Invader's Remorse: Arab League Now Criticizes Western Attack On Libya

Tyler Durden's picture

Not even a full day after the UN-endorsed attack on Libya began, and the "invader's remorse" is already manifesting itself as discontent among the "peacemakers" emerges. Per the AFP: "The Arab League on Sunday criticized Western military strikes on Libya, a week after urging the United Nations to slap a no-fly zone on the oil-rich North African state. "What has happened in Libya differs from the goal of imposing a no-fly zone and what we want is the protection of civilians and not bombing other civilians," Arab League secretary general Amr Mussa told reporters." We wonder what the Arab League will say when reports of innocent civilians, up to a million of whom have been forcefully armed by Gaddafi, being butchered en masse begin emerging. And how long before the entire operation is deemed a total failure... to be redeemed only by a full scale land invasion?

More from the AFP:

On March 12, the Arab League urged the United Nations to impose a no-fly zone on Libya and said Moamer Kadhafi’s regime had "lost legitimacy" as it sought to snuff out a rebellion designed to oust him from power.

In the West’s biggest intervention in the Arab world since the 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq, US warships and a British submarine fired more than 120 Tomahawk cruise missiles into Libya on Saturday, the US military said.

“The irony is that the "allies" will end up being guilty of what they are supposedly trying to stop. It’s this kind of asshat stupidity that the Ponzi makes possible.”

You see this comment above you little halfwit, the poster implicitly implies that debt markets created this war, and if we didn’t have them and the bad men that manage them, then we wouldn’t be in this war or any war. Now, personally if you were standing beside me and tried to tie in such a point to a general strategic argument about a particular battle, an argument you were going to lose due to your ignorance, I would have to choke the idiot life out of your body, rather than hear you go through the fantastic motions of your grand ponzi retarded schema/grandiose answer to everything wrong/ lazy minded paranoid reactionary shyte. Shouting at me about government debt, don’t make laugh you silly man.

It is obvious we cannot take the right track no matter we do. Just bring all our troops home from all over the world, and let all the other nations take care of all the shit going down. We just take care of us here. Enough with us killing other people in the name of democracy or freedom. It is enough. What a disaster.

So that great proclaimator of freedom and democracy has sold out the people of Taiwan for "liberating" the people of Libya like they did for all the peoples who have been "liberated" such as the Iranians in 1953, Iraqis, Afghans, you get the point.

Not very surprising.  There is oil AND water under the sands of Libya.  Those are the only and real reason why the people of Libya need liberating.

Their natural resources need some liberation and freedom from those stupid and poor sand farmers.

The Arab league basically begged until Saturday morning via the BBC

for the International allies to come in and protect the Pro-Democratic Fighters and People

from being slaughtered by surrounding Pro Gaddafi forces.

what the fuck are they talking about on the BBC ?

sometimes the BBC has a very divisive way of questioning people on their 5 second interviews, switching back and forth and then cutting to what Prince Wilhelm had for fucking Breakfast just in time, to confuse and degrade the whole fucking issue of the situation.

The seem to try to be devisive, when things are really quite simple.

Our world does not belong to be controlled by mad-men Hitler or Gaddafi

with Statues of crushed Planes in a Dictators fist standing to provoke the whole world. As long as Arseholes like that Gaddafi are alive, this planet will be full of shit, full of walls, borders, barbed wires and neverending wars...

People are sick and tired of taking any more of this shit.

End it once and for all!

Gaddafi needs to be neutralized like the Animal he is,

together with all the scum who want to go with him.

This Planet is no longer for trash like Gaddafi ,

this is Not a planet for the convenient use of elite Despots,

just because they feel they have the right to hold everyone else to ransom.

This world belongs to all of us,

this resources belong to all of us and they need to be secure,

since we are paying and have paid far to high a price for it all.

Gaddafi and all that senile rotten garbage like him need to be euthanized.

The world is far too small for these Arseholes to take control any longer !

Our skies need to be free again so people can travel and do what they

did before without fear of being wiped out by some mad dog like Gaddafi and his Regime.

kill the fucking bastard before I fly over there myself and put

the dog out of his misery !

A Neanderthal Man sitting in a Cave 130,000 years ago hunting and collecting,

travelling on foot, without Government or Taxes or other trappings,

had a far better quality of life than we have today!

We are slaves to sadistic Masters and lunatic Despots who hold us to ransom

and kill our loved ones, wifes Brothers sisters and children, without mercy.

we do nothing,we kept them in Power for far too long. WHY ?

It is time to fight back! Think about it...

Why "Operation Odyssey Dawn"?

There's a dead giveaway--"Operation Odyssey Dawn". Odyssey means "long, wandering and eventful journey". Guess where these warlords are heading on this "journey"?...right on through the mideast, and beyond.

They already named the next phase of the Iraqi occupation Operation New Dawn

It appears the US under UN control has attacked another country. The provocation appears to be the protection of the citizens of that country from the leadership/military of that country. However Bahrain has been invaded by Saudi Arabia oppressing and possible killing their citizens. The citizens of both of these countries are demonstrating against suppressive governments. The US policy is conflicted.

To make matters darker, the President of the US is on holiday out of the country. He left while taking his Nation to war and while the Japanese need absolute focus of the US to assist them in a fatal National crisis.

The question of Jessie Jackson of “what the hell do you think you are doing” should be followed with --- can you think--.  Then the question of ----do you understand---.

The difficult job of President in these times is beyond the capability of most humans. To make deadly mistakes or to have a mental breakdown would be understandable. However, the Nation does not have time for this.

It may be time for Joe Biden to assume leadership of our Nation.

Honestly I don't think it's that hard. The job description thingy called the Constitution tells the public servants what they can and can't do. Their job is to administer the laws and keep it between the white lines and not get too greedy. We reserve the right to fire them if they can't follow instructions.

Obama is just an idiot who wants to make things up as he goes along and ignore his job description.

you know I despised the US and the UK in 2001 for invading Iraq and Afghanistan,

because they never to my mind had a complete UN mandate.

However when this mid-east conflict happened first in Tunisia and the Egypt

Yemen, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and now Lybia, I could see that something

very important was happening in this world.

This is not just about the people of the mid-east !

This is about human rights for all of us.

This is about our way of life, that anyone can be free

and live free and be what they want to be in this world without chains.

I am German, but I have lived in France, Italy ,Russia ,Panama and

Bali Indonesia,China and now since a few years here in Australia.

I call this Planet my home.

I am also a pilot and I hate when I am told that I can not fly into

that part of a bird-free blue sky,

because there's just another fucking war on and I might get shot down.

Fuck Gaddafi, let him drown in this earth's Oil,

I don't need his Oil, as long as I can walk, I even give up flying...

as long as I can go and live, where and how and when I want

and that's what Life is really all about.

I don't mind paying a reasonable price of freedom,

but I wont be put into submission and told where to go

by a fucking lunatic Hitler !

because I much rather just gonna fucking kill him

and I know right now, the whole world feels exactly the same.

This is not about Oil,

this is about Freedom from Hitler clones and totalitarian Regimes !

This is all about Freedom and the pursuit of happiness and

universal human rights !

A "colour revolution" in Indonesia will soon come to your MSM screens. I wonder what pretty colour the CIA will choose for the "revolutionaries" to wear this time? (We should check with China on any recent orders for large consignments of coloured scarves and sarongs to Indonesia).

you suppose the Arab League wanted coalition jets to just fly around and give Gaddfis air defenses something to shoot at? Talk about unclear on the concept. No fly means no radar lock-ons period, and the best way to keep them from locking on your aircraft is to hit their facilities. So Gaddafi put civilians, human shields near these places, gee Hussein would never do anything like that, or build a radar site near a school. PREDICTION: all of ME will be a no-fly zone in ten years, including every country in the Arab League.

I've been waiting for something to happen
For a week or a month or a year
With the blood in the ink of the headline
and the sound of the crowd in my ear
You might ask what it takes to remember
When you know that you've seen it before
Where a government lies to her people
And a country is drifting to war

And there's a shadow on the faces
Of the men who send the guns
To the wars that are fought in places
Where their business interests run

On the radio talk shows and the T.V.
You hear one thing again and again
How the U.S.A. stands for freedom
And we come to the aid of a friend
But who are the ones that we call our friends--
These governments killing their own?
Or the people who finally can't take any more
And they pick up a gun or a brick or a stone
And there are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire

There's a shadow on the faces
Of the men who fan the flames
Of the wars that are fought in places
Where we can't even say their names

They sell us the President the same way
They sell us our clothes and our cars
They sell us everything from youth to religion
The same time they sell us our wars
I want to know who the men in the shadows are
I want to hear somebody asking them why
They can be counted on to tell us who our enemies are
But they're never the ones to fight or to die
And there are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire

7.02pm: The ceasefire statement issued by the Libyan regime was accompanied by a call on the country's tribes to take part in a march from Tripoli to Benghazi for talks on reconciliation

A regime spokesman, Ibrahim Moussa, read out the statement, saying: "We, the Popular Social Leadership of Libya, recommend to the armed forces to announce an immediate ceasefire to all military units."

6.54pm: Muammar Gaddafi's armed forces have announced that they will begin a ceasefire at 7pm (GMT).

It's the second announcement of a ceasefire by the regime's forces, but one thing that might also be significant about the statement, which was announced at a press conference in Tripoli, is the fact that there doesn't appear to be any mention of Gaddafi.

Could it also be an attempt to suggest that the initiative is in the hands of a wider circle than just Gaddafi himself?

Qaddafi had it so good until the Jasmine Revo days. Not only was he a billionaire and a celebrity, he masterminded global terrorism for decades and got away with it (Pan Am flight 103 Lockerbie, 1988; Munich Olympics massacre, 1972). He had the US eating out of his hands: when he came for a visit to the US in August, 2009, he wanted to pitch a Bedouin tent in Central Park. Instead he parked it on his luxurious estate in exclusive Englewood, NJ.

He thought it would go one forever. US and Western allies tacitly approved all he did, in part for the oil, in part because it's always been preferable to them to have a corrupt dictator in place who they could deal with direct and funnel money to, as opposed to a democracy where oil might not come so cheap.

It's surreal to watch the Pentagon Pirates explaining the plunder LIVE on the tele. Iraq all over again. "We are bombing them in order to protect the Libyan people". WTF

What country will they bomb next? Mexico in order to protect the Mexican people? Protecting them from evil corn, taking over Monsanto corn. Axis of evil corn.

Actually, the U.S. was caught  redhanded smuggling heavy weaponry into Mexico. The U.S. government came up with a lame excuse of "operation fast and furious" according to which the weapons were smuggled in order to figure out the route they take.  Then they acknowledged the majority of those weapons were unaccounted for.  The truth is that the U.S. is arming both the narcos and a soon to emerge merry band of "rebels who want democracy".  U.S. ambassador has been told to leave and things are about to get nasty.

The race for oil is global.  Either that, or we are on frijoles peak, and nobody's been told.

Sarkozy is hard up for a Nobel Peace Prize also, looks like.

We should have invaded Canada instead...full of resources, much closer and not nearly as mean as Gadaffi. However, I share Mr O's desire to be in a warm weather climate.

Obviously, the Arab League was bribed into joining the attack-Libya-coalition in order to protect the declining moral image of western powers to the Arab street. “Just give us a couple of planes, that’s all you’ll have to provide,” some Frenchman probably explained.

So, everything was fine as the bombs began to fall except at the same time, Saudi military power rolled into Bahrain and the image of Saudi power crushing Bahrain’s masses-yearning-to-be-free sullied the coalition’s motives and hit Arab League officials like ice water in the face.  IMO.

So the image went out from North Africa to Iran and all the way around the Gulf:  Here was the coalition of Arab royalty joining now with U.S. fire power to attack another sovereign Muslim country, and in the image felt on the Arab street, this linked militarily the forces of Arab royalty and the United States…translation: Arab leaders and the goals of Israel.

How 'bout we call all our troops home and invade Manhattan and have summary executions for all the Banksters, rating agency heads, academic economists for hire and regulatory bureaucrats ?

How come the Arab league needs white people to police Muslims?
