Heavy Gunfire Reported At Deraa Square In Syria Where Thousands Of Protestors Are Gathered - Video Update

Tyler Durden's picture

And there goes Syria.

From Al Jazeera:

Syrian security forces have opened fire on anti-government protesters near the city of Daraa, killing at least 20 people, residents have told Al Jazeera.

"There are more than 20 martyrs .... they (security forces) opened fire haphazardly," the witness said.

Reuters also reported that heavy gunfire could be heard in the southern city, the focal point for demonstrations against Bashar al-Assad''s regime in recent days.

The incident comes as protesters demanding greater freedom called for a "day of dignity" on Friday following a week-long crackdown by pro-regime forces that has left dozens dead.

At least 200 people marched in the centre of Damascus after Friday prayers in support of the people of Daraa, scene of protests against Baath Party rule, a Reuters news agency witness said.

And the latest video report from Daraa from Al Jazeera:

Islamophobia, thats a mental belief every non Islamic American should have.

Islam has one goal, we all know what it is,yet we are making it easy for them to slaughter the sheeples.

Instead we have a DHS with a list of normal Americans as the terrorists.

And you tell me we have not been infiltrated?.

And I ask you who are the REAL terrorists?.

This stack of dominoes is gaining momentum faster than snot out of a third graders nose at recess in the winter. I am still a little taken aback about how fast however.  I guess in my mind I pictured that the 'end game scenario' would be a little more drawn out with fits-and-starts rather than this cascading, accelerating, inertia fuckfest we're seeing.

Live and learn.

I think there's a pre-determined scheme driven by perhaps an unclassified movement. However, if you think about it, this could be a pre-formulated anti-american movement quickly orchestrated by our worst enemies. To add, it is of their intelligent plan that include the suppression of any anti-american rhetoric obscured by the pro-democratic slant. Not to say many younger citizens are legitimately advancing on the opportunity.Yes, it is fast but the planning has taken many years.

Yes, it is fast but the planning has taken many years.

Care to offer proof? It should be easy since it sounds like you have first-hand knowledge.

Thanks for the compliment but have no more proof than anyone else would about their opinion. MENA has been a boiling pot for years and I would not be surprised if some of these thoughts are proven out and surfaced as each episode/chapter unfolds. To back up my opinions, I'll use input from editorials, intelligence correspondence, historical references and also through personal sources and their viewpoints. Thanks for asking but that's the best I could do. Good luck!

The Syrian protesters are saying they don't want regime change. That's not going to go down well with Hilary and O'bomber! (Maybe they'll bomb this useless lot of protesters and train another lot).

It's just that damn military mowing them down, nothing to look at here, unless of course it was Israel doing the shooting, then the world would be blathering 24/7.

It's ok to murder your own people, but not kill in self defense somehow that escapes me.

(Hamas rockets, and a Izzy retaliation, always stirs up the racist Jew haters.).

A bit late. There are at least 3 posts above from Zionistas playing the victim, crying and demanding the non-existent anti-semites to be nasty to Israel. The longest military occupation in modern history, and of course Israel is always the victim. You can't make this shit up.

The civil wars in ME are due to Bernanke. Having rest of the world use your currency as a storage of wealth carries certain responsibilities and Bernanke intentionaly disregards these, which is going to result in US dollar becoming a worthless paper. China, India, Pakistan are all bigger versions of ME, only they have Nuclear weapons to make it worse.

And in the only news Bernanke watches, Dow is up by 0.71%.

No regime change they say, really? If you call your own government a regime, makes you wonder if reforms are possible with out regime change.

EVERYONE LOVES TO HATE ON ISRAEL for inhuman treatment of palestinians. fair enough, it aint easy to defend israeli action on a humanitarian level, but guess what:  SYRIAN MASSACRED THEIR OWN 'PALESTINIANS' IN FAR GREATER NUMBERS THAN ISRAEL EVER DID.

SYRIA IN 1982 MASSACRE AT HAMA:  Twenty years later, Syrian journalist Subhi Hadidi, wrote that "under the command of General 'Ali Haydar, besieged the city for 27 days, bombarding it with heavy artillery and tank [fire], before invading it and killing 30,000 or 40,000 of the city's citizens - in addition to the 15,000 missing who have not been found to this day, and the 100,000 expelled." [19]

READ IT HERE. ---AND KNOW THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. it is just a matter of time.  IN SYRIA , IN JORDAN, AND maybe even IN ISRAEL ( i think the israeli's are too smart to jump into a headlong humanitarian disaster involving directly shelling and killing 30,000 people--there are more subtle ways for the smarter israelis ). IT'S NOT AN ARAB THING, IT'S A REFUGEE VERSUS SOVERIEGN NATION THANG. BEING A dis-encountrified permanent  minority sucks. i feel bad for the palestinians, but not so bad that id wanna be them.

There's nothing in that link about Palestinians. Unless you're using "Palestinian" as a catch-all word for victims of civil wars? Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Thing about Israel-apologist cunts like you is the belief that finding something equally abhorrent to Israel somehow excuses Israel. It doesn't. There's hardly anything left of Palestine - isn't it about time you gave it a fucking rest and stopped thieving? Germany paid reparations to the victims of the Holocaust as they should. Why the fuck aren't the Israelis paying the 2-3 million Palestinian refugees they've stolen from?

Sorry about the language, but I just can't stand Israeli thieves, liars and murderers pretending to be noble victims after the longest military occupation in modern history and all that implies. Ethnic cleansing and subjugation of Christian and Arab Palestinians are not acts to be defended, no matter who you are.

You sound riled enough to fight the ethnic cleansers all on your own like my historical novel hero, Sidi Kafir...but that was eight hundred years ago or so. So...what has changed since then...? More ethnic cleansing and more 'holy land shit' from both sides. Makes a pagan out of anyone sensible...
