Grayson Calling For Prosecution Of Banks Engaging In Criminal Foreclosure Activities

Tyler Durden's picture

Taz is once again back on the scene, sending the following letter to the US Attorney in the middle district of Florida, and to FBI Director Mueller, "asking for prosection of banks engaging in illegal activities." The particular catalyst to this action was the much discussed last week mistaken breaking in of Nancy Jacobini's home by a JPM contractor. Grayson will release the attached letter at a press conference today in front of the home of Jacobini. In the letter Tax is up to his usual verbal fireworks: "If perpetrators of perjured affidavits and other systematic criminal activity can get off simply with civil liability -or even less, an insincere bureaucratic apology- the freedom that Americans enjoy will erode quickly in the face of lawless seizure of property... Without clear property rights, and a legal system that insists on clear proof of those rights before transferring ownership by force, the economy will fall apart."

Yea, claim the Democrats did it. There is NO difference between the Republicans and Democrats. It's the banker/corporate/MIC party. And BB was appointed by Bush II.

Where did your precious republican rule get us for 8 years? 2 useless foreign wars, 9/11, the hunt for WMD, un-paid for prescription drug benefit, un-paid tax cuts (yes, I do understand static scoring), Patriot Act, Guantanamo, and lots and lots of pork-barrel spending.

No, you're right, I can't see the difference. Vote your established republican candidate in and hope for some change...

p.s. haven't 'worshiped' a liberal in my life.

Also, it is exactly this form of divide and conquer that empowers the elites. Other than monetary debasement, "lets you and him fight" is their only other trick.

Completely agree, and I can't stand Grayson.  I'm certainly glad someone is finally starting to say these things.  In public.

Yeah, that he's down in the polls upwards of 10-points probably has something to do with this.  And yeah, it would be nice for this sort of letter to be drafted regarding the Fan/Fred/Ben/Barney unholy empire.  But really, to expect that much from any CONgressCritter is probably several bridges too far at this point in our history.

So Kudos to Comrade Grayson - let us hope he's replaced in November by someone as interested in looking at what Uncle Sugar did to bring this about as prosecuting the obviously guilty as sin bankster class.

Typical, NOTW777;

Lose sight of the bigger picture by devolving into partisan attacks... Get this... There's not a dimes worth of difference between the Dems and Rethugs...

Where were you when Bush lied us into Iraq at a current cost of over $700B... Where were you as the Constitution was systematically shredded... Where were you when Bush's Treasury secretary pushed through the $700B TARP bill with fear mongering talk of martial law if it wasnt passed... Where were you when Cheney held secret energy talks with his cronies to divide up the oil... errrr... energy spoils... Where were you when the Patriot Act, spying on Americans, warrantless wire taps on US Citizens, extraordinary rendition and torture were standard playbook items by the Rethug administration... And McCain almost put Sarah (dumb as a bag of hammers) Palin a heart beat away from the nukes!  All Repubs... The Dems are no better...BTW, it can be argued that Phil Grahm, a Rethug Senator at the time, is directly responsible for the current condition because of his efforts to deregulate the banking system and getting Glass-Stegall repealed (aided by Bill Clinton)...

The two party bickering will lead to our down fall unless we start thinking, critically, for ourselves...

I could go on... I could also compile a similar list for the Dems, O, and Clinton... Stop it with the Faux News/Rethug talking points... Get a grip and look at who the real enemy is - Wall Street, The Big Banks and the Fed... Put down the bright shiny objects for once and get out of the sand box and look around... Then get engaged...

Grayson is on the right track... So is Ron Paul...

The people that brought this on us NEED TO GO TO JAIL.

On the plus side, Grayson is rousing the rabble. So he's a useful fool.

The real question is, for which side? I see this as a distraction, to once again sate the angry indentured servants until the fix is in. This will be resolved politically long before any banks fail from this little setback to the Ponzi.

You don't seriously believe this is going to stop them, do you? How many times have we seen something come along that we grasped as "The Event" (apologies to NBC) only to have that rug (apologies to Grayson) pulled out from under our feet.

I secretly (desperately) hope you are correct.

But I have spent, and continue to spend, a great deal of my time studying history. And this playbook is as old as the hills. The premise most of us use when declaring there will be a tipping point is the belief that we still live within a representative republic aka a "Democracy".

That is a tragic mistake. There was a bloodless coup some years ago, well before 2008. It was disguised as something else. Watch for my future article on this subject, coming to a theater near you.

The longer people live within "The Big Lie" the harder they will fight to stay within "The Big Lie". We must understand that the longer the lie lives, the more integrated it becomes into our own worldviews and belief systems. Once something is firmly embedded within the public myth, the more life it takes on as the "Truth".

This is well documented for those who live outside the Matrix. And completely unseen and/or unbelievable for those who live within the Matrix.

Keep hope alive CD--or you'll turn into Mako before you know it.

Just because you keep getting punched in the mouth is no reason not to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start swingly wildly all over again.

Just because the middle class has gotten anally raped every time the system approached collapse is no reason not to fight and hope for a different outcome.

I read a book once on a guy from New Jersey who ended up a park ranger for an African country.  He got told to go to a village where crocs were eating up the natives.  He discovered they were filling up water buckets at a shallow angle riverbank where the crocs were just driving by for a Happy Meal.  The park ranger fixed up a winch and pulley system underneath a tree about 200 yards upriver where the bank was 5 feet above the river.  He showed the natives how to use it, they smiled and he left.  Two months later the govt called the park ranger back out to the village cuz natives were getting eaten again.  He discovered they weren't using the pulley and asked why not.  They told him it was a longer walk, and "if it is God's will that the crocodiles eat us, then we will be eaten."  Fatalism is fatal, man.

Sir

I have complete confidence we can turn the corner.

I have no hope if we're expecting those who abuse us to stop on their own. We hold the power. Until we recognize this, not much will change because it is we who enable our tormentors. So it is we who can disable our tormentors as well.

I don't believe in practicing false hope. But I am a big advocate in honest cleared eyed hope followed by action.

Mako is doom and gloom. I am not. I have expended great energy writing about how we can work our way out of these problems. I have written very positive essays about hope and change. Maybe you would like to read them?

Step one. Look in the mirror and recognize that we have assumed a victim mentality. Is it any wonder then that we are always victims?

The "Plan" is controlled chaos as the driving force to engineer social policy. And a whole lot of looting for the storm troopers in three piece suits. Control is the ultimate currency (and aphrodisiac) at the highest levels. Everyone else a few levels below will need to be satisfied with wealth beyond imagination.

Fear is the all important controlling emotion. This isn't a new concept, but an old and cherished doctrine repeatedly used over thousands of years. State sponsored domestic terrorism (direct or indirect) at it's finest, only it's "them" and not US that engages in such things. At least that's the propaganda.

I wonder if you got junked (not that I put much credence in that anymore with the rise in drive-by's) because someone likes Fonzi, or they go to Hair Club, or other?

I think the end of the Ponzi will be assisted partly by the in-fighting between lower-level operatives (the 1-3's on your scale). As the battle appears lost, people will turn to self-preservation and use their final acts to demonstrate their 'redemption'.

So, he's probably doing this as a cheap political ploy to get re-elected, but it is this sort of act that will accelerate as the ponzi crumbles and the lower level actors want to save themselves....

Thu, 10/14/2010 - 11:54 | 649428 Cognitive Dissonance

I'd go with the Hair Club junk thesis. Never underestimate the power of the public shame of baldness for those who believe their inner power comes from hair follicles.

The mass media "beauty" propaganda isn't just exploiting women. There's a reason "Hair Club for Men" TeeVee commercials air beautiful women running this fingers through the newly rejuvenated hair of the now sexually satisfied "Hair Club for Men" clients.

Massive egos run riot and comb overs just don't cut it any more in today's world. Interestingly, for those in denial about their secret trips to the local "Hair Club" ("It's me, let me in before someone sees me out here") to even see the words "Hair Club for Men" in pubic.....er sorry...public triggers a massive Cognitive Dissonance. :>)

Probably true, however, the real social ramifications come when people (like our AZ people from the other day) say FUCK IT!! I will NOT pay anymore, no more mortgage payments. Rightly or wrongly, this may happen.

Ben can print all he wants, the economy WILL collapse if this happens, this is a once-in-a-century type event.

Thu, 10/14/2010 - 12:24 | 649541 ShaneAshton

I believe you are right.
I don't have a mortgage myself but I believe the only way to crash the system is to starve the beast.  If people started using their mortgage payments to support local business and defund all the multinationals...then the system collapses and we get to re-build locally.
however...the trick is getting people to STOP PAYING THEIR MORTGAGES....out of fear...they will continue.  Out of fear they will continue to go to work everyday (myself included) Out of fear....we will run and hide and continue to be good little sheep.
The only way is for the powerful (and by powerful i mean MENTALLY POWERFUL) send all their intent into crashing the system OR all their intent into destroying actual power players....then we might see some result.
But in reality...I think Mother Nature and the universe work on their own cycles and we just have to accept that when the crash happens....it happens.

You are right on the "things that matter". The PTB want us to believe that the only "things" that matter are just that, "things" like I-Pads and other SHIT we don't nor will we ever need.

I get sick to my stomach when I see people (let's take married couples as an example) fighting, divorcing, upsetting kids etc. over "not getting what they want" or think they "deserve" out of life in relation to material shit, a lifestyle, or status. It makes me fuckin sick because these people have been CONTAMINATED by our society and those that pull the strings to the degree that they are no longer human, just fuckin "consumers".

Well, buck stops here matey. We MUST retake control of our own, sovereign space: our mind. We must take it back from those who have for decades manipulated it.

It starts inside each of us.

Cynical omniscience may flatter the ego mightily, but does anybody stop to think about the effect it has?  When the public  starts expecting nothing to be done right, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy--why would the gov do more than the people expect???

It is likewise interesting to see a group of people who claim to see through the red-blue single party system pissing on anybody's real actions on the basis of mind-reading about his motivation and party affiliation.

When is the last time the "public expected things to be done right"? Been that way for a long time. Obama is a classic example. He convinced millions of people that he would give them more, do more for them, protect them. How's that working out?

A politician is a politician is a politician. The system doesn't allow the gov to do more than people expect. Although, I sure hope they do more hearings on steroids in baseball. I expected more out of that.

Likewise. I'm willing to give Grayson the benefit of the doubt for now and see how this all plays out. If nothing more, he did allow us all the fun of watching the Fed's brass squirm under his questioning.

Thoughts on my mortgage please:

July 2005: purchased property

August 2005: security closing date <private label not Fannie Mae loan; held in trust>

Dec. 2007: mortgage assigned from original lender to MERS

Both the county records and MERS show assignment from original lender to MERS (presumably to the trust) more than two years after the security closed.  (The lender went bankrupt in 2007 and perhaps they finally attended to the docs.)

What I am thinking....

Since the docs (presumably both mortgage and note) were delivered two years after the closing of the trust/security, the Trustee would have no standing to sue in event of non-payment.  (We are current on the loan/high credit scores.)

Just wondering if somehow holding the mortgage in the name of the original lender for two years is somehow deemed delivered to the trust for purposes of the closing of the trust.  If not, we are in the situation where no one -- not the servicer, not trust, nor original lender (they were paid by investors at trust closing) have standing to collect the mortgage payments.

Right or wrong?  What would you do?

First thing I would do for your PROTECTION, is find out WHERE and WHO has the Tiltle Deed. The one you SIGNED, and I would not give up until I got it.

Right / Wrong,?, Priority ONE for me, would be  say you have every intent on keeping it......you may pay on it this month, just as you have for 5 years, and someone can come and FORECLOSE on you!.

If they can do it to people who DO not even HAVE a Mortgage(paid/free and clear), how can you think your protected?.

"Without clear property rights, and a legal system that insists on clear proof of those rights before transferring ownership by force, the economy will fall apart"

An appropriate summary of the current situation in the US. I'm glad Grayson's sending this letter and officially standing up for property rights. To be fair, I was also once glad that he wanted to audit the Fed (speaking of property rights and our ever-so-fractionally gold-backed dollars), but that didn't turn out so well. Also, I've always been annoyed that "Life, Liberty, and Property" was changed to "Life, liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" in the Declaration of Independence. What the hell, Jefferson?

how guilty are the robo-signers themselves? you kinda know you're doing wrong, but you do it anyway because you're surrounded by a bunch of other who are doing it too?, and you need the job?, and you haven't gotten in trouble yet, so it must not be *that* wrong...

tnx, stycho - i'd read about that experiment, but had no specific reference. now i do.

there was another experiment done at a northern US school, where they basically 'star-belly sneeched' a portion of the high school population, and 'made them' elites. the results were fascinating and very unsettling.

personally, i'm not counting on generalize cultural awareness as a useful preventative measure.

Grayson is a bombastic tool, and he looks to be out of a job in a couple weeks.  He's just feeding his bloated ego.

Why is seemingly everyone on this site cheering the foreclosure snafu?  It's just going to make it take than much longer to clear the housing market.  The banks love that they don't have to foreclose... they can just keep holding those MBS's at par via mark-to-fantasy.
