These sites have always been vulnerable... it's just a lot more profitable (and safer) to not advertise your crimes. It's interesting that defacing has gotten more traction recently. The professionals who don't make their crimes known are still up to orders of magnitude more break-ins and theft than what gets reported.

The greek government is going to be kicked out eventually, the people just have to get mad enough to doit.
I have family in Greece, many of them in city jobs, they have been working for 6 + months without pay and people just don't want to quit because there is no work overthere, they don't want to quit their jobs and "risk" not getting payed the money that the city/states owe them, its very tragic overthere.
Germany doesn't want to bail out greece, and trust me the REAL PEOPLE of Greece don't want the Bailout, because they know that none of it will trickle down to them so that they can actually pay their bills, Greece is going to default, its inevitable because the Government has sucked the people dry and there probably isn't any paychecks floating around never mind Tax Revenue, they could raise taxes to 150% but no one has any earnings to be taxed anyway so it would be pointless, at this point the Greek government is just a elite class in greece because they are the only ones with income of any kind, (be it Bailouts or not), essentially the Government is corrupted to the core and just a giant scam / fraud with the purpose of spending bailout money/tax payer money on personal expenses/luxury... the government officials overthere are living like kings at the expense of the peoples stomachs being empty.... Crete is having an especially hard time.... no one has work and there simply isn't any money in circulation...
The same thing is happening to America slowly, eventually the IMF will come here and clear us all out too.

This is all interesting. I am ambivalent about the recent hacks. However, the hacks do not seem to really be serving a useful purpose other than the clout they gain from being successful.
If they really wanted to be productive how about releasing information that should have been available through government transparency.
Fact is that just about every 'group' is engaged in hacking, whether it is the government or any other entity.
The downside here is that there is a risk that the internet will become more controlled and regulated like everything else, which is sad and pathetic.
If you own a computer or server, then be responsible and take the time to protect your systems. No system is inpenetrable, but there are more than enough steps you can take to make it very challenging and not worth the time to break into your system.
Bigger the challenge, bigger the reward.
