only 28.6 million cost to the DIF...hell, that might cover a couple of houses on Marco Island.
Marla: thank you for a separate fdic thread. very robust of you.
Whew.....that was close. FDIC can pay this one out of the tip jar.
No big boyz will go down until Timmy gives Sheila more backstop money to do backstops. Or they can execute another small fry next Friday....Mischief Night.....to prove they're on the ball.
Hello Marla,

What, already? At 4:15?
Thank you for being so efficient, FDIC.
It's no big deal really there are plenty of more banks. One could argue that Americans are over-banked....

http://www.partnersbank.net/ There was a cease & desist issued Aug 21st too on Partners' attempt to merge.
Guess that was the nail.
Congrats, FDIC.
Time for a party!

looks like theres a 101th bank too:)
yepper, American United out of Lawrenceville, GA.
As one of the leading States in bank failures, pundits were getting a bit worried that the banking rambling wrecks from georgia tech were on the no show list the past few weeks (then again, nobody was on there).
a measly 44 million
Off by a pause for the cause...
the ones tonight are just little minnows Miles....still wondering if we are gonna get a regional.....i simply cannot guess....obama's base is getting real worked up, he's got that thing coming out Monday....i wonder if he is gonna get a little rougher than he was at Federal Hall a few weeks ago....turbo needs lots of money next week...i dunno man.....
Expediency knows no other ally like a scared politician. The clock, as you say, is running. Regardless of our collective observations there remains tremendous power to wield and there are means to various ends that only require the will the employ. Events are firming my hypothesis. Of course few myself excepted would put money on any outcome that would appear adventuresome to the peddlers of stability.
We'll see. There are indeed decisions to be made over these next few weeks that will be decisive in the medium term.
Have a great weekend DH. It is indeed the hight of the turning.
i think they are all starting to freak out....i can imagine the meetings.
i'll be watching obama's words closely on monday...is he going to do tv on the bank thing do you know?
Let's send them some flowers Monday. heehee.
OMG Max is IN THE ZONE tonight:

Doesn't Bove love in Tampa. Very fitting, huh?
And Denninger notices the following:
[Indeed, the FDIC not only allowed all of the firm's Tier Capital (that is, their EXCESS CAPITAL) to be wiped out, but then allowed the bank to continue to operate until it's asset base was destroyed to the tune of 43% of "face value" before stepping in and closing the institution.
Prompt Corrective Action - a LAW, not a suggestion - is supposed to prevent this outcome. It is being wantonly and willfully ignored by the OTS, OCC, The FDIC and CONGRESS.
This level of loss is unconscionable and Sheila Bair, along with everyone involved in bank regulation at The Fed and the various Treasury departments (OTS, OCC and FDIC) must be held to account for their willful and intentional blindness.
"Mark to Myth" is not just a myth, it is a willful and intentional lie.]

I see 4 banks closed today now.
I count six...

Didn't the last 100 celebration at Washington look like this?

Didn't the subject matter die soon after?
I started my personal 100th bank celebration tonight by commencing my total withdrawal of all our cash from Chase. I'm no big fish - but it's not a trivial amount & still going to be fun. Should take me about a week.
Tonight's first chunk was in honor of Uncle Billy Bailey ... $8000. Not that much, but they seemed actually surprised. Between the two tellers working, I took all their unopened large bill sleeves (20 $100's in each) - they only had 4 between them. I guess people don't use cash too much these days. We'll see if that continues.
bank branches carry very little cash.
Oh - I know, DH. And now they have less.
