China's central bank will raise the one-year lending and deposit interests rate by 25 basis points from December 26, the second time in 2010.

Henri Emmanuelli, the president, of the French parliamentary inquiry commission on speculative mechanisms, released his rapport to the Assemblée nationale the 21st. In this rapport he points out many things that will not surprise most of you but will surely shake the beliefs of my fellow tribesmen -the mean French people of the old continent-.
Some excerpts from the rapport:
- "The liquidity in circulation represent nearly twelve times the world gross domestic product. That represent 700 000 billions €."
- He calls the markets a "casino economy". - That's a very "keiserish" thing to say for a French politician but I can't say I'm unhappy about that.
- He calls for the interdiction of short naked sales, credit default swap and HFT.
And to really take things up a notch: he wishes to engage the responsibility of members of the board of directors of any financial institution private or otherwise "in case of failure to fulfill their obligations or mismanagement."

Tyler has shared with me the list of Suspicious Numbers that have called 1-888.Qui.Zero over the last year and it's a doozie.
Some of these numbers are clearly black ops, CIA, MI3, Mossad(www.mossad.gov.il), and other Federal Reserve cover orginiztions. Most calls are originating from Mossad agents living in the US(Southeast Florida) and New Jersey areas.
The calls have been scary, threatening, harassing, and have reportedly caused some ZH staffers (?Marla?) to back out of there commitments to the hedge for fear of personal safety. Speculation is running ramped.
Loosing control of the USD is serious biznas and they don't like the gold talk by Chumbawamba and GG. So let's keep the talk to a minimum but keep your actions to the maximum and fight the money changers.

Feelings aren't facts, you should look before leaping...
I think you totally missed his point, though, ironically you defended it with your post. The fact that the Gregorian calendar is the internationally accepted civil calendar does not make it any less of an imaginary cultural tool that allows us to "measure" a dimension we only partially inhabit and cannot, in any way, manipulate.
Dates are arbitrary, though any date is as arbitrary as the next so we use the calendar backed by the culture with the biggest guns.

I've been a poster on financial blogs going all the way back to Yahoo! Boards, The Well, AOL and other BBSs that time forgot. It's been a long strange trip from those days to ZH, except that I was the devil's advocate at the peak of the 2000 bubble (and a raging bull from the '91 Santa Claus rally and the Netscape IPO in '94) at a time when I felt like the lone voice in the woods, the crazy and the party pooper. On a macro level though my doubt go way way back and haven't changed much over time, only getting worse. Like with ZH in general, some may view me as critical but I'm sincerely concerned with the health of our country and the globe. That's why ZH resonates deeply with me.

Sent my mom a Christmas card 'cause she's a sweet old lady. Sum total of my Christmas effort. No kids, no wife (only a couple of exs - what is the plural of ex?). Makes it easy. Worked Christmas eve at the Post Office on a 6th day for the overtime money to pay the bills to be able to retire in a couple of years - knowing that it is all going to blow up and make it all pointless anyway, but still hoping. Came home to a broken water heater and a stream of water coming out of my garage. Took hours to clean up. Had to get a city water guy to come out and open the lid of the shut off valve.
Read ZeroHedge until way into the morning. Eat, sleep, work, read ZH. What a life.

HELP!! Im moving to Ecuador. My bank lost my $ 2,000 because they wired the money incorrectly to a bank there. They refuse to take responsibility, showing me a piece of paper that they executed the transfer, although they earlier admitted they used the wrong procedure. My grandfather that lived through the Depression doesn't like Gold. He was my current age during the "Great Depression". His families' small business (corner food store- not 7/11 or whitehenz) collapsed and they were destitute due to COLLAPSE of credit. No one had any money= small business SLAMMED close. Debts were literally hand written in those days. Once there was no more phyiscal currency to pay the bills, businesses COLLAPSED! debt= slavery
He taught my dad never to trust banks. My grandfather laughs at the idea of credit cards.
He refuses now to buy the Sun Times because the of a 75 cents increase. That paper that was 1 dollar now costs two. At 94, it is a miracle he is still living from that horrible time period. That simple trip to the gas station (not chambers) in the morning was something he looked forward too. :(

Marx's Collosal Error
Marx's error in his analysis of capitalism was his idea of measuring the surplus value. He struggled with this and even spent the last years of his life trying to make up for his deficit in mathematics by studying algebra on his own. He attempted to reformulate surplus value in mathematical terms. This is impossible to do because each stage of production incorporates surplus value which then becomes embedded in the product; decomposing this, mathematically speaking, would lead to an infinite regress.
Rather, he should simply have realized that the object in capitalism is to pay workers the absolute minimum possible. This idea is even incorporated in law. In Dodge v. Ford, Henry Ford was sued by his shareholders when he tried to pay workers more than the minimum so that they would be able to buy the cars that they themselves produced. This made very good business sense, but the shareholders were keenly aware of the hazard to their long term interests of such ideas.
In effect, paying workers the minimum possible is how the capitalist appropriates surplus value. Let the market for labor decide what workers are worth. No computation as such is necessary.
Imagine, for instance, a small village that is not under a capitalist regime which functions more or less like a commune, with barter the dominant form of transactions. Under sufficiently favorable conditions, such as the availability of fertile land for all, etc, the whole village will live pretty well and everyone will enjoy good health. Then imagine that a foreigner comes in and takes all their land away from them by force. Now that he is the owner, he can force the whole village to work for him in deplorable conditions with the absolute minimum left over for their own consumption. He then sells the product of their labor and takes all the profit for himself. This idea becomes popular and widespread as more and more strongmen take over whole villages. Over time, people come to think this is the natural order for things and accept their servitude. In effect, the strongman has appropriated their surplus value.
Capitalism works in the same fashion. The idea is once again to pay people the absolute minimum possible. It is only due to unionization and resistance to this idea that some possibility of a more than subsistence level of life became possible. Also, due to scientific and technological progress, higher levels of skill and technical expertise were required. Nurturing these requires a certain degree of indulgence towrards those human assets that would acquire these skills. However, this indulgence, aka as a higher standard of living, must be rigorously controled so that the right of the rentier/capitalist class to surplus value, however unquantifiable in theory, is maintained.
It is clear that the GOP, as everyone knows, is much more capitalist in its outlook historically than the democrats. The fact that both are now on the same page only hides this historical difference in emphasis. But historical effects never completely go away, and despite the popular idea on ZH that there are no essential or practical differences between these two parties which are both craven agents of our governing elites, there is a fundamental ideological difference, nevertheless between the two parties. The GOP is often presented as representing big business (and small business for propaganda purposes only). Underlying this is a built in bias to cause as much suffering as possible to the laboring classes. By maximizing suffering to a level just below what would provoke an all out rebellion, the surplus value that ,flows to the elites is maximized. The Democrats, good hypocrites that they are, attempt to lessen this suffering (eg, extending unemployment benefits). The two parties are actually working together as a kind of good cop/bad cop duo to keep the status quo going. The Democrats, in appearing to battle for the little guy, actually aid and abet the system of oppression, by preventing any questioning of the system in and of itself.
Therefore if you wish to understand the underlying bias of our capitalist system, look at the republicans. Their raison d'être can be summarized as cui malo--to whom the harm. This is the underlying dynamic of a system which strives under a deterministically mathematical optimization regime to funnel all possible surplus value to the dominant elites.

Seeing as how he has been the senior member of the Senate to be in charge of banking regs and financial services have captured 40% or more of the profit in the US economy for the last umpteen years, it's just a bit disingenuous of you to claim good cop status for democrats.
