Intel Beats Top Line And EPS Estimates

Tyler Durden's picture

Intel reports revenues of $11.46 billion on expectations of $11.36, with EPS coming at $0.59 on expectations of $0.53 and whisper number of $0.56. After a kneejerk reaction higher, the stock has pared back gains and is now about $0.20 cents higher. Earlier, it was reported that INTC Put contracts had risen to a 10 year high of 323,825 so there likely is quite a substantial short base in the name.

More details:

  • Q4 revenue USD 11.46bln vs. Exp. USD 11.36bln
  • Q4 gross margin 67.5%
  • Sees Q1 revenue USD 11.1-11.9bln vs. Exp. USD 10.74bln
  • Sees Q1 depreciation about USD 1.2bln
  • Sees Q1 gross margin about 64% vs. Exp. 63.4%
  • Sees FY 2011 gross margin about 65% vs. 64.2%

One thing you'll notice is esys technologies is everywhere under some sort of name variation.

What is going on with esys.

As long as those unemployment checks keep going out, they will be just fine.  Add in the 2% bonus to the remaining workforce and you are looking at another beat in Q1.  Multiply in QE3 and they are bound to hit 1XX a share by Dec 11.

Quant's need parts! wait... well close enough for the bulk of the readers here.

Beats Q4 on top and bottom line, guides Q1 higher, and the stock is up 1.5% so far after hours.  Not as strong of a stock performance so far as you'd expect.

Considering Alcoa is taking a breather after their earnings, it'll be interesting to see what Intel does in the next couple of days.

Now it is finally starting to move as you'd expect

Sell on the news; buy rare earths and NEM.

Meanwhile, Sealy is a big miss.  No sleeping going on in this wonderful recovery.

RobotTrader's picture

INTC has missed 3 times in a row.

Today's news was OK, but not great.

No doubt, tons of bears piled into that stock.

mynhair's picture

Picked up some NEM, just for you, dearie!  It held.

Rogerwilco's picture

The real deal will come on the 18th when AAPL reports. Anything less than a blowout will send 'em running for the exit.

Careless Whisper's picture

the longer CSCO stays above 21, the more i buy.

SLW tempting.tempting.

"INTC has missed 3 times in a row."

Reported vs. First Call Mean for the last three quarters:

9/10: $0.52 vs. $0.50

6/10: $0.51 vs. $0.43

3/10: $0.43 vs. $0.38

What???

Hephasteus's picture

He meant to say lied their asses off about missing 3 times in a row.

I'd like to know if they expect a margin squeeze from cost inflation?

Does anyone care about net margin?

mynhair's picture

Net margin? No.  The FED will start QE123 to buy excess production.

plocequ1's picture

Margins? That's so 90s. Just add margins to the list of other failed theories and worries like the Hindenburg Omen

plocequ1's picture

Good!! They make a fine product. My Dell and Apple computers are both behemoths thanks to Intels i7 . Rally on

firstdivision's picture

Really the bar was set low for INTC today, and they did beat and are forcasting better results.

In other news, M2 contracted by $23B

mynhair's picture

Hell, I'm still wondering how MRO is going to spin off Obama.

Racer's picture

I really cannot see how they can still get away with this ridiculous.. beat estimates lark...

they change the guesstimates as they want and set it like a limbo pole as easy or hard as they want

Agent P's picture

It was a record year for the company and they guided above consensus...doesn't appear to me they are setting the limbo pole on easy.

pat53's picture

Lokks like more pain for the bears .. LOL   it just won't end

Racer's picture

Bears or bulls can't assess anything in this rigged 'market'

ZeroPower's picture

Though if youre a bullish (and betting) man, youre quite ahead of the bears in terms of gains.

mynhair's picture

Oh contrare, both just need to buy the fukking dips.  And those dips are getting more and more infrequent.  Just don't hold for long.  Little bites....

Bogus report, netbook ATOMS don't make money. Servers? If that's the case, then Oracle is the winner here, but that's doubtful too- all you need is massive storage for Facebook's photos, who else is doing any actual work besides Google?

HarryWanger's picture

Doesn't seem to support a dying economy does it?? Now moving higher and taking King AAPL up as well.

onlymyopinion's picture

Hat tip to INTC---Nice numbers, A/H market seems to agree.  Overall, earnings should drive market higher before a small (3-4%) pullback which should present first real buying opportunity for 2011.

Id fight Gandhi's picture

So good earnings in this world will lead to a selloff. Look at csco, msft, intc all been value traps.
