Israel Investigating Katyusha Rocket Attack
WSJ reports that Isreal is investigating a pre-dawn launch of "at least one Katyusha rocket which landed near the Jordanian port of Aqaba." Jordan notes the report with passing indifference, and goes back to buying ES and AMZN using Redi and Sigma X.
Explosions and flashes of light were heard in the neighboring Red Sea port city of Eilat, prompting security officials at Israel's Taba border terminal with Egypt to halt operation temporarily, said a spokeswoman for the Israel Border Authority.
Sweeps by Israeli police and soldiers in Eilat turned up no signs of damage in Israel territory from a rocket attack. Qatar news channel Al Jazeera reported that a missile had touched down in Aqaba.
A spokesman for the Jordan government declined to comment on the reports that rockets were fired from Jordanian territory.
If confirmed, it would be the first rocket attack in the Eilat-Aqaba vicinity in four and a half years. In Aug. 2005, militants fired rockets from that landed in Aqaba and near Eilat's airport.
