Israel Issues Warning To Citizens To Immediately Leave Sinai Peninsula, "Terror Attack Imminent"

Tyler Durden's picture

Are things between Israel and Egypt about to get really heated?

From BNO News:

JERUSALEM (BNO NEWS) -- Israel's anti-terror bureau warned on Tuesday that a terror attack in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula is imminent and all Israelis must leave the region. The warning message said, quoting intelligence sources, that a terror attack in which Israelis could be kidnapped is imminent, Israeli media reported.  "We call on all Israelis now in Sinai to leave at once and return to Israel," the warning said. "Families of Israelis now in Sinai are requested to make contact and update them of this travel warning."

More from Sky News:

Israel has issued an "urgent" warning to its citizens to leave Egypt's Sinai Peninsula immediately.

It comes after "concrete evidence" of an expected terror attempt to kidnap Israelis in the region.

The warning was issued by the Israeli prime minister's office.

It took the unusual step of calling on families of Israelis touring the Sinai to contact them.

Israel's anti-terror office has a standard travel advisory telling Israelis to stay out of the Sinai desert because of the threat of terror attacks.

However, thousands of Israelis routinely ignore the warning and go on holiday in the desert and along its Red Sea coast.

Egyptian security officials said about 35,000 Israelis are in the Sinai now, and they expected thousands more to arrive later this month.

In the unusually strong statement, the Israeli anti-terror office called "on all Israelis residing in Sinai to leave immediately and return home".

Families of Israelis residing in Sinai are being asked to contact them and update them on the travel warning.

In 2004, suicide bombers attacked Egypt's Taba Hilton Hotel, just across the Israeli border, and several campsites where Israelis are known to stay on holiday.

Dozens of people were killed and hundreds wounded.

Israel controlled the Sinai from its capture in the 1967 war until returning it to Egypt in 1982 in the framework of a peace treaty between the two nations.

Ps if anything does happen God forbid I'll post here if I learn anything. Going out right now to warn people.

Those of you marking down my comment, please read this carefully.

I am not defending Israel or claiming that this attack (which has not happened yet, if it does happen) must by definition be an Islamic terror attack.

Nor am I accusing CD of anti-Semitism -- only trying to figure out what his motivation would be for throwing out that kind of accusation.

My point was that I don't know what's behind it, and neither do any of you, and anyone pointing fingers at this point regarding a terror attack that hasn't even happened yet is jumping the gun.

This as the russian general warns israel to stand down while the Egyptions call out iran AND Israel on nukes. Netanyahu pulled out on summit for this very reason along with the escalating US estrangement. The old relaible Tuekey called ISrael the greatest threat to peace last week. Dubai assasination operation gone bad and over 2000 leaked secret documents by a military underling takes some of the shine off the vaunted intel capabilities. With all respect, those referencing a belief system that permits some to ascend to bliss while the vast majority of their fellow men are left behind to suffer through times of tribulation should be careful using the term "heartwarming."

If it is not true, it is harmless as no one will be left behind to suffer.

If it is true, it is not the Christians who make that decision.

The belief system itself doesn't enter into the equation.  It is, or it is not.  And either way, the Christian is not saving or damning anyone, as no one makes the choice for anyone but himself.

Ha ha ha.  There's a group trying to breed a flawless red cow in Israel right now for this very reason (it's from Revelations somewhere, I believe.)  I'm guessing this is among the more harmless Evangelical attempts to bring about the rapture.  Sending money to the settler movement is probably the fave.

I agree that is the case with most evangelicals.  Unfortunately, the few can aggregate into quite a stream of support for settlers in particular.

And of course you just need a few mega-rich people (jew or gentile) to provide a lot of support for counterproductive policies over there.

This was your first comment which has since been removed / edited:

ML said "Shame on you, CD.  You're really going to write off a possible Islamic terror attack as a false flag -- as a pure knee-jerk reaction -- before it's even happened based on no evidence whatsoever?

What would motivate you to say something so horrible?  Are you anti-Semitic, or do you somehow not believe that the Islamic terrorism in the Middle East is not a real phenomenon?"

I'm not claiming that CD necessarily *is* anti-Semitic.  Maybe he isn't.

I'm asking what would motivate someone to make such an irresponsible comment about a terror attack that hasn't even happened yet, and may never occur.

What CD seems to be saying is that a possible terror attack against Israel can only be perpetrated by the Israeli government itself.

Is that not what he's saying?  It sure sounds that way to me.

And it seems to me that one would need to have one's head very deep in the sand to think that that must be the case.  One would have to know nothing about the Middle East to think that there are no countries or organizations capable of carrying out a terror attack against Israel.

Cheeky Bastard,

Of course if it's from Wikipedia it's obviously true.

I'm sure the Chinese would take no offense whatsoever to the very first sentence in that article

"The earliest civilizations in history were established in the region now known as the Middle East around 3500 BC"

The comments this thread has produced are in fact the very reason I found my way to Zero Hedge in the first place.  In my feeble attempt to escape the drivel that is passed off as intelligent "dialog" I came across an interesting web site which espoused "On a long enough timeline the survival rate for everyone drops to zero".  I thought to myself, now this is the truth, and I have been hooked ever since.  I would most certainly hate to lose that.

Of course even this discourse holds some measure of truth.  It simply highlights the acute polarity that exists between the peoples of this world.  When the religious and political rhetoric reaches a crescendo, then I guess it will finally be time to short.  Or perhaps go long.  Either way, we all lose.

But you won't get the other side of the story in public schools.

All is not what it seems...

Abraham Lincoln:

I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races, [applause]-that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied every thing. I do not understand that because I do not want a negro woman for a slave I must necessarily want her for a wife. [Cheers and laughter.]

WW, those of us who have a deeper understanding of American then 7th grade social studies know that the Civil War was not fought primarily over slavery; hell, the Emancipation Proclamation did not even apply to slave holding union states.

But what is the point here?  Or is this a non-sequitur of the type mr. chumba so despises?  Since you bring this up however, were poor whites of the south not brainwashed with the canard of being better then blacks so that slavery could survive?  Why else would poor land owners who could not afford slaves and had to work for themselves fight to protect an institution that depressed the cost of labor?  The South was just as good at brainwashing as the North.

Shame on you, ML.  You're really going to write off a possible flase flag terror attack as an Islamic terrorist attack -- as a pure knee-jerk reaction -- before it's even happened based on no evidence whatsoever?

What would motivate you to say something so horrible?  Are you anti-Islam, or do you somehow not believe that the Jewish terrorism in the Middle East is not a real phenomenon?

I'm actually of the opinion that it may indeed have been a "false flag" attack.  But even if it is, it's entirely irrelevant to the subject of this particular attack.

For the folks on this thread to point fingers at Israel at this point about an attack that no one knows anything about (and may not even happen!) is just irresponsible.

Your reply is by sarcastically insulting me?  Oh and your point is well taken!  You understand that those stories of men living to be 300 years old and such are fairy tales.  You understand that right?  You understand they deal with metaphors, as to make points?  You understand the underlying thoughts behind culture, and awareness of synergies, right?  You understand that the trinity is the most ancient symbol we have, and that it is no coincidence that the "Israelis" stole the word straight from the culture that they came from, right?  Do you know what the ark of the covenant is?  Do you know what the Argonaut is?  Same thing bud.  The Egyptians had one, and then the Jews had one.  Because cultures use the same symbols.  The Druids had the Trinity, and then Jesus used the trinity.  They all use the trinity.  The Egyptians, as well as druids, discussed it as "The father, the mother, and the son".  Then the Christians turned it into "The Father, The son, and the holy spirit."  You get that cultures pass down their knowledge, right?  Just as there were many "Christs" before Jesus...then there was Jesus.

I am probably wasting my time here, as you will probably now go watch cartoons or whatever you need to do to stay in an unnatural alpha state.  'Now let us discuss cartoons.'  GO READ A BOOK!

Ooof. I hit a nerve, eh Spicoli.  Enlighten me.  If "Israel" means in Hebrew "He wrestles with God" (and yes, I did wiki it for convenience, but I have long known that), what does that have to do with Egypt?

I can see your argument for "El" (though in this case it is short for Elohim, but perhaps there is a relationship).  But Isis and Ra?  What is your source?  They never mentioned this on Bugs Bunny or Veggie Tales, so perhaps I missed it.

Is this the Jordan Maxwell theory?  The guy that says Spock's Vulcan hand symbok (see I don't always watch cartoons) is a secret masonic sign?  And yes, I had to look him up.  I usually fall asleep while Coast to Coast is on.

not to get into the emiddle of this too much...  but i have studied a decent bit and the ancient israelites worshipped a number of gods before deciding Yaweh was their main man.  They had similiar harvest festivals and other activities similiar to the other polytheists of the time...  So I wouldn't doubt that Ra (or some god just like him) the sun god was in their pantheon.  Never heard this trinity bit though...

Israel being one with god.  Interestingly you have the trinity symbol as one symbol expressing the three components of humanity, and those three are with god if you will.  A man and a women hook up, and then they have a child.  Easy math.  Then this family must overcome the bliss and suffering of life and it is this experience that wrestles with god(s), is it not?

Did you not try to understand anything that I wrote with sincerity about how cultures have passed down beliefs through the ages?  It is demagogical to think it was the Jews or any religion that created such words and symbols alone.  You understand there were many cultures that referenced spiritual oneness with god before Judaism, do you not?  Humanity, for lack of a better word (Human and huwomanity?), goes back tens of thousands of years.  We created the concepts of wrestling with gods way, way, way before the Jews were a twinkle in Sir Moses' eye!

And you do not find it fascinating, as I do, that the word Israel, which means 'wrestle with god', is a combination of the precursor gods, those that the original Jews studied in Egypt?  Just as the work Ar-Go-Naut translates to Ark-of the-Covenant?  The ark is a boat by the way.  It was viewed when the moon was as it was on March 17th of this year, looking like a boat sailing the heavens.

Are you going to continue to cite cartoons as shots at me?  And also take more shots at me by asking if I reference others?  Who are you referencing?  Strict scripture....you are thinking the way you had been taught to think....good little robot.  Go read multiple books, and open your mind.  You are living by one strict telling of history.  History is much larger than you can imagine.

You also did not answer the question, what is your source?  You simply repeated it.  I had never heard the Isis Ra El theory and so looked it up.  It appears to have come from Jordan Maxwell as best as I can tell.  But since you have the background, I'll ask you, what is the source?  Is it from somewhere other than Maxwell?  That is not a shot (though admittedly the Spicoli reference was, given your "you may strain yer brain, maaaan" comment.  It's just for fun, and seems fair if you are going to make fun of my cultural (TV) references.)

You do realize of course that the transliteration into the Roman alphabet of both the Egyptian god Isis and the Hebrew word Israel start with 2 totally different phonemes right?

Israel in Hebrew is spelled with the first letter being a "yud", which is a consonant Y sound, and the entire word is pronounces "yee-srah-el".  Given that there are in the Hebrew alphabet the same letters (and vowels, which are marked under the letters if neede) to make the Egyptian pronunciation of "Isis", this is laughable.

Have you ever wondered how "they" manage to get anywhere the subject of Israel comes up so quickly?

Perhaps this article from September 2006 could provide a little insight into that phenomenon:

Pro-Israel lobby targets BBC online poll

'Megaphone' lobbyware mobilisation

By Chris Williams

Posted in Music and Media, 6th September 2006 11:18 GMT

Free whitepaper – Systems management simplified

BBC History Magazine was forced to remove an online poll after it was targeted by a project aimed at influencing internet opinion in Israel's favour.

The Give Israel Your United Support (GIYUS) website hosts a downloadable desktop tool called Megaphone. The program alerts users to opinion polls and "talkback" features on news sites so they can respond with pro-Israel views. In turn, users can alert GIYUS operators to any opinion polls they think should be targeted.

The Jerusalem-based World Union of Jewish Students launched GIYUS and Megaphone on 19 July, a week after Israel launched air attacks in Lebanon.

The long-running BBC History Magazine poll posed the question: "Do you think holocaust denial should be made illegal in Britain?" Soon after it was targeted by Megaphone, the poll was pulled. The magazine declined to speak to The Register about the episode.

Prior to contacting The Register, our source corresponded with the magazine. Staff writer Robert Attar wrote at the end of August: "I am aware about this situation. I had a look at their site and all they have done is encouraged their members to vote on the polls which seems legitimate to me. It would also be extremely difficult to prevent groups of people voting in this way. As our polls are not used for any scientific or academic purpose I don't see the problem."

Three days after the launch of Megaphone, Amir Gissin, public affairs director of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote to pro-Israel or "Hasbara" organisations to urge them to back the new tactic.

Dear friends,

Many of us recognize the importance of the Internet as the new battleground for Israel's image. It's time to do it better, and coordinate our on-line efforts on behalf of Israel. An Israeli software company have developed a free, safe and useful tool for us - the Internet Megaphone.

Please go to www.giyus.org, download the Megaphone, and you will receive daily updates with instant links to important internet polls, problematic articles that require a talkback, etc.

We need 100,000 Megaphone users to make a difference. So, please distribute this mail to all Israel's supporters.

Do it now. For Israel.

Amir Gissin
Director Public Affairs (Hasbara) Department

GIYUS currently claims 24,000 Megaphone users.

Comparing Megaphone to pro-Palestinian blogs designed to rally support, in comments (http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1154525982026&pagename=JPost%...) to the Jerusalem Post on 31 August, Gissin said: "Why can they do it, but we need to sit quietly? The Internet is the communications medium of the future. The government is not behind this initiative, but I can only be happy it exists."

One Megaphone alert dispatched in August said: "Ask the UN to re-examine its position on the Qana incident. Remind the UN that Reuters admitted some of the Qana photos are faked, and that Hezbollah manipulates and uses innocent Lebanese civilians as human shields."

Qana was the scene of a devastating airstrike which killed dozens of civilians, including many children. Israel was widely condemned and the UN security council expressed "shock and distress" at the action.

Other interested parties have called for the initiative to try and stay under the radar. Former Israeli consul-general in New York Alon Pinkas told the Jerusalem Post: "Once it is out there that these are organized talkbacks, then anytime anything positive appears on the web, people will say it is manufactured in Israel."

While the loss of the BBC History poll is relatively inconsequential in the grand scheme, it points to a new highly organised mass manipulation of technologies which are supposed to be democratising and encouraging free expression by individuals.

Megaphone has no registration or identity check, so nothing would stop those opposed to Israel downloading Megaphone and using its alerts to voice opinions against its activities, however. Inevitably, a hacked version already exists which replaces Israeli flags with Palestinian ones and alters some of the text.

However it is used, Megaphone is effectively a high-tech exercise in ballot-stuffing. We're calling it lobbyware. ®

The US economy is of consequence, but this is the future of global energy security underwriting at stake. I'm sure they see even domestic unrest and civil war at home as an acceptable consequence in the long run, or even a chance to further prove their ability to "secure". After all, this will determine the world power structure for the next century and a half, at least. Not only that, Iran already denominates/sells its oil and natural gas in Euros and we've been running harsh trade sanctions on them for months with gasoline prices still in the acceptable range.

Their oil may be a factor in the global supply and price, but we have more than enough of the rest of OPEC and the market in our pocket to offset that in doses until certain issues like ceasefires and peace treaties from a close but militarily uninvolved position can be negotiated. For now we will hold the prospect of personal invasion up to pressure the Chinese and in the long term look to destabilize Iran by proxy enough to queer the IPI until the TAPI is up and running at its second stage pumping capacity. Also, If we become the hand that keeps a proven hostile Israel at bay, do we not also become the underwriter of Iran's energy supply in the eyes of the world?

Love your name.  I was just thinking how Cheeky and Chumby are Internet Tough Guys and saw your name.  Big talkers over the internet.  Whoopee.

This thread also makes me understand why there has been animosity in the Middle East for hundreds of years and there will always be such.  Nothing said here will change anyone's mind.

Wow, it sucks being cancer, doesn't it?  If zionists don't like the chemotherapy that their host is using to cure itself then maybe they should just go find another body to infect?

Islam is the greatest cancer in all of human history.  Thankfully, chumbawamba types, fools, will eventually succeed in their desire to destroy Israel, which in its last moments will nuke (depopulate, leaving us all that oil) the entire Middle East with its Samson plan.  I imagine chumbawamba is a very poor chess player.

Uh, no.  What you confuse as "chess" is actually checkers.

In this case, Israel should know that blowback is a bitch.  Literally.

Let them use their precious "Samson Option".  Go ahead.  I dare them.

I am Chumbawamba.
