Iran Complains Of Nuclear Attack Threat By US To Which Defense Intelligence Chief Retorts Military Action Against Iran "Not Preferable"
According to the Defense Intelligence Chief, Iran could produce enough highly-enriched uranium for one nuclear bomb in as little as a year and has stated that all options to rein in Iran are on the table but military options are not preferable. This is happening as Iran has complained to the UN over a nuclear attack threat by the United States. According to Reuters, "Iran complained to the United Nations on Tuesday over what it called a U.S. threat to attack it with atomic weapons, accusing Washington of nuclear blackmail in violation of the U.N. charter." This ties in rather well, with our report from a week ago in which the Former Deputy Defense Minister of Israel said that Israel may have no option but to attack Israel (with nuclear weapons) by November. After yesterday's evacuation of Israeli citizens from the Sinai Peninsula, the Middle-East is once again heating up... Hopefully it does not reach 6 milllion Kelvin.
More from Reuters:
A letter from Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Khazaee to U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the Security Council and General Assembly presidents called on the United Nations to "strongly oppose the threat of use of nuclear weapons and to reject it." Statements by Obama and other U.S. officials were "tantamount to nuclear blackmail against a non-nuclear-weapon state" and breached U.S. obligations under the U.N. charter to refrain from the threat or use of force, Khazaee said. "Such remarks by the U.S. officials display once again the reliance of the U.S. government on (a) militarized approach to various issues, to which the threats of use of nuclear weapons are not a solution at all," he added. They also posed "a real threat to international peace and security and undermine the credibility" of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, the envoy said.

That would be ironic. Attack Iran with nuclear weapons because they were trying to make nuclear weapons.
"in order to save the village, we had to destroy it"
In order to save MY village with MY family in it, I had to destroy a DIFFERENT village, run by a lunatic that had threatened repeatedly to destroy MY village.
Seems rational to me.
Like Iraq?
And they were trying to make nuclear weapons, because they were under threat of being attacked by nuclear weapons.
Obama can't attack Iran or he will have to return his peace prize payola. Not gonna happen. Now Israel is a different story.
Actually, he would get it again this year. The Truman principle: shock and awe so we don't have to lose more lives invading. Except that we would invade either way - it's the only thing separating our sandbox theaters. Not to mention Israel has a grudge. Not to mention the USA doesn't really care how many brown people die over there anyway. Not to mention the military-industrial complex enjoys new opportunities to test kewl new weapons.
Death from above, bitches!

Agreed. Bama scorches Iran and he gets N-2.
I second the moon.
"Statements by Obama and other U.S. officials were "tantamount to nuclear blackmail against a non-nuclear-weapon state" and breached U.S. obligations under the U.N. charter to refrain from the threat or use of force, Khazaee said."
Dude, ya got it all wrong. When the US does it, all is good and righteous. When friends of the US do it, at worse someone mis-spoke, assuming they even admit they did or said anything. But, when anyone else does it, hell, fire and damnation will rain down upon their heads with all the fury that can be mustered.

I've also heard that Iraq is seeking significant quantities of uranium from Africa.
Huh? Not Iraq? Oh. Iran.

But Iran...
In Iraq we lacked a paper trail for WMD's that would not have our (our being the U.S.A.'s) finger prints all over the documents...
The Russian's as the second largest producer of oil would be happy to see the Middle East get irradiated, broadly speaking... and thusly... would happily provide the paper trail for the equipment that they the Russian's did provide and how it was easily modified by Iran (who is now out of warranty because of the modifications). http://www.eia.doe.gov/cabs/Russia/Background.html

Russia-Iran nuclear deal signed ***(Sunday, 27 February, 2005, 12:56 GMT)***
Russia and Iran have signed an agreement for Moscow to supply fuel to Iran's new nuclear reactor in Bushehr.
Under the deal Iran has to return spent nuclear fuel rods from the reactor, which was designed and built by Russia.
So, since we learned our lesson last time… and we will need to have good proof… due to the cycle of time between the invasions… we don’t have time to wait for a generation to forget and die off… thusly, paper trail or “Proof” not an issue…
Yes, Iran is going to have a change of leadership… will it be us (us being the U.S.A. proper) or will it be Israel? Israel can bomb the leadership and Mullah’s in short order… cruise missiles are accurate to 10 feet.. (more like 30 feet, but close enough) and in this massive one blow, decapitate the snakes many heads along with the most staunch supporters of what is the Iranian’s craziness… We should have stepped in during the election… but one crazy for another and all that… plus Israel is tired of being beaten on… they need a win, to keep up moral at home.
Anyone who says this is not happening… is lying to themselves. The best part is the eagle and the bear in the holy valley, ala George Bush the evangelical… he really might have been the anti Christ. Because there is no walking this back.
Why does Iran always come up like this right around options expiry week on USO? I'm not going to buy it this time, no more "out of the money calls as 'bomb Iran' insurance for me" - I have fallen for that two months in a row already.
FWIW, Jim Rickards recently did an interview where he postulated that Iran starts a terror/proxy war with Israel first, then the UN jumps in and stops it. This buys Iran time to finish the nukes. You can hear it on king world news.
"the Former Deputy Defense Minister of Israel said that Israel may have no option but to attack Israel"
Not trying to be nit-picky, but a little quick edit would make this more comprehensible on first read...
Israel may have no option except to attack israel.
What an idea!
LOL
All we need is a false flag...

Our war machine has reached it's limit to experiment on radical Muslims. We have proven that our robot machines can kill unmercifully at any level of enemy combat potential. We have the ability to invade at will. Drones with guided missiles make humans almost unneeded in the battle field. If we could just get the Navy to stop destoying the wrong ships.
Now we must take our war machines to a new level. It will be done on the Persians. The experiment is, can we deliver tactical nuclear weapons via unmanned vehicles to destroy specific targets without untold collateral property damage and deaths?
I believe we can, and will, as long as the Navy is not the party that pulls the trigger.

Fuck you JW. America will be a smoking hole in the ground financially and physically before much longer. We have so many treasuries and guns pointed at us it's rediculous. It's a snake within a snake. If the outside squeezes and the government squeezes us to fight back it'll be like trying to fight world war II only the bombers don't get layed before they ship off they get knifed. You just don't tell the entire world to sit down and shut up. They won't tolerate it. Nobodies ever fought a civil war and world war at the same time.

waterdog,
http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/munitions/sdb.htm , AirForce numbers suck balls... Navy is better... Marine's on target most... but on the ground Marine Pilot(s) that are embedded within the foot soldiers... a pilot calling in air support from the ground with a pilot's eye, view and reasoning makes for spot on delivery.
The Marine Pilot's are on ship which makes for a competition with the Navy Pilot's... which makes for the guys on the ground getting what they need faster and better delivered.
AirForce is the known weak link with regard to delivery, going back more than a few wars and beyond my short life. I have herd 40% to 60%... but they would say these numbers where produced without JDAM minimums in place.
Be well waterdog, JW
Ted Striker: My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow. We're bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We're coming in from the north, below their radar.
Elaine Dickinson: When will you be back?
Ted Striker: I can't tell you that. It's classified.
To paraphrase Lur:
"If you do not appease us we will raise the temperature of your planet one million degrees per day FOR SEVEN DAYS!"
I'm guessing this back and forth between the West and Iran is what's called "diplomacy"?
Just crossing the wires now...US official says Iran could have nuclear weapons in 3-5 years. They are playing things down for some reason.
They are playing this down because it is stupid.

This links to info on the first sustained nuclear reaction. It proved atomic bombs *might* be possible. The date? December 2, 1942. Of course, two and a half years later, the US had atomic bombs...after figuring out how to separate U235 from U238 (an incredible feat, imho) and designing the very first bombs (another incredible feat). Sure, the US was a rich country and threw a bunch of $$$ at this problem...but anyone who wants to build a bomb these days has much less to do. I can also remember a few times a high school student managed to come up with plans for a functional atomic bomb...I am sure this particular cat is out of the bag.
Got Nukes?
Obama wants Israel to sign nuclear non-proliferation treatyhttp://rawstory.com/rs/2010/0414/obama-israel-sign-nuke-treaty/
When the US talks peace, it means war.
I suspect that all this nuclear re-arranging of the deck chairs is so that when the ICBMs start falling we can say we played by the rules.
We shall see.
Right, or we call in "defense" even though we're usually on the offensive. We used to call it the War Department before they read Orwell and learned all the wrong lessons from it.
The lesson was only partially learned.
Consider: after the War department, it became the Defense department.
9,11 revealed that the Defense Department was not committed to the defense of the US soil but dedicated to the offense of other territories and such a department by the name of homeland territory defense department had to be created.
Through mistakes, I learn.
Conspiracy Theorist
Iran’s president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who said last month that the terrorist attacks in the United States on Sept. 11, 2001, were “a big fabrication,” wrote to the United Nations secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, on Tuesday to ask him to open an investigation into the events of that day.

A pre-emptive nuclear attack would be a pretty huge milestone in human history.
EVERYONE would want their own nuke deterrant after that. Don't think that petty dictators the world over don't notice what North Korea is able to get away with.
I always thought that the term "milestone" was used for good things. ?!?!?
Um yeah, poor choice of words. Not a good thing.

chet,
Take out all the idiots and there would be none left to worry about... enough polite, pussy foot make Love not War Bullshit! If a Country is a threat, take them out... tactical nukes are fine.. the problem is, unless Wall Street says its a money maker or money saver down the line... we as a Country will do nothing, the lobby is interested only in R.O.I...

"Take out all the idiots and there would be none left to worry about"
Ha ha. There's a million of them born every minute, JW. You can't eliminate the foreign idiots any more than you can escape all the idiots at your job, at the bar, in your extended family, on the roads, in city hall.
Only in video games can you just blow up an enemy and have that be the end of it. In real life, war is the ultimate tar baby.
I'm not preaching "love not war", just pragmatism.
You are severely brain damaged and you show the psychosis of "everybody" is an enemy and the only way to deal with people is force and fear of death.
If love is bullshit than may you never know any love for the rest of your days and may everything you do till you die be something you don't want to do but are forced to do it.
Won't happen, Iran is #3 oil producer and to nuke the area would skyrocket energy costs and destroy the economies of virtually the entire world.
Of course US MIL Intelligence is an oxymoron.
and would cause a surplus in the glass market.
I can see it now, false flag in Isreal, blame Iran. Then we would have to help put the proper dictator in place, I mean democracy ya and freedom.
Agree on false flag, but isn't Israel too busy doing that to Gaza/Sinai right now? Maybe Israel recently trained more Mossad agrents to help out?
I don't know, but our interest in controlling that oil supercedes everything. As you know the idea of us bringing democracy and freedom is hypocrisy. If N.Korea had oil we would be in there yesterday. They have atomic weapons and test them everytime they need money or food. Evil dictators are everywhere, but we cherry pick the ones we want to remove.

Notice what is going on here? Iran adheres to the rule of law, filing due complaints with international tribunals when they feel their rights are violated, while the US and Israel simply resort to violence, against all international law.
What's most humorous is the apologists for Israel who come out and condemn Iran. Don't you know that we observe and note your hypocrisy? Do you think these things go unnoticed?
I am Chumbawamba.
Iran is filling complaints with international tribunals specifically because they don't expect them to do anything. Meanwhile Iran is busy separating U-235 with centrifuges they recently publicly admitted were even faster than the old ones.
Time is on the side of Iran - and they are playing the international community for time.
Given Iran's neighborhood, I understand their desire for Nukes, it is perfectly rational. Threatening the first use would be the obliteration of Tel Aviv is not rational however. I would remind Iran of the US doctrine of Mutual Assured Destruction -- of course against Iran it would be (IAD) Iranian Assured Destruction, if they ever attacked the US or US ally. Then make sure the Iranian people are fully aware of that promise, let them build the bomb, and throw them out of the Non-proliferation treaty.
Of course because we will not do something like this Israel has to try something else or risk the potential annihilation of their country.
Yeah, it would be interesting to do a simple tally of the number of war hawk statements coming out of Iran, Israel and the US respectively, and then ask who really sounds like belligerent whack jobs.
To add, on Monday Iran asked the UN to look into the bombings of 9/11. This is the first time that a nation state has brought this to the head council of the UN.
The US coalition must wait for there to be a new moon to bomb Iran, because that is the only time the stealth bomber is operational. That could mean it happens tonight. However, they will most likely wait for a false flag attack like Pearl Harbour (done by sanctions), Northwoods (done by force), Gulf of Tonkin (done by force), or 9/11 (done by excessive force) to usher in a motive. Because the Tri-Lateral commission meet during the first week of May, the new moon on the 14th will be an opportune time. Even more opportune is June 12th, after the Bilderberg Group meets during the first week of June.
To add, if Iran goes to war, so does China, Russia, and India, unless they kick Iran out of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. I have no idea how China can get enough oil to maintain its infrastructure if Iran leaves. Russia is not online to fuel China.
Nobody really reading the article?
"...the Former Deputy Defense Minister of Israel said that Israel may have no option but to attack Israel (with nuclear weapons)..."
That would be quite ironic.
note that israel has not signed onto the nonproliferation treaty and thus the TRILLIONS in aid provided by usa has been entirely illegal.
