Hosni Mubarak Should Heed John F. Kennedy's Message: "Those Who Make Peaceful Revolution Impossible, Make Violent Revolution Inevitable"

George Washington's picture

Washington’s Blog

I have repeatedly argued for non-violent - as opposed to violent - protests.

I hope that the Egyptian protesters remain peaceful.

But - as many Twitterers note - Hosni Mubarak should heed John F. Kennedy's message:

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible, make violent revolution inevitable.

Speaking of aircraft. Wouldn't it be funny if the helicopter pilot flying Mubarak out of Heliopolis <<insert US Embassy in Saigon roof picture here>> got religion and instead of helping him escape landed him in the middle of the sea of protesters?

I hear that Bush said he would sell his 100,000 acre ranch in Paraqua that has no extradition laws to Mubarak for 20 Billion.

Last time this happened in the middle east ( or San Francisco) the mob got rid of the Shah and put in place smiling countenance of the Ayatollah. I won't get fooled again.

We aren't talking the 'Enlightenment' when we speak of the Arab middle east. Bloodbath the likely outcome and I'm all for it.

He's afraid of leaving, pure and simple.  He knows and everyone else knows that Mubarak has been stealing from Egypt for 30 years, he's worth close to 70 billion dollars.  To us we would say see ya and be gone with our treasure, but he can't.  Because he fears that when he goes to Montenagro Egypt will demand him back to face trial for torture and money and whatever and he doesn't believe that the US will protect him.  Because once he's gone, he's gone and not important anymore.  And since this country was used in the rendition process to torture people for information and also he and his govt. did it also, he doesn't want to be on the business end of that.

Sell the Sinai back to Israel before he goes and the Israelis will build a palace for him in Tel Aviv.

No extradition treaties.

Iceland's volcano and Mubarak's gold. Mix them together and you have the world's ill in a nut shell. Climate change and corporate/front man's corruption go hand in hand as the financialisation of material hyper consumption runs amok like a sex starved piston running from Detroit to Dallas. Try dunking that down the volcano in eruption!

Glen Beck is a heavy breather who sounds like he is going to have an orgasm if Mubarak hangs in there any longer. Must be an old Mubarak fan like some are Marilyn Monroe addicts.

For a guy that goes on and on about democracy in his shows, he's certainly been cheerleading for this dictatorship. GB is a big fat Zionist.

A lot of Fundamentalist-Christians (including some Mormons, apparently) believe that Jerusalem has to be in the hands of the Jewish state before Christ will reappear...

People believing in a book written in the early iron age about late bronze age tribal warrior society tall tales passed through oral traditions.

Speaks volumes of the retardedness of Fundamentalist Christians and Mor(m)ons.

Even Einstein dismissd it as childish stories.

GW have you been completely subsumed by the MSM (CNN, AlJazeera etc) You sound like Andersen Cooper.

It's the military that has run Egypt for 50 years, Mubarak was their man and he exists at their pleasure. The military will continue to run Egypt when  Mubarak eventually goes.

Scientists in Iceland are warning that another volcano looks set to erupt and threatening to spew-out a pall of dust that would dwarf last year's event....

Glen Beck is taking deep breaths to calm down. His anyalisis of the situation might be very interesting in light of this new development.

Mubarak doesn't believe they have the stones to do more than march and yell. And he has all the weapons.

He's a DICTATOR, right? That's what they do!

So far it seems he has faced no credible threat of force. That's all that a thug respects.

If you want peace prepare for war and aim at the trolls who don't know how to yoodle like a swiss doodle lost in poodle talk. Yikes I hate a dog that bites its master. Faithfulness is a dog's disease not transmissible to humans. That's why there'll always be wars. As peace lovers we are warned.
