Guest Post: Dylan Ratigan - "What I Read"

Dylan Ratigan: What I Read
How do other people deal with the torrent of information that pours
down on us all? What sources can't they live without? We regularly
reach out to prominent figures in media, entertainment, politics, the
arts and the literary world, to hear their answers to these questions.
This is drawn from a conversation with Dylan Ratigan, the host of MSNBC's The Dylan Ratigan Show and author of the forthcoming book Greedy Bastards.
So the way my world works is I wake up and I check my BlackBerry, which
is a uranium mine of information. The reason it's so rich with
information is I have the benefit of all my legacy brokerage and
financial research coming into it, I have all the current NBC clippings
and headlines (from tsunami coverage to Casey Anthony to the White
House) and I have my Twitter feed, which is probably the best monitor of
what's breaking. For my first pass, I look at The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times
and all the major news organizations' Twitter feeds. On the second
pass, I'm looking at the financial universe: the price of oil, currency
pricings, etc. Then I'll log onto my computer and check the homepages of
The Huffington Post, Politico, Zero Hedge, The New York Times and Financial Times and I'll read Naked Capitalism just to see what Yves Smith
is saying about the banking system. I don't subscribe to any print
media. I wouldn't read a newspaper now unless you put a gun to my head
and even then I would really try to negotiate with you. It's not that I
reject the content, it's that I reject the format.

But.. BUT.. BUT! what about abortion?
you mean that really doesnt matter?
are you saying that both parties work together to steal money from "We the Sheepish Consumers" and thats all that matters?
But Obama is "Change We Can Believe In"!

A Lobby Whore is a Lobby Whore is a Lobby Whore!
Death of America Movie http://t.co/wpZqChk
I don't believe that Ratigan reads 10% of what he claims. If he did, it would consume 200% of his time and turn him into a zombie. He is just trying to appear 'with it'.
+1
Anyone got the video handy of Ratigan melting down (on CNBS) after Congress voted NO on the first TARP/STIMULUS/QE/BRIBE ???
My memory ain't that short, Dylan boy...
I also have a vivid memory of Dylan and Maria "woo-hoo"ing on the trading floor when the fed cut rates in 'response" to Cramer's "they know nothing" shill rant.
Funny story, the S&P 500 was over 1500, gold was under $800.
Who's woo-hooing now?
Don't know this guy, and my eyeballs wouldn't touch any US msm with a bargepole so it'd be extremely unlikely I'd ever watch him anyway. Like most of his ilk, he seems very full of himself even to the extent of telling people what he reads, wrongly assuming that people with lives of their own would be remotely interested. Other than being surprised that some Americans can actually read, my boredom threshold was breached beyond tolerance halfway through this article.
If he sees infinite potential in himself, then he sees a rather limited version in his audience. If he thinks all the default doom and gloom is bullshit because the bonds' yields have not crawled anywhere beyond 3%, and things are just hunky dory because Bernanke can always print more to satify any debt, the ceiling of which he feels is merely imaginary anyway, without giving even the tiniest thought to the consequences of such crazy behaviour, then his entire horizon of experiences are limited to the regurgitated, self-reinforcing Skittle island version of reality - The kind that has a rude awakening as all the msm did in 2008. Patting himself on the back for recognizing the stupidity of partisan politics is not even his saving grace. It is his smug assuredness on the soundness of his observations which tells me to stay clear of his opinions for which I am truly grateful.
I watch RT, BBC, Al Jazeera, and read the broadsheets in the UK. I don't expect anyone to be remotely interested.
YHC, you (and others) obviously did not know – more likely don’t care – that this is part of a regular series from The Atlantic. Peace. Life's too short, stop the hate.
+1 Correct. But thanks for the info.
You should add this site to your reading list.

I'm glad that he has been keeping up on Casey Anthony. Now I know I can completely disregard him.
"I am CNBC." Oops. Sorry about that, Dylan.
Seriously, I started to post something pithy but with all the hate constantly spewed around here (it is brain bleeding to read ZH comments anymore) I'm taking the high road. Dylan, enjoy the freedom to write all you want, what you want, when you want. I don’t get it but if anyone wants to know what you read and why, then power to 'em.
As far as Peter Schiff…. You don’t own him anything. He might actually have an audience for his arguments if he would stop kissing his own ring between sentences.
the medium is crashing and it places full page ads, in its own medium, as the proferred solution to those remaining. sound familiar?
Quantum Controllers: Caesar, God, Constitutions, & Currency
Caesar, the corporation of corporations, is a simple stupid derivative system designed to generate gravity, by feeding it currency / dc current through a dc regulator. We pay the legacy interests to remain inert, in return for their previously productive investments, which become sunk costs in an accounting sink. We cannot pay the middle class to remain inert, let alone counterproductive, under equilibrium conditions.
Within the semi-neutral dc regulator, specific powers granted, is a recursive virtual ac return path for backlash, those powers not specifically granted, which may be regulated by perception, the looking glass. Depending upon the amount of gravity you need, you adjust glass elasticity, with science. The more invested in capturing the electron, which the universe will not allow, the less science understands and the bigger the backlash.
Religion, defining God as a derivative for subsequent generations, sets up the dc side. Seeking God as integral, with an increasingly open mind and the liberty to do so, sets up the ac side, catapulting each new generation of navigators on the event horizon. Freedom of religion depends upon whether it is defined by the Court, in public, or by the individual in the privacy of home. The corporation – public, private, and non-profit, is the Court’s religion, which grounds it in the past. Governments are like diapers, or training wheels.
Government was specifically not granted the power to define religion in the home, but it always seeks to do so by making the law inelastic toward that end, ensuring that the cocoons are discarded in waves, as populations outgrow them in quantum leaps. Scapegoat turnover does not directly regulate the system; elasticity of the system does, and that depends upon individuals in the minority fighting for the right to define God for themselves.
The balance between desire to resist change and change is constant, due to the laws of physics. The only question is the leverage developed by the pry bar. The value of currency is a perception. The “reality” depends upon the relationship between the property and productivity economies, who is doing the measuring. Patience determines the amount of gravity ready for deployment. Intelligence, the distillation, determines its use. “The strong take from the weak. The smart take from the strong.” The intelligent give back to the weak.
If you want gravity, choose a spouse that is a system zombie. That has been going on for generations, and you see the result, a massive pry bar. Think of the planet, how it actually functions in the solar system, as a cocoon, a foundation for a launch platform to build your future. When these planets line up, the universe is going to measure you.
Politics is an aggregate of local behavior, with a feedback signal, how you choose to raise your children, or don’t. The majority hands its children over to Caesar automatically, as it focuses on avoiding the past, created for the purpose, in the rear-view mirror, instead of working to expand the event horizon. The zombies listen to God, Caesar. For many atheists, money and what they “think” it represents is God, leading them to consume themselves with trivialities. Learning is integral; knowing is derivative.
Switch the current when you have sufficient gravity to reach the desired orbit. It’s not called limelight by accident. What happens when you encase something in lime? The sun sheds light on the darkness. It’s like a log on the fire. If you dropped all the planets into the sun, what would happen? What would happen if you fired it up with asteroids and then dropped the planets in one at a time? Why does the universe like helices? Why do planets appear to be orbiting in a self-governing fashion? Is the Fed integral or derivative?
Physics is physics no matter where/when you are in the universe. Architects enable children, all children on the event horizon, which the zombies cannot understand, because they are too busy efficiently chasing the limelight, which is why Caesar implodes every time. Adjust your controller accordingly.
Electrons are attracted by a circuit that serves their purpose, which Caesar is incapable of building. No motor, no economy, and the location of property is irrelevant under that condition. The planet can change the course of water. The number of people on the event horizon depends upon you, free will, which is a grant from God, not Government. Government is not the solution; its implosion is already self-catalytic. Recognition is a function of location relative to the event horizon.
So, the klepto-oligarchy has induced a short circuit and working citizens are ground?
Blah, blah, blah. This guy loves the sound of his own voice more than flies love cow dung. Freakin' arrogant, too.
My girlfriends ex is named Rhatigan so fuck him.
and another vote (rarely opine here) for the point DylanR is a self-promoting freak ..... surprised so many here actually 'applaud' this 'progressive (is that the term now?)' huckster. Come on man ...... Fast Money was terrible .... I felt bad for the 'panelists' (presumably they were getting paid & notoriety for their firms) since the 'shows' concept was so blatantly stupid & flawed
