Gulf Oil Spill: Mission Accomplished or Ongoing Crisis?

George Washington's picture

Washington’s Blog

The corporate media has almost entirely stopped covering the Gulf oil spill.

Many
have tried to say that the effects of the spill are not nearly as bad
as feared, and that everything is pretty much cleaned up and back to
normal.

But today, it is widely being reported that there are currently massive stretches of weathered oil spotted in the Gulf of Mexico .

And websites like Florida Oil Spill Law (FOSL) have tirelessly been reporting on the Gulf oil spill this whole time.

To give an example of the ongoing crisis in the Gulf, here's a roundup of some of the top stories from FOSL from the past 3 days:

In related news, the government - always eager to immediately get to the bottom of what is really going on and then to fully publicize the results - has sent crucial Gulf samples to be analyzed in a lab . . . in Poland
(all of the American labs are apparently busy testing the toxicity of
hinky mortgages, mortgage backed securities, CDOs and naked CDSs). And
the result will be shipped back by slow boat: NOAA isn't expecting
results back until the end of the year.

Anyone watch Rubicon?

Occasionally some information is allowed to slip through the cracks, Maxx Headroom for example and it's evil corporation message. 24 and some aspects of the various conspiracies.

And Rubicon.

Not only does the show mention the spill but seems to tie it to the larger conspiracy, well at least the catalytic act.

You had me at "I'm bleeding from my anus, too".

An important inclusion by the way -- as the "I'm bleeding from my vagina" bit seemed a tad inconsequential.

Actually, she had a hysterectomy years ago, so it shouldn't have happened.

Obama said it was over, no oil!

It reminds me about Bush saying "Mission accomplished".

Thanks for reminding us.

"Mission Accomplished"

Depends on what the definition of Mission is...

Yes, thank you for this.  I blame myself also for the fact of not paying attention to this fiasco.  Those stories are saying what I've said earlier this summer, and that is by 2011 we are going to find out that the gulf and the people living on the gulf coast will start to massively get sick.

I look at it in macro view - that such ecological disasters mean that USA is increasingly socialistic/communistic - look at how Russia and other countries were so heavily polluted because the idea of tort law and private property rights were trampled on or non-existent.

The implications (assuming I am right) are staggering - that we are little better than Russians in Brezhnev-era USSR or Chinese during mid-80s China.

thank you so much for continuing to report on the criminality of the mass murderer obama....it is an outrage that these people are suffering because of the murderous ways of the usa government....

fuck obama, fuck the oil companies.....i eagerly await the return of yahushua to punish this wickedness....only a sociopathic kenyan born monster would turn the other eye by shipping the samples to poland...that is the utmost in contempt.

Dude, you've really got to stop waiting for your imaginary friend to turn up and fix things for you! Either get active or get out of the way.

B.P. is now entering into the Tijuana two step phase of their Dancing with the stars routine while poor ole Chevron is still trying to get the hang of the Ecuador's version of the "I didn't do it" cha cha cha; 17 Billion and counting on them paying off on their court judgment that they swore to abide by the decision.

Lets hear it for the industry's accountability.  Milestones

Thanks GW--

The handling of the Gulf Oil spill has proven to me that corporations have captured our public servants.  Which means they are now private servants, to the corporations.

We're f***ed.  Corporations don't care about you.  They only care about profit.  Corporations should NEVER be allowed anywhere near public policy.

GW, please continue the Crusade, for the MSM has been compromised..."all is well in River City, Maude."

"NOAA isn't expecting results back until the end of the year."

How very convenient.  In the meantime, it be fuel aplenty should the Ruskies shut down the gas pipelines on the Poles.  Never let a crisis go to waste.

And "criminal" used to be hyperbole.  The only thing disspating is the news' attention.  How very fucking convenient.  When is it we vote again?
