Iran Claims It Has Evidence bin Laden Died Of Illness "Long Ago"
And so the battle of propaganda begins: on one hand we have the US government demanding the population take a leap of faith that Osama was killed then promptly converted into lead-containing fish food, now Iran has stepped up to the plate claiming it has 'evidence' that bin Laden was in fact dead long ago. that al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden had died of disease long before the
United States' alleged raid on the terrorist, FARS Iranian news agency
said. "We have accurate information that bin Laden died of illness some time ago," Moslehi said." And since Osama's body was promptly dumped at sea, and Obama decided to not release any pictures of the corpse, the conspiracy brigade will surely have a field day with this one. We can only hope Iran's evidence takes a shorter time to produce than WikiLeaks' Bank of America "killer" expose.

Neocon intellectual Frum lays out the neoconservative case for switching from Afghanistan to Pakistan. His logic, which he presents persuasively, is what is driving many in Washington to heat up the Pakistan kettle.
What are some of the big flaws in his logic? First, it takes the war on terror for granted as a sound aim. Second, it takes for granted that a nation-state that “harbors” terrorists itself is guilty and is a collectively-terrorist entity itself. The whole nation becomes subject to U.S.-applied force. Third, he assumes that he and others in power know who these terrorists are, how bad they are, what they’re planning, of what they are capable, and which nation-states are harboring them. Fourth, the benefits of forcing these terrorist-harboring nation-states to bend to the U.S. will are worth the costs. It’s ok if the state under pressure or attack by the U.S. devolves into civil war, if its citizens are killed, if their standard of living falls off a cliff, and if refugees and tent cities are generated. It’s ok if terror incidents inside this target country dramatically expand. It’s ok if trillions in American wealth are expended on the effort. It’s ok if America becomes a police state to prevent retaliation. Fifth, he assumes that endless international violence applied at the will of the U.S. is the means to global peace and security.

We might ask ourselves how we would be reacting if Iraqi commandos landed at George W. Bush’s compound, assassinated him, and dumped his body in the Atlantic.

It’s increasingly clear that the operation was a planned assassination, multiply violating elementary norms of international law. There appears to have been no attempt to apprehend the unarmed victim, as presumably could have been done by 80 commandos facing virtually no opposition—except, they claim, from his wife, who lunged towards them. In societies that profess some respect for law, suspects are apprehended and brought to fair trial. I stress “suspects.” In April 2002, the head of the FBI, Robert Mueller, informed the press that after the most intensive investigation in history, the FBI could say no more than that it “believed” that the plot was hatched in Afghanistan, though implemented in the UAE and Germany. What they only believed in April 2002, they obviously didn’t know 8 months earlier, when Washington dismissed tentative offers by the Taliban (how serious, we do not know, because they were instantly dismissed) to extradite bin Laden if they were presented with evidence—which, as we soon learned, Washington didn’t have. Thus Obama was simply lying when he said, in his White House statement, that “we quickly learned that the 9/11 attacks were carried out by al Qaeda.”
Nothing serious has been provided since. There is much talk of bin Laden’s “confession,” but that is rather like my confession that I won the Boston Marathon. He boasted of what he regarded as a great achievement.
There is also much media discussion of Washington’s anger that Pakistan didn’t turn over bin Laden, though surely elements of the military and security forces were aware of his presence in Abbottabad. Less is said about Pakistani anger that the U.S. invaded their territory to carry out a political assassination. Anti-American fervor is already very high in Pakistan, and these events are likely to exacerbate it. The decision to dump the body at sea is already, predictably, provoking both anger and skepticism in much of the Muslim world.
It’s like naming our murder weapons after victims of our crimes: Apache, Tomahawk… It’s as if the Luftwaffe were to call its fighter planes “Jew” and “Gypsy.”

Uncontroversially, his crimes vastly exceed bin Laden’s, and he is not a “suspect” but uncontroversially the “decider” who gave the orders to commit the “supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole” (quoting the Nuremberg Tribunal) for which Nazi criminals were hanged: the hundreds of thousands of deaths, millions of refugees, destruction of much of the country, the bitter sectarian conflict that has now spread to the rest of the region.
There’s more to say about [Cuban airline bomber Orlando] Bosch, who just died peacefully in Florida, including reference to the “Bush doctrine” that societies that harbor terrorists are as guilty as the terrorists themselves and should be treated accordingly. No one seemed to notice that Bush was calling for invasion and destruction of the U.S. and murder of its criminal president.
Same with the name, Operation Geronimo. The imperial mentality is so profound, throughout western society, that no one can perceive that they are glorifying bin Laden by identifying him with courageous resistance against genocidal invaders. Funny, I'm sitting here with Bin Laden as we speak and he is laughing out loud.
Clearly a deal was cut with what remains of Al-Qaeda. Bin Laden gets to be officially dead and the new leadership takes over, while Obama claims the credit and gets the political capital. I'd bet that the remainder of the deal involves a terrorist "incident" around election day. Good for incumbents, you know.
After all, they need each other. What's a government or a movement without an arch-enemy? You gotta keep the rubes baffled with something.
According to one Egyptian newspaper, when Osama died, his last prayer was said and he was buried in Afghanistan. Some 30 people were at that procession. Iran might have one of those people and he might remember the grave. It will be fun if Iran takes some 10 to 15 people from around the world and take them to the grave, exhume and take DNA sample, live on TV.

I look at zerohedge not giving any credibility to so called evidentiary conspiracy theories (aka hidden or unpopular truths with supporting evidence) akin to Wikileaks being a 9/11 truth denier (but no comment on the factual data about building 7 and suh).
a) There is ample evidence that bankers, politicians, the US government and their MSM propaganda arms intentionally lie to us on a daily basis. There is really no foundation for believing them as a group. They seemingly lie to make their lives easier and better at the expense of others.
b) There is no evidence that I know of that the so called conspiracy theorists intentionally lie to us. They seemingly go out of their way to make their life harder for no apparent benefit, subject themselves to ridcule and even put themselves in harms way to do what they believe is right.

Yawn. I first came to Zerohedge a few weeks ago when it was performing an invaluable service by keeping the Fukushima catastrophe in the spotlight after the mainstream media, with its gnat-like attention span, had lost all interest.

The administration is now reporting via NPR that Bin Laden was killed relatively early in the raid...but just wait until tomorrow when we learn Bin Laden was actually killed relatively late in the "raid". He also had a gun and there was a firefight according to "senior administration officials". Oops, wait he didn't have a gun according to another "senior official", speaking on the condition of anonymity. Oh wait, breaking news Bin Laden has died a peaceful death due to an untreated lung complication, the Pakistan Observer reported on December 26, 2001. Nope it was renal failure in 2001 according to Dr. Paul Craig Roberts or there's former "senior administration official", Dr. Stephen Pieczenik, reporting that Osama Bin Laden had died of Marfan syndrome back in July of 2002. How about Pakistan's Benazir Bhutto? Bhutto was interviewed in 2007 by David Frost on Al Jazeera and stated Osama Bin Laden had been murdered by Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh. Bhutto was assasinated one month later.
