He Just Won't Let Go

Tyler Durden's picture

I am done commenting on this. However, this is what I sent to DK's producer this morning. I am still waiting for a response.

Dave, I am sure you have by now read my response to Dennis' segment last night. I would like to offer DK the opportunity to defend his position however in a medium away from CNBC: I will let him choose what that is, however I would request several things:

- preservation of anonymity

- no commercial breaks

- ability to finish sentences without interruptions

I am departing the country tomorrow so we can have the debate when I get back on the 13th. I believe this should give Dennis enough time to prepare.

Alternatively, if Dennis would like to send a standalone letter or explanatory piece, Zero Hedge will be happy to publish it.

Best, TD

PS: CNBC, watching a show's clip via your free website does not count toward its Nielsen rating.

hahahahaha!!!! omigod...I have never watched this guy before, but did now only b/c of this latest post of yours, and I'm having a REALLY slow afternoon. Now I can't believe anyone watches him at all!!

Did he really say, "hope is a magical elixir"??? Christ now I understand why Obama rode to a win on Hope for Magic You Can Believe In or Wish Upon a Star or whatever the hell it was. Being across the globe I really didn't understand, before.

Those howls ain't from anger, Knealie sweetie, they're laughter...

He was certainly glowing over stock prices up and pending home sales up...and the consumer sentiment...and personal savings up. Funny, those are what I think of as pretty much the constant markings of this 'recession'. Loadsa rosy forecasts (now *there's* a change) and "less bad than expecteds". No wonder he such a happy hopeful little muppet.

(I couldn't tell if he *enjoyed* the 'death threats' ??? or was hurt or scared by them, so as much as I would have enjoyed making a creative death threat or two, I don't want to risk bruising him more...and now that he points it out, yes, he does look a lot like Meeker.)

Laughter really *is* the best medicine! I'm all fuzzy now.

Now that you mention it...DK's "hope is a magical elixir" does work. I'm crying I'm laughing so hard at this idiot. I the midst of the Great Capitulation we have a little entertainment.

People now are getting paid the SAME WAGES as they did in 2000. But are prices at 2000 levels? HELL NO. So they go into debt, adding more layers tothe USA debt ponzi scheme.

Obama's policies may not be working as well as many had hoped:

1st 100 days - There are 2.9 million more people unemployed in May than there were unemployed in January. The unemployment rate went from 7.6% to 9.4%. Since May 2008, we have lost 5.5 million jobs. The biggest losers

were:
Manufacturing 1.5 million lost
Finance & Prof Serv 1.5 million lost
Construction 1.1 million lost
Retail & Leisure 1.3 million lost

I wish I could find a video clip of DK from last year when he was making fun of a stock technician that he had on. In the clip he made fun of the technician for predicting that the dow would fall a few thousand points from 11000 or something around there. And big tuff DK mocked the guy saying that we at CNBC are in big trouble if its all predetermined by mathematics. Well we all know what happened since and sure enough DK was right we don't need CNBC.

The quality of people willing to stand up and debate this bully with a time clock and the last word will be nose-diving
almost immediately. I saw and read later that it was actually 46 seconds he allowed someone to make a counter-argument when he was cut off and tossed in the trash as a nilmonger..as we know his name DK is perfect and should be pasted on his forehead like the bad trade he presents.
A list of seconds elapsed before getting flushed vs the time for his ensuing diatribes would make a nice 2 column pastiche,

The poor man is approaching the end of his career. It's one thing to make a call, but to stick your neck out as far as he has -- when he's so clearly wrong -- is probably an unrecoverable mistake.

But then again... DK openly asked "What is the VIX?" on air only one year ago. And somehow his career recovered.

The question I have is why is no one correcting him on his hilarious mis-read of the "golden cross". Everyone who believes in TA knows the direction of the 200DMA has to be the same as the crossover for the signal to be valid. The 200DMA is descending, so this isn't a golden cross at all. (If of course you believe in TA in the first place).

Tyler- IGNORE this guy from now on. he has said sooooo much he couldnt possibly spin it in ANY way to support his position when we retest the lows of march, there is no reason to respond while the market is still being propped up by GS and the govt. That will end eventually, probably sooner rather than later. Wait for the next leg down and try to get on with him then. Of course you wont be able to then, but it will be fun watching how he tries to salvage this absolutely horrible GE "hope" position. I dont see any positives that can be attained by 'predicting' the next crash, even if its on cnbc. It looks like Macke hooked up Kneale with his dealer...this guy is way over the top and a bit to grandiose to be a sober talking head....

Tyler doesn't want to ignore him. Why would he? If Dennis had Kneeled at my blog, I would have responded again as Tyler has. Look, this is very, very, very good for ZH business. And they know it. Why else would he respond to Dennis again when I don't believe ZH was mentioned in that last segment? I would do the same thing.

Dennis, I was one of the people who made a "homo-erotic" statement. I'm rather offended as many of my gay friends probably are as well. Have we not gotten past use of the term homo in society? I would hate to hear the words you use to describe other people when the camera isn't on. The offer still stands. You might like it if you try it.

If Dennis actually knew anything about economics, he would know consumers can't cause a recession. Something no economist in today's world seemingly understands. So, looking at home building numbers means absolutely nothing.

Dennis, I now actually believe you are an even bigger fucking moron. Somethings it's just better to shut the fuck up. ie He who speaks last loses.

Big Bird has not a clue as to have a credit system works. CNBC should be telling people the truth. The truth of the matter is the system was NEVER sustainable.

The US credit system debt stand at $52.9T (see fed's Z1 report, total credit market debt). For the system to keep going it must be serviced. You certainly can't service $53T with $1.484T ($371B Q 2009 of which $465B was new government debt without new government creation only -$95B yes minus).

For someone to be able to keep the system afloat you must exponential grow $53T US and $200T worldwide to sustain the credit system.

Graph 15,10,5% over time, say 50-500 years. There is no way humans can sustain exponential growth forever. Sorry unless you have unlimited power you are FUBR.

The only way to TEMPORARILY stop what is happening is to have consumers request new credit creation from the commercial banks at or near 2007 levels which was $4.6T. Right now, total credit creation is less than $1.5T annualized(based on Q1 2009 FR Z1 report of which $1.86T is fed gov creation and -$380B is everything else).

If the federal government had not stepped in front of the train last year, the system simply would not exist. Eventually the train will flatten the federal government and we are back to FUBR city.

Battles can be won, the war was over before it started. 65 years of people lying to each other. The math simply does not work.

The need for exponential growth to a system is unsustainable. Long term does not work because the math simply does not work.

Thu, 07/02/2009 - 09:45 | 4015 Mako
Mako's picture

The credit system is very simply.

For Paul to pay back Peter, Patrick must borrow from Penn the Banker so that Paul can earn money from Patrick to pay Peter.

As soon as Patrick is unable or unwilling to take on more from Penn... game over.

Go to a greyhound track, tell the guy that operates fluffy the robot rabbit to keep having fluffy go around the track... let the dogs keep on chasing the rabbit. Eventually the dogs will lay down in the middle of the track from being tired... at that point it doesn't matter what the operator does.. the dog is done. You could strap a fresh steak on the back of that rabbit and the dogs are not going to move.

After 65 years it's game over. The math simply will not support a system forever unless you have unlimited power.

The entire CNBC network's modus operandi is to act as if the markets are free and not manipulated by the government, selected firms etc and to take anyone who is bullish or who is a CEO of a corporation at their word. They never question the bs that is spouted by the industry "economists" that appear. They never question the interconnected relationships of their guests and how that influences what they are saying unless they are bearish. They do little or any investigative journalism, unless it's about hookers and pot;) For them it is essentially all about gaining access to industry insiders and government figures. They'll never question whether these people via their actions are ruining our country and destroying its middle class.

Interestingly, I can't find a link to Mr. Kneale's program, CNBC REports on their website. Perhaps (oh please Lord) they aren't so sure about it either. I wanted to write to them to say of all the anchors or regulars on their netwrok that annoy me, Dennis Kneale is the only one who actually makes me flip the channel. My favorite part is that he actually thinks all these people are watching him on TV? The only reason he's gotten this much of a reaction is because clips are posted. Does Sarah Palin think people like her because so many people watch the YouTube video of her talking while a turkey gets its head cut off in the background? Hmm, yeah maybe she does, and I think Mr. Kneale is acting just as clueless. He is everything people hate about CNBC, he doesn't get that it's not all about him. Give us the friggin' news already.

Oh, and his comment about blogger/reader ages was lame. I cannot verify his age, because no one would waste their time writing any bio info in Wiki about the idiot, but I do remember the 70s and 80s very well....apparently better than him. Dickbreath must have been too busy popping zits and wacking off in his bedroom to notice the difference between now and then if he thinks this recession/depression isn't worse.

Dennis is in the business of selling his poison to unsuspecting and naive investors--especially the elderly.

Cnbc has done more harm than Bin Laden, madoff, and Hitler combined.

Kneale is fishing for ratings and trying to talk up his own career.

What an azzhole.

when you see someone you don't care for digging a hole, step back and let them keep digging... talent of any substance should boycott this guy in droves and let him play hope and dreams with his core sheep. doing the opposite gets this guy ratings and we vote with our eyeballs, dollars, and presence.
turn away from this entertainer who makes the "I'm here not just to entertain you , but to educate you" guy (used to be just an educator, then an educator and entertainer, now > 50% labeled as entertainer.. legal staff imperative I'm sure) look good.

As I wrote elsewhere last night,

"...this guy (DK) is just a smug, arrogant arse who probably got beat up on the playground every day for his lunch money and then ran home expecting mommy to go beat up the bullies for him. How CNBC can run him as 'serious' journo is beyond me; he comes across as a younger version of Larry Kudlow -- just more whiny. Oh, right -- it's his tripe that gets folks like us talking about it, which they view as publicity for the network.....after all, all press is good press, right?"

Ignore him. He's cheerleading and just a CNBC agitator designed to create buzz in the blogosphere under the guise of 'news'. Let him snivel and whine and pontificate all he wants -- all he appears to be is yet another opinionator on a news network trying to make a name for himself just like O'Reily, Hannity, Kudlow, Olbermann, and so forth.

And this crap about "anonymity" in cyberspace? That argument died circa 1998. Sorry to break the news to him.

Dear Dennis -

I don't like your on-air attitude or opinionated tripe. You're one of the reasons I don't watch CNBC anymore.

Sincerely,

Richard Forno
(yes, using my REAL name -- imagine that!)

Zerohedge, love the column. Re DK: refences to the DSM IV miss the point of his activity. His business is entertainment. Where serious economists like Rosie need facts for opinions, he would be happy to rival Jon Stewart on the Daily Show. He doesn't care if he is right, he just craves attention.
And, that is why the masses follow folks like him and JJC to slaughter. They perceive that to have value on TV, a host must entertain them. Comparisons to the Roman circuses are much too accurate for comfort.

I wonder what Kneale has to say after market closes on its day low(7/2), the third week down in a row. Surely this not a trend, a golden cross 50 daay over the 200 MA. keep it up and be sure not to ever ever update yer views.

Look on the bright side guys...How much would it have cost Zero Hedge to get that much commercial air time on network TV? (Ok it's pseudo network it's CNBC but you know what I mean) And right when the website is launched no less... Come on, the timing is as good as the Paris Hilton sex tape hitting the web right before her "reality" show hit FOX.

This has to be good for a few thousand extra visitors a day at least.

It's a beautiful thing.

Obviously most of you are far too young to get the analogy I am about to post.

Tyler, Dennis is just not worth breaking a sweat over.

Think of him as the Howdy Doody puppet that Buffalo Bob used to carry around on his lap.

Occasionally Buffalo Bob would shove his hand down Doody's backside, reach up and twist the puppet's head around a little, jiggle the puppet's string's a little and make it look like his eyes were moving and like the puppet were talking. Except that if you looked at Buffalo Bob really closely you'd see his lips move the slightest bit every time Howdy talked.

It's the same with Dennis Kneale, except Backtrack Obama, TurboTim Geithner, and Helicopter Ben Bernanke pull his strings through GE, who is still into the government for a crapload of TARP funds (someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I am). You must be getting on someone's nerves or getting close to something to have the puppet call you out on national TV.

I'd take it as an indication that I'm on the right track, and just keep moving on. Don't worry about the puppet. You're getting to the people who are pulling the strings. Don't think for a minute that the puppet would be calling you out on his own He doesn't have the balls.

Great work, Tyler and the rest of the Zero Hedge staff.
