The bill is all gums and no teeth.  And, by the time any 'law enforcement' officer(s) of the US Government finally gets around to "looking" at the books, they wiil be paid handsomely to overlook selected items.  There won't be much to look at which hasn't been errased or moved to a "secure" facility and labeled "National Security Classified".

Grayson is a man that said Republicans' plans for seniors was to die quickly because they don't support the public option health care boondoggle. Not exactly libertarian.

Grayson is also a pie-in-the-sky investor who got ponzi'd.

"Between 2000 and 2005, Grayson was the most frequent participant in Derivium’s “90-percent stock-loan” program, transferring about $29 million in stocks to Derivium and promptly receiving 90 percent of it – about $26 million – back in cash as “stock loans,” according to his court filings.

So Grayson spent only about $3 million out of pocket. When you include the nearly $600,000 he received back from stock loan proceeds, his net cash loss is about $2.4 million, according to court records."

The article claims he was running some money in offshore Cook Islands accounts as well.

In 92 separate transactions between November 2000 and March 2005, Grayson turned over stock worth $28.7 million to Derivium, according to his lawsuit. Grayson got $25.8 million of it back in cash.

He said he used the cash to make loans to and invest in Latin American businesses.

“There are restrictions on what you can do with borrowed money in the United States. I didn’t have that opportunity to take that money and invest in the United States,” Grayson told Local 6. “That, of course, is my preference being an American … So I had no choice but to invest it in foreign countries.”

But first, he said he transferred the cash from the stock loans to the AMG Trust he established in the Cook Islands, a South Pacific government associated with nearby New Zealand.

According to Grayson’s congressional financial disclosure statement last year, his AMG Trust held between $25 million and $50 million in assets, producing dividends and capital gains income of between $1 million and $5 million last year, and more than $5 million the previous year.

Offshore trusts like those in the Cook Islands often attract wealthy people seeking to legally shield their assets from any potential lawsuit judgments, according to experts on wealth protection.

The Cook Islands is also among 34 jurisdictions listed by the IRS as “probable locations of U.S. tax evasion.”

But Grayson said transferring the cash to the offshore trust had nothing to do with lowering his taxes. “It didn’t affect my income tax burden at all,” Grayson said. “Every penny of income to that trust is reported on my personal tax return.”

"If we open all of the discussions, the deliberations, the transactional gives and takes, what we will do is scare off capital because other governments will not deal with our Fed," Watt said.

NC has itself a new Democratic governor who is going to keep Watt's GERRYMANDERED district as is...Sadly, this guy doesn't represent the narrow band of people up I85...but the banking interests at the far southern end.  His district encompases some of the poorest areas of Charlotte and points north....y'all should know better.

I really cannot believe Watt said this in public. If I met him in person tomorrow, I would have to ask if he really said this.

I would point out the following:

1) The US dollar is the world reserve currency, foreign central banks really do not have any choice but to work with our central bank in currency swaps or interventions.

2) Sound money will be much more effective at attracting foreign capital.

Also, I would ask to what he is referring to when he says scare off capital? Is he talking about purchases of Treasuries? or other investment inflows. Specifically what flow of funds is he referring.

I was curious about the party affiliation of those voting against the amendment, so here it is:

Gwen Moore (D), Shelley Moore (R), Al Green (D), Mary Jo Kilroy (D), Charles Wilson (D), Carolyn Maloney (D) Gregory Meeks (D), Gary Ackerman (D), Brad Miller (D), Melvin Watt (D), Emanuel Clever (D), Keith Ellison (D), Stephen Lynch (D), Michael Capuano (D), Barney Frank (D), Dennis Moore (D), Andre Carson (D), Joe Donnelly (D), Bill Foster (D), Melissa Bean (D), Luis Gutierrez (D), Ron Klein (D), Jim Himes (D), Joe Baca (D), Gary Miller (R), Maxine Waters (D).

Two Republicans and the rest Democrats.  All I can say is WTF?  Maxine Waters voted against it?  Makes me wonder if this bill has a chance if Obama says "no".

It appears the two republicans you had on your list voting nay both actually voted for the Bill: http://www.ronpaul.com/2009-11-19/audit-the-fed-amendment-passes-43-26/

That would mean every republican voted for the Bill, and just some sleazeball Dems voted against. The dems who voted for ought to be applauded for doing right by the people. The others- well, they can all rot in hell for betraying the American people.

i haven't forgotten....for those who have
forgotten, the s&l crisis of the late 1980s
yielded a bumper crop of financial and sexual
porn the most egregious perpetrator of which (besides
the piece of shit who ran indymac into the
ground) was larry king - porn master extraordinaire....

larry was an officer of franklin credit union
which was raided by the fbi c. 1988 which hauled off
a mountain of porn and pictures of kids who
had been abducted all around the midwest including
boys town in good old warren buffet's home town.... the
main job of king was to embezzle money for his
extavagant lifestyle and fund the kidnappings....

these mostly boys were brain washed and sent to
washington to service leading politicians such
as george bush, jack kemp, barney frank, and loads
of other notables and not so notables....

catherine austin fitts speaks about the kemp
perversion....i had personal contact with a
high ranking bureaucrat from the democrat party
who confirmed related escapades going back to the
carter years and with which he had first hand witness (he was a participant)....his related escapades were
rampant homosexualtiy among powerful and very public
politicians largely republicans but also democrats....

one of barney's frequent slaves was
able to escape and eventually filed suit against
larry king in federal court and won.....barney frank was named
as one of his frequent "customers" - forced and
underaged of course.....

craig spence - republican lobbyist - committed "suicide" after the washington
times ran a story about naked romps through the
white house with these kids....this story was quickly squelched
but absolutely true as paul bonaccio testified....

the attorney handling the lawsuit was john
decamp who was a very respected republican
politician in nebraska....

the sex slaves were able to place daddy bush
at these sex parties....the sad thing is that
the operation still runs today....all of those
kids who were on milk cartons in the 70s/80s
were abductions by this extremely sophisticated
and well run sex ring....

i HATE barney frank for what he did to those kids....
i hate even looking at that evil fuck...i hate
every single one of those self righteous
politicians who has destroyed the lives of so
many innocent kids and most though not all were
republicans....(i am a very former reagan
republican - but no more and never again will
i vote for democrat or republican....ever)

many go around talking about who great ronald reagan was. let me tell you. he was a communist out in california and his jewish chicago mobster friends got together and decided that since his movie career was blowing majorly they could somehow use him in politics. so they thought up the idea of making him a conservative, so the conservative ronald reagan was born. this can all be read in the book , "supermob" by russo. reagan met some of the men who would help him later in life while he ran errands for them when he used to hang around the pool hall below his apartment when he when he was a young man. he followed the chicago mobsters out to LA when they decided to move out there and start the movie industry etc. he was entirely bought and paid for by the zionist lobby, aka, the jewish chicago mob or whatever you want to call it. he was a actor pure and simple. it was all a big act and so many people bought into it. there are 3 states that the jewish mob pretty well run and that is california, arizona and nevada.....ronald reagan was nothing when he went to hollywood and they made him what he was and they got him elected to the presidency, plain and simple. he was their boy from start to finish. how these men can live their lives based upon lies is beyond my comprehension but so many of them do. the bush family also comes to mind.

Grayson has a lot of hatred, unfortunately. He kind of detracts from the libertarian flair quite a bit. Does he resonate with the far left? Yes, but in the type of way that just drums up votes and money for the establishment Democrats.

Ron Paul is TOTALLY different.

Despite Grayson's faults, he was absolutely instrumental in getting the Dems to co-sponsor the Audit the Fed Bill.  Without Grayson, this would likely have been a Republican bill and never made it through the House at all.  Grayson spoke with about every Dem Congressman he could urging them to support a "libertarian" bill.  They wouldn't have touched a Ron Paul bill with a 10-ft pole otherwise.

While everybody seems to think that the dollar decline is due to fed actions and carry trade, they seem to forget that it has been going on for over 8-10 years now. Granted, last year currency swap and current carry trade is contributing to that decline. But that was not the reason for the last almost decade of dollar decline. How about trade deficit?how do you expect the dollar to hold its value while the country is a net importer and huge debtor at the same time?I think dollar will continue to depreciate even if fed brings interest rates to equality with other major industials,if for nothing, but for the continous trade deficit(albeit with a less vengenace due to the fact that trade deficit has been cut in half). So where is the balance?YOu don't want strong dollar which might only expand the trade deficit and export whatever little left of industry. And at the same time, you don't want a spiraling down dollar which might lead to hyperinflation and bring the country to Zimbawean level. Anybody with a reasnable DXY modelling for the us might get a Nobel prize(lol).

A bloc of African American House Democrats, angry and worried that not enough is being done about high unemployment by the administration, forced the postponement of a much-anticipated vote Thursday on comprehensive financial regulation reform.

The Financial Services Committee had finished hearing amendments around 3 p.m. and recessed, planning to return at 4 for a final vote on the package. But during the break, some of the Democrats on the committee pigeonholed Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) and told him they wouldn't vote for the bill because of the deepening problem of unemployment in their districts.

That is what is so stupid - they don't get it.  It is the Fed that is CAUSING the high unemployment.

The Fed is pursuing strategies today that are meant to recapitalize the banks, unemployed serfs be DAMNED.

Only after the banks are recapitalized (which could take years) will the Fed worry about unemployment.

Think about it - are higher or lower house prices good for the working class?  Wouldn't the working class be better off if foreclosures were allowed to happen and money was spent renovating these houses, instead of current owners letting them go to crap?

I could go on, but the bottom line is the Fed's policies today are hurting, not helping, the employment situation.

Actually I doubt they do get it. If you can believe Ron Paul's book, he goes on about how few people in Congress have any familiarity with what the Fed does, how money is created, basic economic principles like inflation, etc...

Add on to that, I think many citizens who are hardcore Democrats will tend to go along with someone like Barney Frank just because he's a key Democrat. At least that's the sense I'm getting.

Maxine Waters' husband is a stockholder and former director of OneUnited Bank, and the bank's executives were major contributors to her campaigns. In September 2008, Waters arranged meetings between U.S. Treasury Department officials and OneUnited Bank, so that the bank could plead for federal cash. It had been heavily invested in Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, and its capital was "all but wiped out" after the U.S. government took them over. The bank did secure $12 million in Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) money.[25][26] The matter is currently being investigated by the House Ethics Committee.[27]

Working Joe Baca voted no?  That just can't be.

Barney Frank voted no?  I thought he finally grew a spine.

Maxine Waters, that two faced lying sack of integrity voted no?  Now that I believe.

I am thinking that this will turn into a very large scandalous party, with Grayson being the grand marshall.  All these banking "bunk buddies" will be politically tarred-and-feathered.  It is going to suck being on the wrong side of this vote.  I wish all the sell-outs (those voting nay), the best of luck explaining to their constituents how being on the take was in the best interest of the people.

Everyone knows that Maxine Waters, a member of the House Financial Services Committee, arranged a meeting in September between Treasury officials and the chief executive of OneUnited, one of the country's largest black-owned banks, which requested $50 million in special bailout funds.  Waters didn't tell the treasury that her husband, Sidney Williams, served on the bank's board of directors and has owned at least $250,000 in stock in the institution.

Do you REALLY think that this thing is going to get all the way through to a full vote of the House and then over to the Senate?

Queen Bee "Bawney Fwank" has assured his paymasters that this thing will never get to the floor regardless of the committee vote - remember, he has Pelosi's word on this.

And even if it does get out of the House, do you really think the Senate will go along, where Chris Dodd and the Ben Nelson, the Senator from Berkshire Hathaway/Squid, stand ready to put the spike in this once and for all?

Here's what I really think. I think we have a situation where the minority wants to take away the rights of the majority. So the universe will try it's hardest to mix and manipulate a situtation where the majority is beating up on a minority as a guise to show that the minority knows best. Which is why i'm really careful to keep a close eye out for anything that resembles said tactic.

Keep your eye on the ball.

Unfortunately this is as far as the bill will proceed. Nancy "stretch" Pelosi would have to schedule it for a vote. Which she wont and even if she did it would never pass that liberal sheet hole. If it did pass it would have to pass the Senate and Harry "The Body" Reid would never bring it to the floor. If he did it would need 60 votes which it will never get.

Even if it did pass the Senate it would then have to be hammered out in conference provided the Senate made and material changes to the bill. Then the final bill would have to pass both houses again.

After all that and against all those odds then the Obumbler would have to sign it, which he won't. He is as far left as every black congressman on that committee that voted against it today.

Sorry, that's just the way it is.

I sent this to my House Snake Ron Klein:

Message Text: Representative Klein, You are my representative but you do not represent me. You are for taxpayer handouts to banks and against auditing a criminal enterprise known as the Federal Reserve. I know that there are powerful bankers, finance people and hedge funds in our district that you also must represent but they are not the majority nor representative of the whole district. Your district is suffering through a terrible recession and you play the Washington game for handouts. We the people, want you to stop playing that game and change the game. Get rid of the special interests, get rid of the pay for play politics, get rid of the secret banking cabal destroying our economy. Support Ron Paul and Alan Grayson in bringing real transparency to govt. Start representing citizens and taxpayers while you still can because I believe another election is coming soon and I know what I am urging everyone to do in the primary: Register democratic and vote out the incumbent.

I live in MA and Stepehen Lynch is my congressman. He usually doesn't vote lock step with the rest of the delegation. He voted against TARP last fall. I've been calling and sending emails concerning Ron Paul's bill to audit the fed. If anyone is thinking of contacting their congressman, the most effective way is to call or call and email and write a letter. Anyhow, Mr. Lynch is going to hear it from me.

I'm embarassed to have a congressman like Frank from my state. Recently, his boyfriend was arrested for growing pot up in Maine, from Barney's house there. Frank's response was that he didn't know what pot looked like, he wouldn't be able to recognize any plant species. Meanwhile, he is pushing for the legalization of marijuana. I'm not saying he's wrong on that issue, but he is a fat, conniving, lying, piece of shit.

Just how friggin' stupid can we get?

A vote yes is a BAD THING as the bill was gutted and has no authority or penalties and TONS of exclusions. Get it? A vote yes seals the fate of audit process. A vote yes is a terrible thing. A vote yes tables any real change. Read the damn bill!!

Many (most) here do not understand the irony of this post....

Folks, a vote YES is a bad thing as this bill is being rejected by its own author as having been gutted.

Lets repeat that for those just waking up. A YES vote is a vote to now table anything and everything important in real reform.

There may actually be some folks that voted NO, because they understood this.

Net, net??

This is nothing to celebrate.

This is another point of high failure.

This does not in any way materially impact all that we would wish the Fed to stop doing.

Good to know my congresscritter (Lynch, MA-9) is bought and paid for, like the rest of the MA delegation, evidently.

And perfectly safe - he'll be unopposed, again, next year.

Welcome to the People's Republic of Massachusetts.

Anyone wanting Grayson to run for President/VP need to check themselves and quickly.  That guy is a clown.  Have you seen how he has behaved during some of his "speeches"?  The guy is mentally unstable and I hope the voters of central Florida throw him out of his ass.  He's a lunatic.

As for the voters, I'll give everyone one guess as to who are the Democrats and who are the Republicans.

I think there must be some confusion here. The Watt amendment, while suggesting that it would add to Fed oversight actually made the Fed even more opaque. The Paul Grayson amendment, which is what we see the voting list above for, restores the gutted portions of the original HR 1207 back to the bill post-committee gutting.

So no, the passage of the Paul Grayson amendment is not a bad thing, it's a good thing because it brings back the full power of the original HR 1207

What disappoints me is that Iowa Reps apparently were all in the shitter during the vote. What an easy way to oppose a bill....just don't be there. It also gives them an out when called on the carpet about being in favor of or opposed to a particular bill or amendment. They can just play the absence card and plead stupid.

Judd Gregg was just on CNBC and said this bill is just populist bullshit and should never get through.  He said the independent Fed was the way it should be.  Offered to go on and debate Paul.  They asked him if all 300 sponsors were wrong, and he said they were.

Grayson is my congressman in Orlando. He's an absolute lunatic whom i disagree with on about everything. However, I'm considering voting for him for the sole reason that he has made it a high priority to audit the Fed.

"Judd Gregg was just on CNBC" - Shocka! Remember, it was Republican Senator Aldrich who spearheaded the Jekyll Island abomination that Wilson obliged. Fun fact! That top Republican was Nelson Rockefeller's grandpappy. The "independent Fed" is a lie from from the depths of the Bankers Circle of Hell.

Warren Buffett doesn't want Congress to "fool around" with the Federal Reserve's political independence, because it could lead to "a lot of mischief."

Our Becky Quick asked him about the topic during an on-camera 'walk-and-talk' conversation as Buffett and Bill Gates toured Columbia University's Manhattan campus on November 12 before taping the 90-minute CNBC Town Hall Event Warren Buffett & Bill Gates: Keeping America Great.

This 'web extra' video clip was not included in the program and is exclusive to CNBC.com:

Becky: Hey Warren, you said you had thoughts on the Dodd legislation, that --  We spoke this morning with Ric Mishkin who teaches here, the former Fed governor.  And he's very worried about the Fed’s independence and not only the (Connecticut Senator Chris) Dodd legislation that’s out there but the (Texas U.S. Representative) Ron Paul legislation.  Just things that would take power away from the Federal Reserve...  Do you worry about that?

Buffett: Well, I think there is nothing more important in the economic future of the country than to have an independent Fed.  And I think that’s been demonstrated over the years.  I think it was demonstrated even particularly last fall.  But we do not want to fool around with the independence of the Fed.

Becky: Do you think the system is perfectly fine?  I mean, there are people who say it is an antiquated system anyway.

Buffett: Well, perhaps the regional banks and all that sort of thing, was better adapted to 1911 or something.   I’m not sure you need somebody reporting in from Omaha to tell them what pigs are doing, you know, or hogs…  (Laughs)  But in terms of its fundamental mission as a central bank --

Becky:  Yeah.

Buffett:  I think it’s done a good job over the years. I think it’s had good leadership most of the time.  I think it has terrific leadership now.  And I think that curbing the independence of the Fed could lead to a lot of mischief.

US Congresswoman Shelly Moore Capito-R WV-02 office (202) 225-2711 http://capito.house.gov/index.cfm?p=Offices and several other websites http://market-ticker.org/archives/1646-PaulGrayson-Amendment-Passes-In-Committee.html record her rollcall vote as YAY. Capito was an original signatore and co-sponsor of the original HR1207 Paul audit-the-fed bill. I cannot locate the 'official' government rollcall website (surprised?) but please investigate the offical record and make corrections to the above list if necessary. Her vote should not be misrepresented. Thank you,
