It's Official: Assange Will Turn Himself Over To Police Within 24 Hours
The inevitable moment for the Wikileaks founder has arrived: the Telegraph is reporting that Julian Assange will hand himself in to police - possibly as early as Tuesday - after a fresh European Arrest Warrant was issued by the Swedish authorities. "Mr Assange is expected to voluntarily attend a police station within the next 24 hours, and will then appear in a magistrates’ court. He is wanted over allegations of sexual assault in Sweden." We hope this means the imminent release of the decyprion key of the torrent file (which can be downloaded here) which is supposed to be Assange's insurance policy. On the other hand, it could an insurance policy on his life, not his freedom so well we monitor.
From Telegraph:
Mr Assange suffered another setback on Monday when Swiss authorities closed one of his bank accounts, one of the sources of funding for the WikiLeaks site.
The 39-year-old Australian has been under intense pressure since the release of thousands of secret documents in recent weeks.
Kristinn Hrafnsson, spokesman for WikiLeaks, said Mr Assange had been forced to keep a low profile after several threats on his life.
Sweden’s Supreme Court upheld a court order to detain Mr Assange for questioning on suspicion of “rape, sexual molestation and unlawful coercion” after he appealed against two lower court rulings. He denies the allegations.
His details were also added to Interpol’s most wanted website, alerting police forces around the world.
A European Arrest Warrant was issued by the Swedish last month but could not be acted upon because it did not contain sufficient information for the British authorities. A spokesman for Marianne Ny, the Swedish prosecutor, said the extra details were sent last week and were being processed.
Mr Stephens said he would fight any bid to extradite his client. He added that Mr Assange “has been trying to meet with the Swedish prosecutor since August this year”.

If I could post pictures...
I'd show you fucking "Moon".
Hey Crockett, we haven't always agreed - but I'm ignoring Thanatos. He or she just seems interested in provoking dissent rather than discussion. And in the past, I have seen you as someone will to enter into discourse.
That insurance file has juicy stuff in it.
Do tell!
Well, did you KNOW that...wait for it!...there's significantly more zeroes than ones in the file? Well, didya?
So how will the US fatwa on Assange end?
With all net access to anything not sheeple-vanilla flavor being restricted.

Keep things in perspective folks. Don't cancel your credit cards and pay-pal accounts. Don't boycott Amazon and others. Do pay attention to what tools the governments have employed to block the internet as a tool for insurrection.
Don't fall on your swords for JA or Wikileaks. In the overall scheme of things, they are almost irrelevant. The two things that are relevant are the source, who actually obtains the information, and the news outlets that actually publish the information. Wikileaks has merely been a go-between between source and publishers. Should they be cut down, the source could actually hand the information directly to the publisher. It is more likely that other go-betweens would spring up to handle the task. But the demise of Wikileaks would not stop the passing along of secret information.
My belief is still that Wikileak's most valuable contribution to the long-term is smoking out the tactics that TPTB are willing to use to control the internet. That is actually the valuable information that has been disclosed in all of this. I'm sure hackers everywhere are even now working on work-arounds for passing information and funds in ways that the government can't block. The struggle moves onto a higher level. I'm guessing that governments will win the next round also. Most folks don't have a clue what tools the governments have at their disposal. But we are learning.
Nice. I agree.
Watch out. Cricket will latch on to you. He knows you are Mossad.
but there is a correlation between our response and the governments' and the hackers'
Yes.
I'm just sayin', if you're going to stress, stress when they block the publishers or the sources of secret info. Don't waste your energy stressing when the go-between is blocked. They neither get info or publish it. Better to watch what is going on now, learn from it, and put that learning to use.
Watch out ... He knows you are Mossad.
I have Iranian doctors for clients (with the attendant Iranian patients). Does that count?
I am not stressed, just trying to keep sheeple from downloading that poison pill.
I couldn't care less about WL or their website. Just care about the scam.
I barely knew who Mossad was, but now I gather that they are Israeli Intel and they are fairly beastly in their methods.
I don't really know what counts or doesn't in that world. I know all kinds of people. Some I have no idea where they are from.
Doesn't matter, there are bad members of good groups and good members of bad groups and every freaking shade of gray in between.
If you classify at anything but the individual level, you are going to miss out on the real gems of humanity.
I am thinking they will block a whole lot more than just WL and Pirate Bay.
The FCC is being "given" control over the internet.
It kicks off control on Jan 1 and will have a package of Rules that it uses.
Look at when the vote on this FCC Rule package goes off... You know, the one with 550 footnotes that are NOT public until after voting?
December 21st, the monday of the week of Christmas.
Talk about hiding in plain sight... Everybody will be way too busy to even notice it happen.
Talk about co-incident timing too... You don't think that the WL issue will be on the minds of those voting for this loaf of FCC mystery meat?
Nahhh. It's just coincidence.
My bet -- MSM keep stirring the pot to a fever pitch that has not yet been seen.
Shortly before Christmas and maybe shortly before the vote itself, It will be announced that Mr Assange will be sequestered at a secure location under the State Secrets Protection Act of the United States and there will be a long period of evidence collection. He will be treated as a piece of evidence himself.
That way, everyone can have a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!
Then the FCC rules will be made public... Surprise!
I have no idea how draconian they might be. But I know everything they need to manage the nets is already in place.
All that over "secrets" that turned out to be stale gossip and "dirt" on played out issues that anyone who was paying attention at ZH for the past year already knew more about than what WL disclosed. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the "Bank Evidence" WL says they have was stuff snarfed off of ZH! Didn't ZH post some e-mails from a crooked banker on at least one occasion?
Go figure.
I sure hope TD and the ZH Gang are paying attention to this little snake in the grass.
ZH could be directly affected by these new FCC rules.
I'm not sayin... Just sayin...
I was on the fence WRT Assange and Wikileaks being a government front. Whether its blow-back or not, it seems clearer that all the haste to stop the flow of money to Assange/Wiki via credit cards, bank accounts, and Paypal as well as all the DNS turnover and DOS attacks is a real attempt by various governments to shut these guys down by any means necessary and otherwise get Assange rendition-ed to Australia.
Like 9/11 and the Patriot Act, this episode will not bode well for the future of information exchange, freedom of speech, or assembly either in person or in cyberspace.
To all the true believers who are working day and night to keep America on top, so much so that now you are relegated to read the blogsphere searching for "seditious" speech; Is this what our Republic has become? Is this your defense of the Constitution?
Nobody is trying to block payments to the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times or treat their sites like al-qaeda training camps.
To the Wikileaks staff; you better punt on first down, because you have more than one mole in your operation and if the Swiss are going to close your bank accounts you better believe your servers, their mirrors and your bank accounts are next. You can't wait for P2P DNS, so get your data into the wild. The only cover you have is a front against the Banks, not the military - diplomatic circles.
Good essay.

the news just announced here in OZ- a large number (200?) prominent Australians have signed a letter to the Prime Minister asking her to defend Julian Assange's rights as an Australian citizen. It alleges he has committed no crime under Australian law. One of the signees is Julian Burnside QC, a leading Australian lawyer.
