Hank Paulson To Testify Tomorrow

Tyler Durden's picture

A Hill aide has indicated that Hank Paulson has accepted the invitation, and will be present for tomorrow's grilling, keeping his old buddy Tim-O Tax company. We still have to hear if the last straggler, Goldman's Stephen Friedman, will also join the patriarchs of the wealth transfer plan under oath.

You bet Hank Paulson will be there. His the centerpiece of the conspiracy of treason . Now that cracks are appearing in the cascade , Paulson desperately needs to be there to keep it together and perhaps speak for his crownies who mispeak.

This will be nothing but a show trial, but nothing like the ones in stalin's day. This will be nothing more than a dog and pony show to mollify the idiot masses...

Perjury doesn't matter. It's the least prosecuted crime in the United States.

Dear Mr. Hank Paulson,
It has been the case that many Goldman alumn go on to great success' after leaving Goldman Sachs, perhaps public service or heading a central bank or two. Is this correct?

Then how could you have been such a stupdefied ignorant public servant yourself as Treasary to America, as you claim "I didn't see the real state thing coming.". Goldman Sachs saw it coming 2 years before? Don't follow the same markets and trends that wall st is following , even you are just Treasary of America.

Let's put it this way. Hank, if you were still CEO of Goldman during the crisis, instead at the treasary, would you have "seen the real estate thing coming?" why or why not?

Does becoming a publc servant make you stupid in the process? You used to be called "Hank the Hammer" What hapened? Or is that Goldman just gets the best information in the world, better than the FBI and the government.

If it does make you stupid, then that explain your decisions on Lehman, AIG, and TARP in general. Collectively Hank, you come across the worlds smartest person, who never really left GOldman Sachs, or the worlds most stupdified, ignorant, incompentent slouch. I have you at the former.

If you see a painter in the courtroom , you better duck for cover and hide behide your body guards, after all he might spray you with paint. That would be red paint

good day

All that is going to happen is them testifying that they don't know or don't remember.

Can't wait for the stuttering and a million "ums" from Hank...he is the greatest!  What are the odds that someone pleads the 5th tomorrow?

I'm really not looking forward to watching that horrid, grossly disfigured pinky finger... I wish he just cut the damn thing off and stub the little bugger.

As for pleading the 5th?  No need to.  Hank can just about stammer his way through just about anything.

+1

Pleading the 5th is a smoking gun. Hanky works for the Treserve - they specialize in putting people to sleep and burning through congresscritter time. This will just be another a blip on the radar - the American public is clueless.

Don't forget that Paulson made immunity a condition of the TARP deal along with his crews' bonuses. We still don't know the details of that. I'm betting he got full immunity. It is the holy grail of the oligarch.

But bear in mind that Paulson no longer has any skin left in the game. He's retired and has plenty of money to live off of (which may be a source of consternation, but the law requiring him to liquidate his stocks and pay no taxes long preexisted him). In contrast, Geithner is still looking for his big payday and must appease the corporate titans.

It's still a long shot, but I see Paulson as a wild card. He could just say something damning.

He is getting dropped off....parachuting out of his jet...  I bet the jet will continue to circle and pick him up the minute he leaves the court....only to be flown back to his secret hideout.

This will be nothing but theatre.  Just like most stints in front of the critters.  Makes for good TV but accomplishes nothing.  If they really want to do the right thing - resign - all of them.

1. What will be said by Timmah and Hank "GS Mole" Paulson is being heavily rehearsed as we speak.  The script is being negotiated with Issa's people right now.

2.  As when Cheney accompanied Bush to Capitol Hill in the 9/11 hearings ( a bizarre event if ever there was one), Paulson is there to make sure the stories stay straight and that every testimonial device is employed to ensure everyone has their stories straight and consistent, and to make sure The Clampdown remains firmly in control.

3.  The "ums", "uhs" and " I don't knows" will be recited endlessly.

4.  If you're playing at home at the dorm, chug or do a bong hit everytime Timmah points his finger.

4.  Look also for the periodic appearance of a blood splattered Old Glory, so we understand that these people, despite their apparent inability to form a coherent sentence in response to the few, if any, substantive and probing questions that may be tossed their way (". . . I see I have just a minute left, ah , er, Mr. Paulson, er ha...looking back, is there anything you would have done differently? Er, ah?"), fully believed in all sincerity that there was a catastrophe imminent that would have ended western civilzation had they not acted so bravely and selflessly . . .

I surely do hope they ask Hank just one question since Hank seems to be a expert "moral hazard" by using the term frequently. Mr. Paulson, why was Goldman able to make billions of dollars of contracts with AIG and posted NO collateral? How is this not a "moral hazard" Mr. Paulson?

Also in regards to "moral haZard" why couldn't Lehman brothers be granted just one day, for their lawyers to rush downtown and convert themselves into a "bank holding co." as Goldman did? I mean we seen firms make a month disappear of the calendar.

One pissed off, lonely painter in Denver.
If the appropriate authorities can't get to the bottom of this I will be forced to take measures into my hands.

Good day.

Ah! Hank Paulson. Uber financial terrorist and head of the GS crime family. Unless people like him are locked in solitary confinement and the key thrown in the sea, the world simply WILL NOT and CANNOT be a safe place.

Oh Great. Just in time to plug his new book coming out Feb 2. It is sure to top the NYT fiction list:

http://www.amazon.com/Brink-Inside-Collapse-Global-Financial/dp/04465619...

How does this guy have the audacity to profit off of a book when he already cleaned up on his Goldman bailout? It is very evident he believes the Coup was succesful. Im sure his book will mention Bernankes stand down order and the transfer of treasury money from U.S. citizens directly into AIG accounts to then be transferred to Goldman and friends.
