IT Upgrades
Welcome to the new servers! We've upgraded hardware to help us through the next phases of development. As with any move of this size, there's bound to be (minor) issues; feel free to email us @tips if you notice anything -- we'll be working hard to get everything ship shape as quickly as possible.
Update: We really need to thank Portlane (portlane.com) for helping us make this happen; they're a phenomenal resource.
We appreciate your continued support!

phewww, just made it.
For TD, MS...

Great work
ALWAYS grateful for your efforts!!!! Many thanks!
Second that.
Tyler, in order to reduce the server load, you might want to consider a two step process to show comments. Many readers just read your posts. A second tab to show comments (like WSJ.com) would probably cut your CPU load significantly. From a user perspective it's only one extra click -- but it would probably save you bundles.
ZH = "Veni, vidi, vici"
Thank you!
Fabulous! Way to go TD! Look forward to even more time on the site.
100% off-shore Baby!
May you continue to connect the hearts and minds of our globe.
If you haven't already done so, fellow reader, consider coughing up a buck or two to help in defraying costs (where else can you find so much great stuff under one roof?). Surely you've wasted more money on some useless piece of crap that didn't give you as much satisfaction as this site, so what's a buck or two? (yes, I've already contributed)
http://www.zerohedge.com/content/donate-zero-hedge
I sent 2 gold coins in the mail anonymously, I wiped off the envelope inside and outside so as not to leave hoof prints. I mailed them to your address on Liberty St.
Or at the very least click through the ads on a regular basis. Every bit counts.
Wow... how dumb do I feel!
Never even gave it a thought (to hit the ads)... hope everyone sees this... thanks!
Gotta go... shopping!
I accidentally hit Waldorf many times, but I always enjoyed the site of their peaceful layaways (serenity now!). As for the Cougars, of course I hit that one! But only once, as it wasn't all that or a bag of chips.
So I go and hit on the CitiFX Pro banner and up pops this ad with a pic of what looks like a tanned and trim Madoff in prison orange looking at what appears to be a computer screen.
I sent three poster-sized replicas of Glenn Beck's greatest flow charts and diagrams. One is a flow chart that equates Obama to Hitler. The other is a series of pie charts that lead one to believe that Obama is Satan. The third is a naked picture of Glenn Beck, completely covered in oatmeal with a red rubber ball in his mouth.
I would send some money or make a donation, but Obama has given all my money to the homosexuals.
Bring back George Bush for a 3rd term! We need to restore fiscal responsibility to the White House!
Some Saturday night trance:

If you just dropped dead... that could be your donation and what a wonderful donation it would be!
I've not seen a political screen name on this thread. I find your screen name repugnant and asinine. Which can only mean one thing, you are part of the problem. If you don't think that both parties are in collusion in bankrupting this Country and stripping every bit of wealth from it's citizenry, you are delusional.
How a troll like you was ever accepted is beyond me!
AVP... You may have missed the /extreme and deliberately, bufoonishly offensive sarcasm on/ label at the beginning of the post and same disclaimer before screen name.
CD: Your right, I didn't notice (must be time for bed)...my apologies to the commenter :)
Red;
Forget "W". He wimped out on his National Guard duty.
We want Petraeus. My Navy stepson, who is into the half Iron Man says Petraeus smoked em all in the full Iron Man.
Look it up!
No more wimps!
Does buying a t-shirt count?
Hope it does. I bought one and would like to think the $45 did not all go to the screen printers and shipping co.
No
you guys should do a write up on drupal.org
great website...in my view the best!!! simple amazing...myself am very impressed....but again...it doesnt take much to impress me :)
really congrats and you got some great contributors from Leo to CD....
+1000!
Got details? Just curious what your page views are and what your running this on. Sometimes the tech people on a busy site will get on to speak to the geeks and let them know what they did when they make the improvement. I know it's a bitch. You have to be proud. Lets hear about it. Did you set up a seperate Database server? Do you have any clusters set up? What O/S are you running on? You know the stuff that cuases most people's eyes to glaze over.
At any rate , It's good to know you have spare bucks to invest in infrastructure. When things are breaking in the market this place has become the place to go. I think the next couple of months the guy with the checkbook is going to ask "again? But we just..."
Are you an asshole? Dude...the first rule of fight club is YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB...
Why not just ask them for a blood sample and GPS coordinates of their last known whereabouts? You must have been a real hit with the potheads in high school...
" You must have been a real hit with the potheads in high school..."
haha!
That view is derived from looking at the world through the prism of a smokin' glass bubble (usually loaded with tweak, crack or Goldman Sachs of pixie dust) brotherman.
+inf Cheeky
Yes, I am an asshole, but compared to you that is a compliment of the highest order. Some sites are proud of their set-ups some aren't . Some of us do this for a living so we are naturally curious as to what site views are coming in and what type of hardware is needed to put up with it in the unlikely event that we get so lucky as to find ourselves in the middle of a large spike in traffic. Is it sustained or is temporary. At what point do you make the determination to make the necessary investments in infrastructure and possibly personnel? We also are interested in knowing how the databases are tuned and variety of other mundane geeky shit that is quite apparent that very few here have any concept of whatsoever.
In fact it was Tyler Durden, Mr. FightClub himself who said that the ONE server they had would go into meltdown at 250K page views. That is probably not what whoever that was would want to make public. One FUCKING SERVER? That makes a DOS ( Denial of Service) attack easy to measure for anyone who wants to shut the site down. If the site upgrade was minor in comparison to a single server, I wouldn't mention it either. I wouldn't call the person an asshole for asking , especially if other people are curious to see if the site has the necessary funds to make the investment and may want to CONTRIBUTE so it doesn't go down at critical times during the day. Something like, we are in the process of making substantive upgrades in site infrastructure., We could use all the help we can get financially from our loyal readers.
That's how at least one site I know of is running on 16 servers, top notch personnel and has a net income in the millions. The start up capital came right from the viewers and the growth was through internally generated cash flow as the geeks kept us appraised of their needs. Now they have jumped the proverbial shark and are ranked in the top 100 of all sites on the internet in a mere 7 years with giving up equity.
Do you feel like foolish dickless assholes now?
DOS (denial of service) programs are available online for less than $50 to anyone who wants to shut a site down and inflict thousands of dollars of damage on a site and make it all look like it came from China. So its not really a secret but it does make a DOS harder when people at the site have hardened it and by what measures. Then attackers are somewhat put off on taking the risk of attacking. So if the upgrade has been substantial and the site is controversial as the one I mentioned above is, if substantial defense and countermeasures have been taken that's also not a bad thing to mention in general as the average pissed off hacker is probably not going to bother with a $50 download to shut the servers down.
+1000 more points in the favor of the asshole who wanted to know "is it safe yet?". -1000 points for the dickless wonders who jumped on him for asking.
If site management feels this info is not ready for prime time a simple"We feel this is confidential. We may be willing to email you the info after our next upgrade" would suffice especially to those of us who have made contributions and would gladly make them again if the management simply asked and told us why they needed it. That's polite. That's professional. That's what we would expect if people were that concerned.
Screaming " Asshole" at someone who simply asked the question is far easier than understanding why I asked those questions, isn't it?, you dickless POS. It's even more sickening when I see how outright shows of blithering ignorance from clueless wankers popularized by the so called knowledgeable people on the site. That's fucking embarrassing. Sometimes it takes some balls for sites to pull in front. Then this is called the Fight Club after the movie? As in Tyle Durden to justify the attack on a innocent question? WTF is that all about? Are you children?
It also casts a dim light on anything you might say in the future about your field of expertise. Are you an asshole who is just cut and pasting or do you really know something and are worth listening too?
No one knows everything about everything in a complicated and evolving field. It's the curious ones that want to learn more to get better. So on ZH, you are now an asshole for that? I'd say mentioning at what page load the servers went down is just a show of ignorance and all of this is a confirmation of that ignorance in the worst way possible. By all means revel in your public show of idiocy and confirm to people who criticize this site that there is nothing but a bunch of conspiracy theory dicks here. I hear Alex Jones makes a shit load of money selling that shit. I know many of you read it and swear by it. Do you know how much he laughs at you when he takes your money for his movies and other bullshit that the marketing team sites around brainstorming?
As for all the rest that jumped in because if the well thought of leaders stray out of their field to yell out incomprehensible insults, it's an apparent green light for everyone else to imitate them. Congrats on making this thread not a commentary on my question which was perfectly innocent but a commentary on the "experts" relative intelligence quotient that makes sites like this possible or not, whatever the case may be.
Absolute incredible show of group idiocy. Way to fucking go.
I have seen my fair share of idiots round here; but this is simply unparalleled. Plus; read what nopat [the wise] said. Incredible dude, simply incredible.
See my comment above and that ask yourself who the fucking idiot is.
See my comment above and than ask yourself who the fucking idiot is.

Cool... my packets are all clean and sparkly!
Hope you guys stay up and running during the next flash crash!

Thanks for throwing your weekend in it too.
I was having trouble getting on, and suspected the worst.I am relieved to hear the actual situation..Thank You very much Tyler et al.
Rock on... until the kill switch flips.
Thanks again Tyler...you rule.Totally.
Hey TD and co-conspirators, the new digs really lay down the bits.
Thank you for not just doing this, but actually making it keep up with all of the goobers coming in and scuffing up the clean floors.
For all, even though my wealth is tied up in silver shorts (not the investment vehicle, but the antibacterial underpants) I sent some electrical funds. And I ask everybody else to give until it feels good.
This is a good place for a secret clubhouse. Let's hold onto it and not let the grown-ups wreck it for us.
Why did you guys delete the comment from the "Drunken American Indian" guy? That was funny as hell, and I had a quick-witted response posted and everything!?!? What happened to defending free speech, etc.?
his/her comment was based on a system delay which did not allow his dns to clear in time. if he/she still believes he can not post comments, he/she is free to post a comment and confirm. Furthermore, we are very unclear what various ethnicities have anything to do with his ISP clearing his cache in time.
Hey, wait a minute...
Are you the guy who fixed my car?
I am not a tech-junkie by any stretch of the imagination. In saying as much, it seems like such an incredible coincidence that a technological anomaly would occur at the most opportune time (e.g. a "system delay which did not allow his dns to clear in time" given that his/her comment was the single most critical comment of yourselves on this entire thread -totally harmless, yet unintelligently sarcastic- PLUS had already been junked four times by the time I added my reply).
Nonetheless, I'll take the word of you and your Ombuds(wo)man at face value and second your curiosity as to "what various ethnicities have anything to do with his ISP clearing his cache in time" has to do with anything other than my cheap reference to an Audioslave song. I wasn't making a racial statement. Did you interpret it as much?
Don't read too much into this comment, but by all means, please respond by blowing me up accordingly... It's been a bad week. Keynesian policy has me over a barrel, and it's mostly the whiskey that is doing the talking right now. You guys do a great job. I just felt compelled to give you the needle a little bit for what I perceived as a (rare) lack of transparency...
Happy (upcoming) (Quasi-)Independence Day.
[Edit] it for what WAS a (rare) lack of transparency... which always seems to happen when things hit closest to home...
I am a "tech-junkie", by way of more than the latest i-pod app. Comment was well-removed; we reserve the right to edit at will, but further, it wasn't pertinent. It was funny, however. I'm all for transparency; the boxes are mine: come down on me with the wrath of Yahweh if you don't like what I'm doing :)
*claps*
Will a Jean-Claude-van-Damme-esque kick in the balls do the trick?
Come on, Cheeky... you know that Van Damme was a poser at best...
Obviously, you are NOT "all for transparency," otherwise the comment would not have been “well-removed” in the first place. Anyways…
Let’s take a step back and put this into perspective: the comment was ORIGINALLY removed because of “a system delay which did not allow his dns to clear in time.” NOW, the comment “was well-removed” because you “reserve the right to edit at will.” So which one is it?!
Strike one.
Furthermore, after I pointed out the disappearance of said comment, THE COMMENT (mysteriously!) REAPPEARS… and NOW under the profile of SOMEONE ELSE (not to mention WITHOUT MY ORIGINAL RESPONSE UNDERNEATH - including the cheap Wikipedia reference to the Audioslave song titled “Cochise” as described in my later comment)! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU GUYS DOING?!
Strike two.
You are absolutely right about the comment not being pertinent. AND, you’re quite well within your rights to “edit at will” (something I have defended as far back as October/November 2009; just ask Marla – unless, of course, you ARE Marla). BUT, your intentions for removing the comment (and behaving in the manner in which you have) IS pertinent to the overall scope of your site, along with the objective credibility (and from this points forwards, the lack thereof) that you maintain.
Strike three.
I would have had exponentially more respect for you had you simply stated “we don’t like people fucking with us, therefore the comment was deleted/'edited'. Period.” While that may be COWARDLY, it would at least be HONEST. BUT, just like a stupid politician, you guys got into trouble the minute you tried to cover it up, and I just happened to be the only person on this site perceptive enough not to let all of the above go unnoticed.
[We’ll see how long THIS comment lasts before getting “edited.”]
Finally, I’m not quite sure how I could ever think to come down on you with the wrath of Yahweh when you seem to have the market for that cornered.
Thanks for the lesson.
Man. Y so serious?
There's a server upgrade going on and your bitching about one comment and turnng it into a consipiracy theory and a civil rights march.
When I upgrade servers people were lucky if they got to keep their sanity.
When you upgrade servers, does the needle in the haystack suddenly get tracked down, then discarded? And didn't Freud once claim "there are no mistakes" or something like that?
Just sayin', that's all... Maybe I AM the nut job... Probably am! Certainly the macadamia nut in the chocolate chip cookie...
Any chance ZH could add a complement to the 'flag as junk' feature: 'flag as awesome'?
Yeah love the double-post feature that you added, nice.
And the use of Ajax, brilliant.
Connection: close, packet storm huh...
Tyler only hires the best.
good work all
donate and click through the ads, users, new iron isn't cheap.
A click with no interest in the ad is just click-fraud. Ethics aside, also, advertisers will eventually detect the behavior and will pay less for the clicks or will stop advertising here altogether.
If you want ZH to have some money, just donate a few bucks.
Please let us know if there is a PO Box or physical address where contributions can be made.
JR
"Please let us know if there is a PO Box or physical address where contributions can be made."
In all seriousness, when the crackdown comes won't that make it easier for us to be rounded up?
It may be. But I don’t want to be rounded up now.
JR - I propose that you may well already have been and are in an unaware state of home confinement.
Screen Some Rot !!
I wouldn't go back now for any amount of money (or anything else)
I get your point. But it’s a matter of being free to say what I want without running the risk of being professionally identified…not everyone I deal with in business agrees with free speech. Maybe I'll just buy a few caps and T shirts... But I see Tyler's point; if ZH lists a PO Box, it eventuallly too can be traced and there goes his anonymity...
It was a sad realization that I needed an all cash on the side minibook to do some misdirected web browsing. Still doesn't address the issue of donations, a subject I also well appreciate since not everyone is in the same spot of being a MK as I am. Thankfully. All my best JR.
bot a money order yesterday. USPS can't find its ass with both hands in a snowstorm. - Ned
I'm with JR on this one.
ZH! I'm sure you guys are smart enough to find a way for us non-techs to mail a check or cash or gold, etc.
A P.O. Box in a hostile country. Or a cut-out. You can change such addresses as necessary. You guys are smarter than the all 3 letters guys at .gov.
I just donated to fofoa, because he, at the request of one of his posters, showed a way.
I think that ZeroHedge could raise some real cash by letting us suspicious older guys get money your way.

TD, I really appreciate all you do. Hands down my favorite site on the internet. You should really consider some kind of tip jar.
...a tip jar that does not involve the execrable PayPal...
Thank you for this website. Thank you for letting us pretty much be whoever we want to be here. News, clues, and the blues all wrapped up in one blogolicious rag.
Thanks also to you fellow posters who keep it coming. I learn from you daily, sometimes hourly. ZH does this for us and this is ours.
Cheeky said something a few nights ago I disagreed with. He was tired of the same old stuff being said. I think the same old stuff needs to be said. Folks are working it out, from their own locations in their lives, geographies, and their familiarity with the events that led us here. Folks come here to practice, to see if their ideas make sense, and to explore new stuff. Now what I do support is Cheeky saying what he did and seeing where that takes us next. That can only be stimulating.
I am not always a mindful writer here. Sometimes I just want to joke around, be silly, vent. But knowing the effort these folks are putting into this, it does give me pause and make me want to step up to bat and be more mindful. Maybe that just means better jokes! :-)
The fat lady has not sung. The show has barely started. Thank you all for your company and the occasional hand holding you provide.
Peace and Love to you all, Bitches.
Great observations and nicely said MsCreant!
I agree we are still in the early innings of the game.
Peace, Love and Gold to you all!
Duplicate post, sorry.
MsCreant, thank you.

[Roy enters the room.]
Roy: (irritated) Hey! What is Jen doing with the Internet?
Jen: Moss said I could use it for my speech.
[Roy speaks to Moss in an edgy way.]
Roy: Are you insane? What if she drops it?
Jen: I won't drop it, I'll look after it.
Roy: No. No, no, no, no, Jen. [Takes the box back from Jen.] No, this needs to go straight back to Big Ben.
Jen: Big Ben?
Moss: Yep. It goes on top of Big Ben. That's where you get the best reception.
Jen: I promise I won't let anything happen to it.
Roy: No, Jen, I'm sorry. [Jen becomes woeful.] The elders of the Internet would never stand for it.
Hmm... could ZH's recent IT troubles also coincide with the HFT meltdown in the past few days? Did all machines go on strike or something? I mean, it's been what, 6 days since the last melt-up at the close on low volume?
Keep it cranked, brethren!!!
Here's some red meat for somebody: AP gets a load of docs on the cleanup at Plum Island....eeeeewwwwww......

Party on!
Would ZH care to share a "put up or shut up" #? Certainly 1 Tyler must have
run a pro forma on the back of a maxi er.. i pad. Your gentle readers know what they
paid for WSJ interactive before it became a POS. Your message is fresh and
informative. I even appreciate the histrionics. I have the silly hats and the silly cups.
My children want to know who the retarded man behind bars is on my mug. It's
embarrassing. Just toss it out there. USD please. No lira/dinar/zloty/pengo. Thx
Yippee! One happy coon here. Congratulations to the whole ZH crew.
I shall continue to make periodic contributions.
Just send the $$ to ZH instead of buying the crappy baseball cap with ZH logo produced by Cafe Express. The bumper sticker is fine though.
Cafe Express merchandise is fairly good quality.
That was not my experience. Patch/logo sewn on crooked and somewhat ill-fitting. I am not being overly critical either, hell I'll wear almost anything. But not that hat.
Lovin' every minute of it!

danke.
feels snaaaaappy!
Ahhh, the soothing comfort of Sacrilegity.
Tyler is the man!
Happy anniversary for the new site indeed. Thank you for being there (and here and everywhere). Beyond the (extraordinary) content, I strongly think the platform/forum afforded to the participants/readers here is equally important. Is it not this that consumed so much of the resources of the site previously?
Thank you, sincerely, for all you do here. And happy anniversary to all, whether joined "1 year 5 weeks" ago -- or this morning.
Now, is there a chance DJ Marla can take her out for a spin sometime soon?
Speaking of IT problems, does anyone know how to remove this document from the internet?
http://www.financialstability.gov/docs/transaction-reports/11-3-09%20Tra...
This lists all the banks that received government support from TARP. Obviously, the Bush administration was the chief architect of TARP, but it is important that US citizens believe that Obama is the only socialist/fascist/despotist/monarch/Marxist in Washington. Once we can convince everyone that Obama is Satan, then people will be less likely to recognize that the Republican party has completely lost its fucking nuts.
Any idea how to completely remove this link?
Once we get this link removed, then we can work on all the links to AIG, Freddie, Fannie, Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers, etc.
The last thing we need is for people to believe there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats.

skippy...back to my models now.
oYou can't raid 11 hard drives and you cant run 4 monitors of a single gpu.
So what JBOD controller you have?
the ATI 5970 is dual GPU in one box so 3 screens, the forth is connected to my parallels, didn't say they were all in raid, some are libraries, raid 5 for the rest (although I'm ready to SSD that, help with error rates, thank you Galois maybe I'll try raid 6)
My computer takes 150 watts full tilt. Yours takes 750 watts. Want to see who's still runs when the grid goes down?
V8 vs 4 cylinder....which burns up faster...green tech with the new consumption metrics, AMPs only when needed vs. old constant draw aka mine runs cool all the time even though its high performance. BTW i have 4 kids and bikes to run generators or see: http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/the-coconut-revolution/
Bear grylls first doco I might add, hell all ZH should see this. if they have not...good times!
addendum: 1500W power source, although its Amp's that are the killer in electronics aka friction or heat, death of any machine or living thing if too much for to long, kinda like fiat currancy lolz...eh TD.
it was about time you moved away from those damn NYSE servers :-)
cheers....may GOD bless u all at ZH
Interesting. Portlane is an Internet service provider out of Stockholm Sweden.
Nothing interesting in that fact. Believe me.
jb,
ya, that's what they want you to think...
(i love this place! - such fun :^)
IP address is 188.126.66.66. Did an address lookup and sure enough the server resides in Stockholm Sweden.
So we all have " Stockholm Syndrum " here at ZH?
Probably fewer at ZH with Stockholm Syndrome (identifying with one's captors) than amongst the frightened masses awaiting government salvation.
Upgrade bitchez.
Keep telling it how it is, you wonderful, naughty people. You must be really pissing them off by now.
Congratulations on the new arrival.
Congrats, all you need now is some XDCC bots pumping out the 0day.
New structure looks good with FOTW running on the right sidebar.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks for lots of must-read articles!
Tusind tak
Great big thanks to the entire ZH team for all the good work that you do!
Sweden? Apostate left us a great link on that which I thank him always for his contribution. WTF happened above, can't we just be appreciative for the contents and contributors and the community ZH has afforded us?! I CAN, DO AND WILL always appreciate the time it takes to bring us the yard we play in! Thank you Tyler, Marla, Sac, etal Team Zerohedge, you remain in my prayers that opening eyes and hearts to truth can become more of life and remain a continuing source for open discussion. You have created a great thing here, don't let one? bad apple spoil it! Long Live Zerohedge, ironically google had no translation in swedish!
Go Ruth!!!
It is not my intention to start a paranoid rant here (maybe later) but there is a sense of empowerment among the ZH community, and for good reason. Between the Tyler hosts, contributors, guest posters, plus commenters of every imaginable viewpoint and attitude, together we are the opposite of a group mind. It is a place for anyone with a unidentifiable need for intellectual nourishment they can't find elsewhere.
But there is a danger of becoming totally dependant on the magical thread that connects us to this world, and the massive information infrastructure that presents all the world's knowledge just for the asking. Right now plans are being openly discussed in the US goverment that would empower the President or his designees to selectively cut any part of this web. There are sound reasons for doing this -- for example, if a hostile government infiltrated the national power grid distribution system, obviously the country needs a way to intervene. But any tech that provides this capability can also selectively isolate us from sites considered unsupportive of authority and its good intentions.
I don't see this as an immediate danger. At this point any such interference would meet with massive political condemnation. BUT if a really major event occurred somewhere in the world (I won't even speculate on what or where) it is conceivable that internet communication might be restricted for the greater good of the people, to prevent panic, social breakdown, and loss of faith in authority.
I don't know any way to guard agains this. We feel like the net belongs to all of us because it does our bidding every day. Until it doesn't.
However I will offer one simple suggestion. Make sure you own a good quality world-band radio, and spend some time learning to use it. Then if you wake up one day to find no servers responding except CNBC and whitehouse.gov, you can at least try to find someone somewhere who is still speaking truth.
"together we are the opposite of a group mind."
Awesome post; if I may.
ZH is the vortex of all that is holy, of all that is spirit. We are the all dancing all singing crap of the universe. How TD figured out that the book was written for us is almost overwhelming (to the point of a deep deep breathe).
You are correct that they have rounded up the servers; if they cut them it is instant suicide for their $ system. So they will only do it if there is already Armageddon. If that ever happens, be prepared to walk away from that which we call home away from home. But remember, "The center of the earth is wherever you are." -Black Elk. And since we have come this far, we will not back down now. MsCreant will continue to teach, Cog Dis will continue to write, and Tyler will continue to preach; but we may not be connected like Voltron the way we once were. But maybe our force will become stronger. Maybe instead of hiding behind avatars (I do not shun but merely point out) maybe we will storm our city councils, and stand up to our Mayors. Not that anybody doesn't, but maybe we all will. Behind each one of us is the godhead that connects us here in an unmovable force. Maybe if the President goes for broke, we will too. I would not bet against the ZHers. I will say to anyone, "Do not f*&# with us."
For seventree and Lennon Hendrix
Beautiful dancing crap. What else is there? Nice post purple kitty sans haze.
Seventrees as well.
Hope should be strung up and eviscerated. It enables passive complacency and stagnation. Spirit is another matter. Spirit is not magical thinking. It has been tracked in the brain in Alpha/theta waves. We all do it, but we are out of touch with it as a culture. I fear the easterners are emulating western materialism and losing their connection to each other and mother earth as well. I can only assume that this is a developmental phase the collective has to go through, the disconnection, and knowing the consequences in the marrow of our bones. This knowing should carry through in all our history. That we are repeating this and running out of resources at the same time should get the job done for the future generations, or we are hopeless as a species and do not stand the macro test of time.
Love is the plan. Fear cuts us off from our potential. There is a lot to genuinely fear. There are a lot of false dichotomies that lead us away from the truth. We are one. We can't move forward until we get that. In the Alpha/theta brainwave space (meditation and other altered consciousnesses), in spirituality, we know this. Connect to this and there are few decisions we make that are not solid. The connection is difficult because of trauma and fear.

How 'bout "kill switch" followed by "flash crash" followed by ...

Justin Raimondo rebutted the arguments for a kill switch on June 21 in Kill the ‘Kill Switch’: Joe Lieberman: China can shut down the Internet, why can’t we? on Antiwar.com. Here's a taste of the redoubtable Raimondo:
“Right now China, the government, can disconnect parts of its Internet in case of war and we need to have that here too.” --Joe Lieberman
The Internet has been a painful thorn in the side of the political Establishment, destroying the hold of their useful idiots in the “mainstream media” over the flow of information, and giving dissidents a voice – and they’ve been seeking ways to rein it in, “for the public good,” ever since. We’ve heard for years how sinister the Internet is, and how we need to be “saved” from the “dangers” that lurk in cyberspace. The only danger, however, is to the power elite and its information monopoly, which has now been broken beyond repair: the authoritarians in our midst, and I don’t just mean Sen. Lieberman, are desperate to get this cyber-monkey off their backs, and that’s what’s behind the legislative assault coming from all sides of the political spectrum.
Lieberman, Cass Sunstein, and Mr. Genachowski are hoping that the American people are dozing off, unaware of the danger to their liberties: they want to regulate the Internet to death, and hope that no one notices. Don’t be caught sleeping: wake up and contact your congressional representatives. Tell them that we don’t need to be more like China – and that if Senator Lieberman wants to emigrate, you’d be glad to help him out with a one-way ticket. With his distinctly un-American views, he’d do much better as a delegate to China’s rubber-stamp National Congress of People’s Deputies, rather than a member of the Congress of the United States – and that goes for his co-sponsors, Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Sen. Tom Carper (D-Delaware), too.
Put them on a slow boat to China, and good riddance to them all!

We need to write our Congressmen, prepare for the worst, and get ready to storm the Bastille.

This guy is the gift which keeps on giving. He never fails to out-douche his last performance.
BTW, YTF did he have to say "the government"? Is there a Broadway show, or movie, or table settings for 8.. for which we might have mistaken "China"?
Take a good look at him. He's the logical conclusion for our political system.
ZH! Once again I plead for your guys to find a way for us older, suspicious guys to send you money. I don't do payments via the 'Net.
You have my email address (and maybe everyone else's here). Find a way to tell us how to deliver the dough however you feel comfortable. I suspect there is a lot of money that would come.
Yes, be careful because .gov is not your friend. You have enemies. But, you also have friends with resources, ready to help the old fashioned way.
+$100 periodically. But won't let credit cards, nor, ..er.. other transactions get out there. Won't take RFID chips to take out whatever.
The IRS grinds slowly, but it grinds fine.

No way I can use PayPal, they as you know are eBay owned, and BOTH are VIRULENTLY ANTI 2nd Amendment, and Firearms.
I cannot help support my sworn enemies.
Congrats on the upgrade - seems to working fine!
That's good news. I thought for sure you would take my money and use it to buy some gold.
With the insane shit on which you people report, I have to come here to also self-medicate. It makes me sick, but it's the only place with a decent cure, too.
Next Fall, when we finally admit an election is just plain silly, and have the Civil War we so richly desire, I didn't want to be following it here, over a tin cans and string system, with a couple of million people fighting with me over the string.
Think 100G tubes, bitches.
Thank you ZH. Smooth as silk. Ditto on the payment methods...
