mile and to exclude them would eliminate half of the good trading tips we could garner from this site.

So, stupidity it is not.  Eye candy it is.  And it is good.

Cramer confirmed it.

Robert Wolf of UBS thinks at this very second that GM is great buy and can't wait to get his clients money into it. He didn't say where he is putting his money...

Obama's speech confirmed that we are now under some kind of half-assed communism...

GM has paid back 50% of the Taxpayer Bailout... Yeah?

How can a company that is 1/2 owned by the Taxpayer have an IPO?

I am ignorant when comes to this level of Corpo-Governmental Criminality.

Is there somebody who can explain (beyond "because they said so") how this is legit?

*IF* the SAAR was going back to 16M units per year....yea, that's right.  CRE and residential RE is a great buy also if it gets back to peak bubble levels.

The problem is, we aren't going back to those levels.  Some people can't seem to accept that.

GM, F, and Chrylser are gaining market share though.  I don't think it justifies this assinine share price...but, they'll survive as a company.

No, the National Socialst Party of Germany after the First World War was set up as a fascist dictatorship, in that there was a council for the governemnt, led by a chancellor on the one side, and on the other side were social enterprises and corporations.  It was a Fascist state.

Fascism basically means that the government and the corporations are one; whereby the people running the corporations move into government and vice versa, exchanging ideas until they become indistinguishable.

An example would be Robert Rubin of Goldman-Sachs becoming Secretary of the Treasury, or the Secretary of the Treasury, Henry Paulson, having come from Goldman-Sachs.

Bing Ferdnand Porsche and see what his role was in building the "People's Car," or what happened to Thyssen-Krupp when they wouldn't play ball.

It's all there.  This is just a replay.

Obviously, it's a long shot and the public has to stop mule-kicking them in the head every chance they get.

Clearly, the equity charade today is complete propoganda bullshit which is unfortunate because it fuels the skeptical view of GM.  I don't think the workers, managers, and executives need that right now.

That's because they changed the open price early on from 35 to the 33 list price, even though it indeed started at 35.  That's why the percentage looks higher.  Just putting more lipstick on the pig.

Ok, OT for titties, but PO'd and generally cranky that GM is pricing the Volt starting at $41k.

Why is this car so expensive? It looks like a Hyundai. Why isn't it priced like one?

Gotta figure they are getting a lot of the components from China. What's with the markup?

U.S. needs to wean off oil, and the U.S. middle class finances have contracted, but nooooo, GM is marketing peak oil awareness as status symbol.

The same reason the Saturn EV-1 was only leased and taken off the market.

They absolutely do NOT want electrics or hybrids to be successful, so they're priced accordingly. Who says sabotage is only done by enemies?

MSM sure is tooting the GM Horn. Thanks in part to their relentless efforts in crushing Toyota with all the negative recall publicity. I'm sure the VOLT will be the future for GM? NOT! Go back and read all those articles about how China is hoarding all of the earth's presious minerals...Good luck with that. Oh and by the way..How much is a new Chevy Volt electric car worth?
