HAL 9000 Readies for Obama's Re-Coronation

RobotTrader's picture

Classic whipsawing everywhere today in order to get the bewildered herd confused and nervous before Obama's big speech tonight.  Odds are high that due to Obama's record low popularity and the collapse in employment data, the O-Team will pre-program HAL to launch stocks in order to avoid public embarrassment and humiliation tomorrow.

One can only speculate, but due to the "resilience" of the XLF today and the wildly successfull 10-year auction, the team will be primed to goose consumer sentiment by attempting to explode stocks up tomorrow.  Anything other than a new breakout in stocks will be another sign of a colossal failure in the administration's policies.

HAL is now giving orders to spool up the Atomic Particle Accelerator (aka Goldman Prop Desk):

More clues are out there today, such as the continued ramping of various consumer stocks such as Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.  I vividly remember being in high school, watching Kathie Lee, the original stick-armed Supermodel, starring in those TV ads for the former NCL...

Nothing to do now but to watch and wait.  Meanwhile, I've been working on some "Extreme Makeovers" for various CNBC anchorettes.

Of course, "Bathtub" Becky Quick will not have to do anything, now that she's married to some head honcho over at NBC now, so job security is pretty much assured for now.  But just in case the husband happens to invest in the wrong hedge fund and lose his fortune, there is always Plan B:

Before:

After:

Yeah, bought some of that IAG I missed the other day.

If the breakout fails, I'm out.  Otherwise, I think its the beginning of a huge move.

Lots of volume came into that sector on the breakout.

I also got long a huge amount of energy stocks a few days ago, as it looks like Wm. O'Neil will be screeching about his "Pots and Pans" pattern very soon...

50-day and 200-day about to cross...

And take a look of these energy junkers taking off...

I'm actually more bullish on oil than gold right now.

Let's bet on what the big O will cover!
a) Health Insurance as a constitutional right
b) Less people losing their job than expected
c) Less people losing their homes than expected
d) Great success in general
e) Despite huge progress, lot's of work to be done

I believe we can.. or ELSE.

p.s. "Reuters -

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Only 12 percent of U.S. homeowners eligible for loan modifications under the Obama administration's housing rescue plan have had their mortgages reworked, and millions more foreclosures are coming, the Treasury Department said on Wednesday.

A Treasury report showed 360,165 people had their monthly payments reduced through August, up from 235,247 through July, but a senior Treasury official conceded much more must be done to soften the impact of a severe and prolonged housing crisis."

I mentioned the Japanese lost decade because they as well tried to do everything to pump up their bad loans. Instead of digesting those for 2 -4 years, it took them over a decade to work over bad loans.

So it is not about the name but about failed method of addressing the problem. I must agree though, at least 12 years (3 presidential elections) might be lost.

What do you make of the following:

"...a substantial portion of 30-day delinquencies became current.

The balance of 30-day delinquencies plunged to $5.23bn from $11.24bn in June, but all other delinquency categories rose in the month. (order of changed from article)

Nearly $4.8bn loans sponsored by General Growth Properties (GGP) returned to current payment status following a 30-day delinquent status..."

Do I read this right? Did CMBS drop by 5.2 billion, 428 billion attributable to bankrupt GGP? What dat about?

Off topic and shamlessly plugging my ideas:

You connected the CERN particle accelerator, using superconductors, somehow to a supercomputer. The connection is deeper since there is a technology to make supercomputers with - yes - superconductors. It is not being used right now commercially except a few products here and there that dont do any computing. I know since I am doing research on that currently. Clock speeds are ~10x faster than current tech in a realistic case. Single logic blocks going to 700GHz reported.

If any of you guys have a million or ten with an idea for a startup, reply here. I finish my PhD on that topic in 5-6 months and, since I will then be defaulting to NINJA, will be available for anything.

But I will not immigrate to the US unless your Constitution is brought back.

With love from Nederland.

Won't need superconductors once they start fabricating computer circuits with diamonds. Not just any kind of diamonds, but diamonds grown in high heat low pressure ovens where they grow the crystal lattice atom by atom.

Diamonds dissipate heat faster than any known substance and reduce charge leakage. Once the system is in place will probably be manipulated using laser light due to the unique ability of the diamond lattice to trap light.

By the time you get the capital to kick off your startup you'll be as obsolete as the computer on my desk.

Your best bet is to convince someone to build you a factory in outer space to take advantage of growing crystal with near zero defects compared to what can be grown here on earth. Good luck.

Field theories are half the story, Particle theories are the other half. They just can't figure out how to mash them up. Theres two forces in the universe. The magnetic force. We have never seen a pure magenetic force but in the purest state we know of it falls off at distance cubed rate meaning it's very localized without much reach. The pure electric force we have never seen but interacting with the magnetic force it falls off at distance squared. It sort of implies that electric force exists everywhere all at once in equal distribution and is warped by the magenetic force which exists almost nowhere and with great intensity. We only know of middle grounds of the extremes and magnetic fields we know of are not even part of the extreme. Neither is massless particles which are really a trick on time space. They have mass but they are so spread out over such a wide area they seem to behave as if they do not. We just don't really have any instruments big enough to stick under them and get a measurement. But for the most part we have only lived in the fused up electromagnetic region of it all with some slightly confused blunderings into the high speed electrical region and we still have NO clue about magnetism.

The collider is basically harmless. It's simply butterfly collecting. Now isotopes theres where you can get in some real trouble. There's isotopes of helium that have ungodly heat conduction properties. Brown's gas HHO welding gas makes use just the super small ratio of rare hydrogen particles that people are always trying to use for cold fusion.

Plus you got people. You can feed 2 people the same energy and they can constitute differently, think different things, walk differently and you can't explain it with just the ordering and arranging of genetics.

Plus if the sun goes splat. Whenever you take a genetic material and expose it to various radiations it can cause twisting of the light patterns. Odd that we are constructed of such polarizing material idn't it.

Having only a very superficial understanding of particle physics at present... it lies firmly in the realm of my known unknowns as Rummy would put it.

As I watch and wait for this slow motion train wreck of an economic 'CAT'astrophie to unfold I think I just might try to bring myself up to speed on this.

Could be a great mental exercise.

Thanks for assuring me that the collider is nothing but a harmless toy... now I can get back to spitting some photons!

So, we are going to expand medical coverage to everyone, the quality of healthcare is going to go up, and it's going to cost less?

Whatever.

Healthcare reform is going to be the supreme cluster f.  The real issues of costly healthcare have yet to be addressed......tort reform, pharmaceutical reform, changing the american mindset & expectations on the level of medical care provided to the elderly (I'm not talking 'death squads', I'm talking about not having 85 year olds on ventilators, etc.).  Don't expect any action of these issues anytime soon.

I believe the largest underlying problem with the major economies around the world is that an aging population is extremely costly.  These costs have always been underestimated.  The way governments have dealt with it is by having big ponzi schemes robbing from future generations.    Older life expectancies is a relatively new phenomena.  It was only in the early 1900's when life expectancies started going up significantly.  The current expenditures for the elderly are unsustainable.  Politicians will always kick this can down the road.

need to have a little faith in things you can't see. remember, government can dictate costs.  This means:

It won't cost a thing, they can make doctors work for free. Afterall, this is life and death we're talking about here.  And providers don't need to make a profit. They do this out of the goodness of their hearts.  You think that the people who become physicians have any other than sentimental motivation to study while all the kids are out at the bar, work ridiculous hours, expose themselves to outrageously dangerous pathogens, and pay exorbitant malpractice insurance premiums? Stop! They're saints, and all this new plan will do is ask them to prove it once and for all.

We all KNOW they don't want anything but to burden themselves with the service of other people with almost no personal benefit other than maybe a scrap of food or a pat on the back now and again.  I'll bet after a few years of doctors going on foodstamps, we'll have more med students than ever.

Now those equipment manufacturers and drug developers, also, purely unselfish public (soon to be civil) servants.

Remember, we have wonderfully successful programs that have similar methods, like minimum wages, rent control, and lets not forget medicare! They can cram a price structure down so far that by the time they're done, you thank them for it!

The major difference between a nurse and a doctor is 3 years of internship.

Show me a competent nurse in a stable position for 3 years that can't do the job of the doctor they work for.

The tactics of diversion that physicians ave spent too much of their time on is ending.

The magic trick is over. The secret exposed.

Have you never seen the TV show "Scrubs"? ;-)

The tired old argument of spending too much time
and too much money is pompous, bogus and most of all full of gutless fear and loathing.

This latest tactic to turn the tables and pass legislation to allow insurance companies nationwide access will
also be exposed as insurance companies do not work for doctors (or do they?) so how can competition benefit insureds by diluting the bargaining power?

Nice try, it'll be just like the stupid public to swallow it.
