As expected. Just sent out from Lagarde's twitter account: "The results are in: I am honored & delighted that the Board has entrusted me with the position of MD of the IMF!" Now can the symbolic IMF and its double symbolic head please step aside and leave the real bailouts to China, please?

My comment Ori concerns her postion w.r.t to USD hegemony and the inevitable move to a yuan based basket. Her predecessor, DSK, was convinced it was necessary, more now than later. She being a Sarkozy stooge may be more US inclined, which DSK tried to fight. But as the world now moves fast into a currency bubble war China will call more and more the shots. Even in the IMF and so she must move in their direction in-spite of Sarkozy, and the FED. It will be fascinating to see this tug of war in the mad spiral down.

China has just published figures concerning its level of debt at municipal level : huge!
If added up with different central government debts the total debt level overall is 82% of GDP! equivalent to France. A lot of this is hidden debts held by private chinese banks in real estate which are worth nothing. So China joins the club of debt ridden countries, in spite its huge currency reserves!
