Keep at Goldman Ms. Tavakoli and know that  you have many supporters.

There is no need for anyone to apologize to Lloyd Blankfein for calling him a hypocrite. Blankfein has stated that he wishes Goldman's participation in the FDIC TLGP was zero, yet continues to suck on that big fat US taxpayer backstopped $22 billion.

You're a hypocrite Blankfein...payoff the FDIC backstopped bonds and go out into the capital markets and borrow like a big boy.

Concur.  It sucks when the object of our attention and the structure we operate within requires explanations, clarifications and to generally gets us to react rather than act.  I am pleased that Janet was able to keep up the tune during the distraction.

At what point DH did this ditty start hitting closer to home?  It seems like just a couple of months ago I remember spinning the vinyl at the farm..

121344....

as a rule, i don't bother to respond to racist trolls.  whether one is jewish, christian, muslin, chinese, italian, irish catholic (i'm one of those), ad infinitum, there are good people in all those groups and each group has some bad apples.

the beauty of the free speech portion of Amend #1 is it allows cementheads like you the opportunity to prove repeatedly just how dumb some people are.

I hope that someday you find intellect.

Watch that potential right shoulder formation on the SPX. They've already had two key reversals up at 1080-1100. Perhaps they can't take a hint.

You just gotta love Janet....  nothing like getting poked in the eye - bein' told by a pretty gal "I'm sorry" - then getting poked again, only this time harder!!...

I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.

Some folks just cannot but help to stand and in the face of everything say; "This sucks".  ZH appears to be a place were folks of a similar disposition to that one congregate.  WhoT!

Thanks Tyler, Marla, the whole ZH team and everyone (yes, even the lurkers) who help make this place so special.

BTW, most excellent sentiment Books.

Tavakoli: Viniar did not consider a scenario where AIG and the Fed might consider a partial payment...

Why would he?!? Wasn't Goldman in the habit of telling Paulson what to do?

It seems Goldman was just about the only one thinking they would be paid in full during one of the most frightening periods in modern history.

Any sane person or company was running for the bomb shelter yet Goldman was expecting nothing less than full payment? I wonder why?

Fertile minds might have some ideas. I'll shut up and put my gas mask back on. Someone just farted in the bomb shelter and it's getting a little too thick in here.

that's a pretty weak-ass "apology" if I've ever seen one.  I'm curious why Janet seems to be of the opinion that Goldman is the only firm engaged in semi-shady dealings.  Haven't we seen over the past few years (or decades, as it were) that certain behaviors, especially when unchecked, run rampant street-wide?

CD - I postulate that one must keep the tension roughly equal on all the spokes of the wheel for it to turn properly.

Besides, I would much rather listen to him sizzle and pop...  I do what I must to avoid those pesky things, but I will deal make no mistake.  Even at 4:20.

Punks that attempt to shout obscenities at passer by need to be dealt with on a neighborhood basis.

I know Miles and I agree with you. The fact that the poster is registered and thus his history of comments can be viewed means he needed to be responded to. Anon's aren't worth the effort.

But it was a wonderful opportunity to kill two birds with one stone by making a pun on your wonderfully insulting abbreviation (Anal) of the poster's ID (Anal_yst) and unfortunately you were in the line of fire. In fact, I needed you to make it work.

But I did place a smiley face at the end to show good will. ;)  :)

Why isn't there a push to purge the Squid from all gov't ? They don't need more regulation, they need to be removed from regulatory/policy influence , anything less is just chit chat.

"jew mafia" and "homo" are not beliefs or opinions, they are slurs. They have no place in a reasoned analysis or an exchange of ideas, which is what most of us come here for. I'm not calling for this inarticulate grunt to be silenced - if he has an actual point to make, let him by all means make it, using what limited intellectual skills he apparently possesses to do so. As for his childish name-calling, however, I say to him "take it somewhere else. Oh, and fuck you, moron."

There is respectful and even heated disagreement over opinion and then there is racist hate mongering and ad hominem attacks. While I can't always describe the difference between the two, I know it when I see it.

Ad hominem attacks have only one intent and it isn't to further a discussion or to express an opinion as the word "opinion" is generally accepted by the public at large.

I have gone to war and suffered 100% permanent and total disability to among other things protect fools and idiots right to be so.  (especially since I visit those places frequently)  However, there is a big difference between the exercise of ones right to be stupid while being responsible for ones stupidity and not.  IF the object was to espouse a position separate from the fraudulent or even along side of the fraudulent.. ok.  I may not like it, but I am in my position having sacrificed all except life to protect that.  WHEN the fraudulent process becomes a stand alone feature I will go to town.

In its simplest, IF Anon had simply posed the concepts in the form of a question rather than in the form of a stand alone declarative statement I would remain silent and move along.  I refer you to the following:

GSAMP bonds are shit, so speaketh the truth-seekers at Moodys (etc).  How's that for the majority hindsight opinion?

For the above comments on UBS...that firm is just laughable how hideous their controls have been.  Also, Credit Suisse had rogue brokers selling auction-rate bonds to unknowing investors.
